1. MMOGs are evil - The world would be a much better place without them.
2. Wow fanboys motivation - I wasted four years of my life playing a game. If WAR comes along and topples it of the top spot it was all for nothing. Hmm this better not happen. No.. it won't happen. Ill make sure of it muhahahah

You did know that every account had a cancel function right?

I did know that. I cancelled 6 months into playing the game because I got over it. Hence I used the title 'wow fanboy logic' and not 'my logic'. Where is your logic? I'm sure most wow players would stop if they werent so hooked on it.
I hope it crushes WoW...but chances are it won't...or atleast not in 1 month...maybe in a couple of months and it will crush WoW but the only thing in 1 month that WAR will crush is the PvP. WAR PvP will bring all the PvPers from WoW and take a huge chunk of players

I don't care if it crushes anything. I just hope it isn't a let down like countless other unfinished MMO's that came out this year. I just want a polished game to play. Mythic, PLEASE, OH PLEASE, don't let us down!
P.S. If you really think about it... anything you do in the world at any time anywhere... IS A WASTE OF TIME :P so if you enjoy playing games then play them.
Here's my take. everyone critizes, including my brother that MMO's will waste 5-10 years of your life.
However, most of those same folks, including my brother, come home, fill their fat face, watch TV for 2 hours then finish the night with a 3 hour halo/CS/BF marathon.
And the worst part is those games never change. NEVER! They play the same maps with the same people over and over and over again. And they call MMO player repetative and boring.
I ain't a FPS or even a console hater. I own a 360 and played BF for long while and Halo. But it does seem most people you talk to spend just as much time on those game.
I hope to god not. Have you ever met a hardcore WoW PvPer? They think that running a cookie cutter combo and getting high ratings in arenas makes them skilled... LOL
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

Ditto....
Wow PVP'ers will sit AFK inside towers for 24 hours and come back in wonder why they have no RVR points.

About MMO addiction...
IMO it's very much down to the way the game is configured. WoW, for example, is horrible in this regard. You have to waste inordinate amounts of time in order to be eligible for some fun. Grind, grind, grind... grind this, grind that so you can maybe, in the future, go to a dungeon you haven't seen yet or compete in PvP.
I consider WoW a horrible game due to these simple metrics - the proportion of time you're actually having fun to the total time played. Most people "waisting their lives" on WoW are actually not having fun - they are all slaving away hoping to get the chance of actually having fun occasionally.
Case in point: I play COD4 and QW as well. In these games your fun/time-played ratio is close to 100% so I don't feel any need to play more than an hour at a stretch. I get my dose of fun and then I find something else to do. While I was playing WoW I discovered that its "fun ratio" is miserable - I'd say 20%. For each hour actually doing something meaningful I'd have to spend 4 hours trying to get the group together, grindi some mats, fly around, grind, grind.... I'd be working for hours and hours on a promise of entertainment. If I just got my entertainment straight up I'd probably waste much less time than I did. That's a dastardly, dope-dealer customer retention strategy Blizzard got there and I really passionately despise them for it cause I'm pretty sure its intentional.
They don't care about you having having fun, they just want you hooked. Just like a drug dealer schtick - stringing you along with promises of paradise but actually just trying to keep you in hell for as long as possible.
One of the prime reasons why I'm so excited about WAR is that it seems it'll offer a much better fun/time-played ratio than what is the norm in MMOs so far. I expect to be able to log in, see who's online and in just a few minutes be somewhere doing something meaningful and entertaining.

1. WAR is not WoW.
2. If you do play this game. Play order. So I can run you over with my shield.
