    FYI there have been oceanic servers for a while and a week or 2 ago blizzard opened new new oceanic servers.

    And item grind.. welcome to the world of MMO's

    And FYI none of them are Oceanic based.  LMAO. L2R

    DAOC pre-TOA wasn't an item grind.  More like welcome to world of certain item based MMOs.

    Arena sucks plain and simple. It's boring. Bring back world PVP and stop messing with stipid junk that means nothing.
    They even brought up some lame achievment" thing that grants nothing but acknowlegment that you wasted time doing boring stuff.

    I hope the game fails and the devs all lose theur jobs.

    If you don't want to play it... don't play it.  If you want something to be exactly like you want then I say go out and make your own game.  Blizzard (with an A) can do whatever they want to their own game even if you don't like it.

    Unless I've been gone from the game too long and things have changed I'm pretty sure you can still PvP outside in the world... If enough people wanted world PvP Blizzard would not have to do anything at all... the PLAYERS would have to just go out and do it.

    That's what I meant.

    "fade as a mainstream mmo and only for a select audiance".

    But insignificant to the market of Wow, War and even EVE.

    Dead means sub 100K - 150 K subs, because at that rate you can only keep alive the existing stuff.

    Hahahaha, thanks for the laugh. Doesn't Lord of the Rings have around 150K subs, and they've been releasing free content updates since the start? Oh, and a new expansion, and new expansions after that...

    Yeah, LotRO is dead as a doornail.

    I agree Just because a game doesnt have a gazillion mindless sheep for a subscriber base doesnt mean its dead. Like theyve said there are plenty that are still doing just fine and are much better than WoW. Ill add FFxi for my example.

    WoW is crap, Just look at media nowadays and you can see that all one has to do is cater to all the retards in our world. Just because the masses think something is good, doesnt mean it is. American Idol? Pokemon? and any new music you can find. If one looks at history its quite clear that the masses are usually wrong.

    But its all Good. I hope that WOTLK does insanely well. The masses need a home (a home that is far away from what i play lol) Itll keep all the WoWkids out of upcoming games. Hurray!!

    Nasty post by OP, hoping for other people's suffering and loss is just hideous.  Beyond that, the real carebears here are the gamers who think that major corporations are sitting around thinking about what will make a product perfect for them personally.   There is also a bullying mentality that is undeniable in the rhetoric and ingame behavior of many of these folks that makes the counter argument perfectly:  if a game is focused on these people's ability to entertain themselves by tormenting other players, of course it is going to be a niche taste, not a mass-market game, because S&M is, thankfully, a minority taste.

    If you don't like WoW, big deal.  Go play something else.  Nobody cares.  I think Wotlk is going to be more of the same, and that's fine with me.  I think I have a teensy bit of company in that respect, and none of us really are too concerned with what game you wish existed.

    They are already on the slow down, and have lost a lot of subscribers over the last 6 months. There is a chart somewhere, but it doesn't matter. If anything it will be the bounce up and decrease in numbers again just like it was before BC and after BC.

    WoW has the grasp on the newbie MMo genre, and people like the ease of play and the simple style and that is why is sells.

    While I hate the insane amount of emphasis put onto the inane e-peen festival of rogues, warriors, and druids that we call arena...it's stupid to say that WotLK is going to fail...the game is bringing in the Death Knight class and Northrend, that alone is enough to get a ton of people playing just for the sheer coolness factor...Anyone who played any warcraft game, especially Warcraft 3, is going to jump at the chance to play as a deathknight in Northrend.

    The OP is right about arenas being lame though.  if Blizz wants WoW to be an E-sport then they need to balance the classes around one on one pvp to make it so that the winners of arena games aren't the ones with the best class selection, but the ones with the most actual skill.  The horrible balancing issues that the game is facing right now (World of Meleecraft) should show them that their game isn't even close to being ready for e-sport status, and that arenas need to be held off until the game is more properly balanced.

    Or they could give a lot of players what they want and put in a one on one arena where you only face members of your own class, now THAT I could go for.

    Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

    Mhm, WotLK is going to fail as much as Age of Conan was an amazingly polished, Genre defining MMO of all time...

    caught my sarcasm? Yeah? Good...

    And to the "subscriptions going down in the last few months" comment. Its summer, its bright and sunny, people want to go outside. With as large a base they have, its no suprise a majority are casuals, and casuals arent the type who sit inside infront of their PCs or consoles all day :P

    To the comment about no-one being in the low level content because they can just roll a DK is also absurd.

    1) You must have a 55 to get it.

    2) Sure everyone may roll a DK, but does that mean they all will stick with it?

    3) People will still create new warriors or priests or shamans or whatever.

    Fact is, Blizzard isnt known for crap games, they have a consistant track record of great games under their belt. WotLK is going to be far from failure. They've shown they know how to improve their game, and though they dont add some things that I'd love to see (Guild/player housing), they are still improving it.

    Besides the first post being rather sad for wishing misery on other people, I'd like to see people present any kind of reliable data to found the following quotes on:

    Of course, I don't really believe the people posting it can provide any such data, linked or presented in full here in this thread, but I love being proven wrong about such things.

    Actually, with some of the achievements, and based on the perfectionistic tendencies that arise through them, you could actually see a rise in activity with old world content.

    Its Blizzards short-term answer to revitalizing old things.

    Raiding Oppositions city? Check

    Raiding old-old world and old world (old-azeroth and Outlands) content: Check

    so yep, it is a great idea (and besides, I want to club baby seals... :D)

    true, but I don't think they're going to lose their jobs.  I hope not cause I want to play Starcraft 2 when it comes out.

    Quality over quantity is true for most everything. Fact WoW is not the highest RATED MMO ever, just largest subscribers like Ive said, and has everything to do with player base. Well actually, if you look around on the net both WoW, FFxi, and some other MMO's both old and new, have around the same ratings usually btw 8-9.5 so ya I dont see what your saying infact nothing you said was substantial. WoW's "quality" is just based on its huge subscriber base, which I have already discussed. See what I am saying?

    Of course this isn't going to fail. The real question is, is it going to be any good? Or are people just going to buy it because its part of WoW.

    i know there are a lot of long term players in the game that dont like the thought of the expansion . mainly because as soon as its out all the hard won level 70 epic gear becomes obsolete . will it fail to impress some of them yeah i imagine it will . what it wont do is fail to gain more subs a month . warcraft in my opinion is still the best of the mmos . thats not to say i dont enjoy some of the others like eve and lord of the rings and like a lot of people i want to see something that can actually give wow a run for its money . but every release seams to be a let down as we ve recently seen with conan. i m still hoping that warhammer has some potential but i dont think i ll be holding my breath .

    not looking to argue the point but on meta scores; www.metacritic.com

    WoW = 93% (based on  53 reviews)

    FFX = 85% ( based on 25 reviews)

    and the others;

    AoC = 80%

    EQ2 = 83%

    Lotro = 86%
