LucasArts is the reason why the Sony all inclusive package payment plan for $22 a month does not have SWG included in it. LucasArts has all control over anything Star Wars and anyone who wants to blame a company for a bad product for that is wrong. LucasArts is the company that decides if and when a game will be released.

LucasArts controls the intellectual property. They make sure SOE sticks to the canon, and doesn't go mucking things up by having Han kill Vader, or somesuch.. As for the actual gameplay? That's all SOE, son. Blame Lucas for the sacks of wet shitte that are Eps. I and II, but SWG's foul ups fall squarely on SOE's shoulders.

Everyone loves to glorify EQ. Yeah, for it's time it was a great game, though, I think it went to crap after Velious. That's just me, your milage may vary. However, the team that created Everquest is not the same team creating Everquest 2. Therefore, saying EQ2 will be this great thing because EQ was is a bit off. I would go into greater detail, but their NDA forbids me from even thinking about the game. Like I said above , they're both solid games. They will both be huge hits, barring their respective teams screwing the pooch somehow, but they will appeal to different people for different reasons. If you absolutely must bash one of the two games, go outside and tell you neighbor that you think WoW/EQ2 will suck. We've already heard it a thousand times before, and honestly, that horse is long dead, and pretty damn ragged now.

Coldmeat, you can say whatever you want but obviously you do not read interviews about how things are done. I have read multiple interviews about how LucasArts has said how and when they want something done with someone using their intellectual property. LucasArts says if it can be released, what will be allowed to be included, and anything else to do with it. LucasArts controls Star Wars with an iron hand and nobody who develops anything dealing with Star Wars does it with freedom. Developers can come up with ideas but LucasArts decides if that it allowed or not. Canons is an excuse of ppl wanting to blame someone else for the problems. LucasArts makes the final decision on anything. No one else. If LucasArts did not agree that SWG was ready it would not have been released. There are bad games out there for Star Wars but LucasArts approved of them being released first. LucasArts is the one I blame for SWG. I am not blinded by some developer being the cause of disaster when the developer is not given the ability to do what it wants. SWG was full of things that kept being changed and done this way and that way.

LucasArts gets little of my money. What they will get is my buying of the first triolgy on DVD and probably nothing more for a long time. LucasArts squeezes Star Wars so much that I have no desire to send money their way. If I met George Lucas I would call him a fool. I really don't think he is what he was when he made the first triolgy.

Robb and Cold, thanks for your comments and clarification of my error, but the point has been badly missed.  Regardless of who was in charge when SWG was developed, I was making the argument that it is foolish to base a totally negative opinion of a game developer on one game if there are others out there that have been better.  That's like saying "I'm not going to try these carrots.  They're a vegetable and I hate broccoli so I KNOW vegetables SUCK!"  Now, if you absolutely hate EQ, SWG, and Planetside then ok, you have a valid opinion that you dislike SoE games.  *shrug*  Have fun in WoW.

The sad part here, is that I'm not even taking one side of the WoW vs. EQ2 argument.  In fact, I plan on playing both unless I wind up not liking EQ2 after I try it.

Leave the dead horse alone, people.  The live ones are much more fun to go after image

ummm..a 5 just because you can? or to raise your post count here?........

    ...Still didnt get hint?;)

Define your justification of the score you gave please.

great game engine. smoothest game ever. good graphics, questing is remotely fun.  beyond this WoW is just alot of the same. its a decent game that will appeal to many, but after playing for about 4 days i found myself not wanting to play anymore. lack of races and classes and character customization turns me off. grouping seems to give no xp bonuses. u are better off soloing. gameplay wise the game is just completely average IMO.

and btw, im all over these boards. and i dont like typing in the same thing about a game over and over. heheh. the above is just a quick breakdown of what i have said again and again after playing wow beta.

Nice job Blizzard, *A* for effort. just not for me.

np, y2sky. I just wanted you to know that I don't look at SWG as a problem because Sony produced it. I was saying that Planetside is a new and different type of game and I thought very interesting. I like Sony very much. My only problem has been the looting. That is why I don't try and play EQ. I hate ninja-looting.

I really enjoy Sony games but I am going to play WoW. I don't think that there is a Sony game that could pull me away unless I bore of WoW.

Ultimately, some of us are going to prefer EQ2 and some are going to prefer WoW.

It doesn't make the folks who disagree w/ you wrong, evil, or somehow twisted.

Going back to the original post of the thread, all he wanted to point out was that playing the Stress Test changed his opinion about WoW and that he's waiting for the chance to play EQ2 and make his comparison.  SOE vs Blizzard wasn't there, and since that discussion's been re-hashed so many times, I doubt that bringing it up here is going to change people's minds.

I thoroughly enjoyed WoW's stress test (even if my highest character only hit lvl 15 -- that's what i get for trying 4 different characters).  Based on that 10-day run, I enjoyed it and it's definitely in my plans for purchase.

Will I enjoy EQ2? Will I enjoy it more than WoW?  I'm waiting for the opportunity to play it and find out.

Ultimately, I'll be playing only one... and it's going to be the game itself (not the company) that decides it for me.

All you haters out there.........none of you know about Eq2, you haven't played it...on the other hand, we have played WoW.

I must say i am disapointed.  I did the lowest stuff to do in the tradeskill i chose and i skyrocketed, and since you can't do as many as you want, i got bored really quickly.  After the first day of playing, which i only got to play for 2 hours (had RL issues to tend to) i got above level 10, and i didn't kill the entire time.  I got soooo bored with the game I uninstalled it after the second day.  And at that point i was around lvl 20.  Now if there is only 50-60 or so lvls in the game, then i could be done with it in a most a month.imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

Just felt the need to post here since Eq2 is being flammed.  Guess its true, you comment on actually liking the game more than you did before, and then they flame Eq2, without anything provoking them.

Oh, and i think a moderator should lock this.

My thread is not flaming EQ2 in the least. If you read the article entirely you would understand that.

Also..You suggest this thread be locked...Why? Because some EQ2 "Flamers" came here to speak their thoughts? Alot of people dont read the entire post. All they see is "EQ2 ownz WoW" and "WoW is L33ter then EQ2". Noone is READING and understanding the post.

Also..Your personnal opinion as you stated is ONLY that..An Opinion of a game you tested..Again, just because you may be upset with certain verbal issues that are not to your liking..doesn't give grounds to close this thread.

Your OPINION has been noted....now..lets move on:)

"Sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought of as a fool rather than to open it and prove everyone right."

the_voice, please don't post unless you know what you're posting about. Especially if you accuse someone of flamming a game.

I am an avid World of Warcraft fan, but that doesn't mean I bash on Eq2 every chance that I get. I want to play the game, but until I get a better computer, it will never happen, sadly.

I am asking that you don't come here and try and start another war over which game will make more money. Take that crap back to your forums, because here most of us just don't care about what someone like you has to say.
