EQ2 Level 200 characters?

tgconebytgconeby Member Posts: 17
I read in PC Gamer that EQ2 will support characters to the insane level of 200...obviously a slew of expansions will be required to attain such....prestige.  I've neither heard nor read anything about that ever since...anyone got any ideas on end-game level caps?

yeah I read that in a few places also.  Unsure of what the meaning of it is though, could possibly just be max level that is coded in right now so they don't have to do it later down the road.

in a Q&A moorgard said it was the max level of thier code and that they may not even intend to go that high. but the option was there if they did.

lol, i rather it be too high than too little.

Anyone ever played CoH? People were maxxing out their character levels in 3 weeks because the level ceiling was 40.

CoH had to do some emergency work to fix that as within 2 months virtually every power gamer was jsut twiddling their thumbs unable to level.

Basically all it means is they have everything in place to take it up to 200 over time. They have it all planned out and ready to go that way when it comes time to release an expansion and they decide to raise the level cap, they're not scrambling around trying to think of something to give the players when they advance through those new levels.

Hopefully, if the raise the cap in an expansion, you will not have to buy the expansion to benefit from the level cap increase.

    Just my guess :)

It would be interesting in the fact on how LONG it would take to get to level 200. We are not talking about hours of play, but DAYS lol.

Atleast 12 months, thats grinding and questing for like 12 hours a day - 7 days a week, from lvl1 to 200.

The higher the level you go from 1 - 50, the longer it takes to gain a level.

Dont forget, in EQ2, some quests have to get completed in order so that you can choose your class, sub-class, and then any epic type quests that they may include. Quests take time, grinding is a bit faster in the leveling department imo.

I really don't think they will ever raise the level  cap to anywhere near 200 because it would discourage new players from starting the game later on.  It would seem to daunting a task to attain that high of a lvl.

For me, it isn't how many levels they have, it's how long it takes me to get through them. I could care less if there are 2 ot 2000 levels, so long as it doesn't amount to a second job to play the game. Which also ties in with the new player thing. While their may be 200 levels, as long as they can catch up to the majority of the players in a reasonable time, then I don't see it being an issue. Mudflation has an effect on this as well. It takes a lot less time to max in EQ, even more so if you happen to have some friends to give you plat, and gear, etc.

To be perfectly honest, I'd like to see them do away with levels entirely, and go with a purely skill based system, but hey, some people apparenlty want to stick to the same old stale progession systems.

I got to admit, EverQuest 2 is going to be a very good game. It is also going to be weird at the same time, I don't know why, but it will be.

I totally agree that it would be better if in EQII it took the same amount of time to get to 200 as it took to get to 65 in EQlive.  I don't know about anyone else but it would just feel allot better to see that bar fill up faster.

It's got to be an understanding that not everyone can devote their life to this game. I am just hoping that it would be good for the casual player. I really wanted to beta test this game very badly. I am still crossing my fingers for an invite. I am a good tester, and great and catching small things. I never got the chance in my life to show my skills. I wonder what it's like beta testing. I never have for 20 years of living yet lol.

Oh I totally agree. I'd much rather be able to level faster and have more levels. Having to play a game like a second job is rediculous and not very much fun.

I get bored if tit takes me a week/month to gain a level. At that point I usually end up creating a new character or switching games.

I think ac is icnreasing level to 250 with the new expansion.. from 126-250 that is... and graphics being updated... o anyways... 200 isn't that amny levels.. I cant remember which game.. but as far as I remember one game had like 999.... I am guessing it will be easier to level in eq2 then eq1... like.. 1-10 be only like 5-30 or whatever same level kills each level.. and hopefully.. the higher you go.. as long as you kill things near your elvel it doesn't take forever.. I remember killing reds and only getting like 1/2 a blue on my necro in his 20s... 200 levels should take the average player like a year to achive at most.. I hope.. wont be any twinked newbies running around.. so everyone should level at same pace.. only difference is play time.. not equipment.. since everything has a level req :O.. I played ac from the begining.. and it took me.. like 2 months to hit around 30.. and that was considered fast :O.. now they have updated everything.. and someone can get to 126 in like 2 months if they dont have alot of help.. prolyl 3 or 4 days with ALOT of help.. hopefully eq2 takes it near that.. but still far enoguh away so the game is fun.
