After the welcome back week, and then the $5 for one month for returning vets, and the change with diffferent brigade classes (armor, inf) which I thought could be really interesting ...I joined back up.
Tonight at 11PM EST, other than air at Glize, there were ZERO full missions. Of the two brigades that had some of their player bar used, they had 9 and 8 players on. That's Axis wtih sides balanced. Summer used to be one of the better times.
What's up, folks have already given up on the map and it's going to have a slow death with these numbers for the next couple of months? Needless to say I was shocked and glad it was $5.

I've noticed that too. Two weeks ago, there were raging battles from North to South. I thought it was just the times I was on recently, but I guess not. Looks like the map is in a lull..
I maybe wrong, but to me has the war always been slow during the summer time.
It is first when people is back from vacations and start to be more indoor (people tends to stay outdoor during summer time) that the war is heating up again.
Might be the hours you play. Used to be a drop off after summer when school started heh. The night time hours would be determined by free time where there's lots in the summer.
Maybe with the Tiger announced already (man that was fast, they really bumped up the research speed) and the map already West even before the toys, folks have dropped out of the map. End of map low pop have always been around but I've never see it at this level before and this early... the map is not that far East or West.

I would say it is a pretty good stalemate at the moment. The Axis has pushed hard for both Antwerp (boy, there was lots of hard fights all over the place for days) and Brussels without any gain.
The Allies has after being forced backwards (during 2nd week of three) a bit holding their lines pretty well.
Yeah, didn't see much of a map change when I tried again last night. Brussels being attack by 23 people from a depot mission, 5 from the FB mission. Not much chance there (and no FB defense) with taht number. FB went down just as I arrived at the city with a 232, went back with the thought of picking off the FB team (and RTB) and got lucky and wasted the FB busting team.
Found another attack with some of the ex Brus attackers in it, ~20 people there over all. Again nothing much. Lots of ATGs around at the end waiting for tanks that weren't bothering spawning in. Everywhere else dead. 7:30-8:30 EST.

I play less in the summer truthfully, i rather play in the winter, and enjoy life in the summer
This game is incredible, if you ask me.
The only problem is what you said, it's DEAD. There must be no more than 40 players online at a giving time, and everything is just so limited.. it's not really that fun.
I've been playing for a little over a month now, and it's already losing interest. I love, love, love the air... but it's just too hard to get because I'm so new. Most of the people that are playing now have been playing for a couple years now, so they outdo pretty much everything I do. There's hardly any lowbies in the air, they're just the professional dedicated players. - Now I don't suck, I can shoot down planes pretty easily, not to mention that I got Rank 5 in a couple weeks (not that impressive, I guess).
The infantry base in this game is alright, but it's not my cup of tea. I enjoy the tanks, but once again, I'm out beat by the professionals who've been playing since day one. This is where the most activity comes through, but lets be honest here, if I wanted this.. I would play Battlefield 1942 or some other arcade shooter (my personal opinion).
The navy I somewhat am interested in, it's a new style of game play for me.. however, it has ZERO activity throughout the day. Alright, there is.. but you have to be Rank 5+ to enjoy any of it... and how am I supposed to level 2-5? Shooting down planes and bridges? Come on.
I'll be honest though, this is one of the best damn games I ever played. It's just sad that no one wants to play it... why? Because the graphics doesn't fit your requirements? I'm sorry, but if you care more about graphics than gameplay... go back to your Xbox 360 or PS3 on your HDTV. - Then you got the monthly base subscription, but with an MMO.. that's expected. If you can't pay $15 a month, you shouldn't be playing games. Period. - But it has had a 7 year run, which is quite incredible... Despite what I said, they should still update the graphics and release new content.
Pink, you have joined a squad? Lone Wolfing will make it a very trying sim.
I started this game at launch in 2001. It was amazing and has only gotten better. I returned a few months ago and had a great time. Even with the very dated graphics it still can offer a white knuckle experience. I've got some amazing memories in this game. The only thing that sucked is they introduced the ranks after I had played for 1000 hours, and had to start off from scratch despite all of my service and fighting. A bit of a disappointment since it was listed as being in the game in the manual.
I left , however, because it was just too dead. At best, there'd be one minor battle going on, and things were just not as huge and intense as they used to be.
I'm praying the graphics engine revamp comes sooner rather than later. I'll be back when that occurs and hopefully it will lure back some vets and new players. WW2 online is a great game, if you can find a battle.

