Neas don't question my authority!!
Haahhahaa, well i don't know how they do it, but you must remember they are dun dun dun SONY!! They are a powerful entity and they have their "ways"
All the beta keys are linked to accounts, I really wouldn't waist my time or money buying an key. You'll only be able to download the client play for a little then have your account locked for ToS violations.

I agree with you, the point of beta is not to play for pleasue (although you should enjoy it) or profit. Its to help a company make a strong, stable product. You arn't paying for the beta access you are selling it was given to you. So in some ways you are stealing, but mostly your cheating a company what was willing to invest coutless man hours to create an inovative product.
Just my thoughts though
I believe it is only wrong to sell a beta account when it's to a very early stage. However, if you sell a current EQ2 account I wouldn't care at all. There are plenty of people in there now, sure.. there is work to be done but it's not as vital if the person contributes to it or not. Who is to say the original account holder would have done anything?
And for the record, unless it was very cheap (Under $10) I probably wouldn't bother. I will read updates or whatever it takes so I am caught up as much as I can be when the game goes live. But it would be great to play... no doubt about that.

How is a suggestion or a bug report at one stage of the beta any less important than another? ANY bug report that leads to solving a reproducable issue is essential to the developers - including those submitted after release. The real problem is when they open the floodgates, they get a lot of useless testers that are (among other things) selling these beta accounts, rather than TESTING THE GAME.
Oh and let's not forget about the NDA and terms that YOU ARE LEGALLY BOUND TO. So yes, it's still very "wrong."
I honestly hope that SoE, Blizzard, and the others are keeping track of bug submission stats, so that "good" testers are rewarded in their next creations. Who knows, maybe there will be fewer morons testing next time.

You do understand that beta testing isnt all about testing?
Its also a indirect way of advertising... why so many of these people who have never played before get invited... Because there new blood, potential addicts. The people already playing EQ1 for 2-3 years or Played for 4 years etc are already hooked. They can wait :P.

Well, somebody has already commented but thought I would go ahead and do it myself. You need to realize that when they start letting so many people in at once, they are no longer expecting all of those people to fill out bug reports! Do you honestly believe they were hand selected? Hell no. They clicked a button and their name was drawn. Wow, what percision.. I am sure that person is an expert bug hunter. That's the clear and obvious different about later stages, as somebody stated.. it's about advertising and some general feedback.
It's rather pointless to mention any legal thing. They wouldn't have much of a case anyway unless you signed something, not clicked a button saying I agree. You don't have to even provide a real name, they aren't checking this stuff. But more importantly, the whole purpose of my message was explaining why I don't think it is wrong. I may think many illegal things should be legal, and that's perfectly fine.. I have my reasons why.
Hmm.. so that's about it. Not telling you to agree with me, I am telling you why I think like I do. And there's always the matter of how do you know the people who buy the accounts don't submit bugs. That subject is a bit iffy, but supports me more than it does you.

First off, raise your hand if you put "So I can sell the accounts on eBay" in the beta application....
Second, you have done nothing but expressed your opinion. Regardless of whether SoE stands to gain from more testers or not is arguable. But whether the NDA is a binding agreement between you and SoE is not. Decades worth of case law support their case, should they decide to sue. And not having a signature on file doesn't cut it either, ever heard of a "shrink wrap license agreement?"
All I'm saying is this: You may be able to justify the sale or distribution of your beta key to yourself. But when it comes to the agreement that you signed electronically, you are explicitly violating the terms of that agreement if you do so. Period. There is no way to rationalize it - the terms of the NDA are clear and concrete. It's true that everyone is entitled to their opinion on the law, but in this particular scenario you have no argument whatsoever.
Chances are nothing will actually happen if you sell your beta keys. But don't say that they don't care - when you are the one violating that agreement. They gave you the terms, you agreed to it. End of story.

Any beta is an honor to be accepted into, far as paying to get into one would not be my style at all. Eventually the game comes out, its just sad to see some try to buy a beta account.

A fool and his money are soon parted.
I guess if there are idiots out there with the money to burn that are willing to plunk down $500 for a beta account that will be closed in ~6 months, give or take, then more power to them. More often than not, the people selling it aren't bright enough to use a different email on the sale from the one they signed up for the account with, and it get's shut down immediately. SOE, and Blizzard are aware of the sales going on, and I know ebay has cooperated with SOE in the past with sales of accounts and items from EQLive, so I'm sure they've been just as helpful in this instance.
While some sales slip through the cracks, most don't. I am curious what Ebay's stance on helping those that bought an account only to have it banned get refunds is. I can only hope they tell them to take a hike, and consider it a life lesson.
Me, while it's easy to sit here and say I wouldn't sell either of my accounts, it's a bit different when someones waving $500 under my nose for the login to a video game.
Pay for a beta?!?!?!? NEVER!!!! Id rather spend the $50 on the finished product rather than the beta, find outs its really good, and spend another $50 to buy the game. If you all have that kind of money to burn, spend it on your local prostitute!
Did it already

I wouldnt buy any beta acc, but if someone gives me 500 bucks, of course I would sell it!
