New to mmorpg's- need help deciding.

Sooo.... Hokay!.. I i've just recently joined, like 15 minutes ago and have read the first tack of this forum. It showed me the basic fundamentals of the varieties of mmorpg gaming. I need help deciding which one i should play.

Like 3 years ago, I was playing runescape. I know, that game sucks, but it's my only experience with mmo's. I liked how there were many players and how you could build an account to make it stronger than others. I also liked the pvp in it. But...  i haven't played it for like 2 years. So i'm needing something new.

This is because i've recieved a new Dell Xps m1530 laptop. And i assure you it's qualified for any mmorpg game at highest resolution and detail settings.

I've planned it out and i believe that i'd be most intersted in Guild Wars, or Fury. I don't mind paying the cover charge, I just won't pay to play montly. SO... Should i get Guild wars? fury? or even... silkroad online?

Which one should i get addicted to? I don't mind the level of grinding.  just the pvp and graphics.

I don't suggest you get addicted, but that choice is up to you.

I also don't fully understand why you bought an amazing gaming laptop to MMO with, yet you don't want to spend the monthly cost on most of the better MMOs out there, however, that is in your hands.

From what I've read about you, I'd figure you'd enjoy Guild Wars the best. It is a solid game. The world is NOT persistant, so you don't have that benefit, but the arena PvP (only form in Guild Wars) is quite fun.

Silkroad is infested with bots and hackers, so the rumor has it, and it is a griiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind fest. I do not suggest it.

RuneScape is getting/already got a graphics update, so you might want to consider it again if you're a graphics junkie. However, they did seemingly kill it with the PvP/trading patch.

    Hope you have fun.

    Blessings,

    MMO migrant.

Hmmm, Guild wars it is. I've read a lot about it. And evn some of my friends play it. Therefore, i've concluded that it is a good choice of game for me to begin playing on.

    Thanks -

p.s. I'm buying the orange box and crysis for my lappy. I like multiplayer FPS too. I just don't want to get bored(thus, mmorpg)

    Huxley sounds cool.....

Good job on leaving RS. Welcome to the real mmo world!

Personally,  go for Guild Wars, try and buy the original and "Factions" - Factions will add more PvP options for you.

A lot of people dont see GW as a real mmorpg. However, for just the box price like you said your after, it will give you some better eye candy than Runescape.

After your done with GW or for the Future you could be intrested in GW2 (no monthly fee too)

Archlord and Perfect World are other free to play mmo's that you might want to try out.

Unreal III / COD4 for multiplayer fps' imo ^_^

Currently restarting World of Warcraft :/

oh yea, definately unreal tourney 3. I think COD4 will be repaced soon by something newer. So, i'll wait for a different modern combat fps. But i haveplayed it before and it was truly an eye-candy game.

GW FTW.....After playing LOTRP, WoW, Everquest2, EVE online, DDO, and a lot of f2p games I have come to a conclusion that Guild Wars is the best.....by a long way, but thats just my opinion and if you're buying Guild Wars I'd suggest you buy all the campaigns which I plan to do soon.....And welcome to the MMO world.

yea if avoiding fees is the goal do guild wars. i hate it personally but it sounds like it would be prefect for you (lots of pvp, runs on lappy, no fees).

two worlds is coming out with an expansion soon also if you are looking for something a bit more robust (the original had a rough launch so you can get it on amazon for like 10$/free to play forever).

avoid the free to play games because most of them have cash shops and that is a hidden fee in itself (pay or suck) with the exception of dungeon runners.

i would have suggested hellgate london but...heh, well naah.

I lol'ed at your "generation" comment. It all started back in the days with Tibia and Runescape. Graphic games are for spoiled brats, without the decency to look at the gameplay. I bet your also the one screaming the loudest when looks on a girl don't matter. Shame...

Guild wars, Vanguard, EQ2 are all games you can't go wrong with.

For free games though, Dungeon Runners, Flyff, Eudemons, Xiah, or 2Moons.