Nonsense. My squad can put that many people on. What, are we the only people playing?
Same with my squad. When I logged yesterday was still 30 online.
We had some 50-60 online yesterday, and we fought with a few other Squads side-by-side, so If I say we was some 100 men on our side alone in our little fight do I not exaggregate. Not counting the evil Allied side that can match us no matter where we try to push them back. But we gave them a pretty good beating nonetheless.
Wished your 60 people squads were around when I was logged in. But this is what I saw, people not staying on (me being one) because nothing big happening, logging off and causing low pops.

BTW, anything in particular that brought the sapper issue up to this big change.

That's been around since the new cover, well been around forever but much more so with the switch from hard cover to the plentyful soft. I like some of the comments saying they need their cover, I'd like to see how they would have found the old hard cover days hehe. Now those were hard core sappers. No running down massive bush lines totally hidden (and being able to is pretty lame, what happened to the trunks). With the hard cover (or that really skimpy soft hedgerow stuff) you had to pick one side or the other, really had to plan your route and not get enemies on both sides as you could only hide from one.
Summer is over and everyone is back at work. In other words, the battle for Europe is raging as hard as it ever did.
Six Attack Objectives (AO) up on both sides. That means you have pretty good fighting all over the western European frontline.
Did they end up nerfing the sapper?
If they did, without adding RPAT's in their place, that'll make me stay away from the game forever (or until RPAT's come in tier 0, history be damned, as DOC says himself, selective realism is a bad thing.... is it realistic for a solo tank to camp a spawn point from 1km (engine off, so he can hear better, which wouldn't happen in reality) away with MG's seeing as he's practically unkillable as long as he's awake at the keyboard since he has the veh spawn locked down with his 88 or 75mm? Is that what DOC wants more of?
The sapper will thankfully lose it's ability to suicide dash it's way to a tank and instantly place satchels killing it. The three second placetime is a long overdue change on a unit which is grossly overpowered right now. In the future it might take some actuall teamwork to take out that tank, instead of as now, joe rambo goes out tank hunting with his four bags of insane ammount of explosives.
God forbid that the other side can for once use teamwork to cover the tank in question, something that right now is next to impossible...
Ultimatly the anti-tank guns should stand for the infantry way of dealing with tanks. The sapper allways was supposed to be a last resort option, when it's primarialy use is to hunt down tanks, and tankers have to run from all infantry that happens to come close, then there is something very wrong with the balance between these two units.

And someday, they'll make it so there is no such thing as a vehicle spawn to camp with a Tiger at 2km...
That'll be the day.
Give me RPAT's to deal with idiot tankers who don't use teamwork (Joe Ramboing it). Good tankers don't get sapped, the bad ones do.
Oh yes, they need to add 3 seconds to the start time of the vehicles to compensate for the 3 second place time. Will teach the tankers to keep the engine on if they want to avoid dying to sappers. Or, they can turn it off so they can camp better, but fall victim to the sapper as they can't just start moving forward to avoid all harm.

You arent getting it. First of all, the engine does have a short turnover period. Secondly, Tigers (or anything else for that matter) are supposed to "camp" an objective. Dont like it? Stop playing.
I agree with the need for RPATs on both sides. Totally retarded that the rats would consider it "balanced" and "fair" to have sappers that can rush an entire platoon of tanks from some bushes, and take out two before getting put down. Thats just idiotic.
I really cant believe someone who wants RPATs is whining about a tank camping ANY location. Thats what they are there for. To be impervious to small arms fire and to hold down an area. If you are getting slaughtered, the sappers can rush it. If you have any kind of tactical advantage, you can (if they ever add it) use heavy infantry weapons to damage/button/destroy it.
At least the coming changes to the sappers will be to the benefit and fun for BOTH sides, instead of another "Oh my poor Allied babies! You cry so loudly at the mean ol' German tanks that I have to help you!" or "Oh noes! That mean ol' 88 bothering you?! I'll nerf it for you! Better yet, I'll buff your tanks! Here!"

Its Jon Rambo... not Joe.
But there is a RPAT in game... the british have it. Its called a Grenadier. It can kill everything in game. And even a Tiger now too.... Mildly funny really.
So much crap, so little quality.

I heard something about that. Something about the grenades being HEAT fragments or something.
there is plenty of players ingame imo, there is fighting in atlest 5 cityes 24/7.
It is hard to tell if a man is telling the truth when you know you would lie if you were in his place
Summer = low pop .. always have been.
And the time playing also makes a difference ...
Enough fun battles 24/7 yeah.
