That to me looks like a very boring and unimaginative world design. Hopefully on the ground it wont be laid out so symmetrically.
At the macro level it does look a bit symmetrical yeah, though I'm sure there is a lot of characteristic coastline and stuff once you zoom in. Would have been nice to have had a few large rivers/lakes leading into the centre of the continent seeing as naval combat and transportation is a big (?) feature of the game.
That looked impressive for a few seconds until I started actually clicking on the locations, I thought cool they’ve linked gallery’s of screenshots taken in game from those locations, but no, what actually happens? No information about this city/region is available
The less the Developers put out there the better off they are. Better off behind locked doors.
I have been watching another game for over three years. I have only seen 6 Screenshots so far.
If the game is good then i don't care if i see anything before it's released.
I like walking into a game Blind. It gives me a sense of wow i discovered something like in EQ2. " But this is 2008 and I want the spoon and all extras and free as well." .... /sigh
For the ones that wasnt aware of this very nice map of the Agon World. Can be nice to have a good one since the game is soon to be released. http://www.bkbhq.com/index.php?pageid=dfmap
The only announcement you will see from the Darkfall staff this year is if they decide to close up the shop.
By the way Aragon, since you are so blatantly naive, I have this bridge in brooklyn you might be interested in.....
Given they've been going for so long, I think it's highly unlikely they're going to stop now. They've shown nothing but pure progress lately, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to meet their 2008 projected release, if not, no big deal, as long as the game is good.

I strongly disagree with you saying "It's no big deal" if they fail to meet the 2008 release. Please DON'T go there again. Please! That's a ticket to nowhere. If you do that, what will you do next year at this time? Huh? Predict a 2010 release?
They HAVE to at least begin the official public beta by year end, at the VERY LEAST! Someone has to actually SEE the game and play the current build. Someone has to!
The "troll" posts come from people who have been given ZERO real evidence that this game exists in a "playable" form. Forget whether it's ultimately good or bad. Just in a playable form to prove it really exists.
Way too much talk and promises to miss again. I know you're a fan, but come on already. They just can't keep talking and NOT showing anything forever, can they?
Well, I just discovered the game, so it's easy for me to say "take your time and make it perfect". With that said, it would make no sense for them to have upgraded a lot of their graphics recently, which is a strong sign that they are indeed coming to the final wrap-up.

Hell, they upgraded the graphics years ago...2005? Guess that didnt make sense since they didnt wrap anything up, but they did it anyway.
And not just directed towards you in particular Choke, but I get so tired of this notion that more time = better game. It doesnt. Skilled programmers and a great plan/concept = better game. Sure, some minimum time is required, but more often than not, the "more time" is needed due to unexpected problems, bad planning, or plain incompetance.

They started out with a new engine. A engine is something you can polish for a very long time. AoC's engine is from 1996. Does the game look like a game from '96?
But I don't say that Darkfall has top notch graphics, maybe not even close. But it has a purpose and with.

You misunderstood what he wanted to say. You see, chokepoint used the claim that the fact that they have upgraded a lot of their graphics recently is a strong sign of them coming to the final wrap-up, because the alternative didn't make sense (to him). Then Theodgrim pointed out the fact that they've also upgraded their graphics in the past and evidently they weren't in the final wrap-up back then, or we would be playing the game now. So the alternative that doesn't make sense for chokepoint has already been taken by the devs, as apparently it does make sense for them. So the fact that they were recently or are upgrading graphics alone is not (empirically) a strong sign of it being in the final wrap-up.

It all works now.

they have used shader effects in the latest screenshots; that is a sign of a final wrap-up...
I'd say it's a sign of shader effects being used in the latest screenshots.
I'd say we're long past the point where screenshots can be used to prove much of anything about the current state of Dark Fall.

Errr... why? Together with videos there's no better proof short of playing the game, and if the game is still in development, well, we're SOL.
