Rampant Exploiting

Paragus1Paragus1 Member UncommonPosts: 1,741

We all know about the bugs.  But Funcom has been turning a blind eye to the rampant exploiting of their raid content.  When are they going to do the right thing and bring down the ban hammer against people?

Read HERE.

I quit their FoA program this weekend when more reports of exploiting were deliberately put on the backburner.

    Official forums = FAIL

One of the things I loved about Dark Age of Camelot was the sense of community. We had no official GOA-run community forums. Mythic and GOA staff could choose to comment at any community site out there, it’s not all centralised and it worked pretty well.

I agree, The lack of a centralized DAOC forum made for less Flaming it seemed. Although I wonder, perhaps that was just the way times were back then..a more innocent forum age. =The flames of Blizzard forums seemed to have spread to pretty much every MMO that has come out since. Also, there are plenty of AoC flame threads on other sites ...like...ahem....here

    That's just overflowing with maturity.

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

I agree with what you say about exploits Paragus, but you know some of those messages on your picture are a bit disturbing. Ganking, Pk'ing people at way lower levels, jumping on people when they are killing a boss? Sounds like Eximos guild!

But thats what you get when all can speak to people, not like some faction games :)

Was I crying? was I dragging my guild drama into this? NO

Is the game about guild politics and drama? YES

There is pretty obvious stuff going on from the comments in the picture.

At least all races can attack each other... and talk to each other...

Misery loves company, that's why your here right? Negative thread jump on the bandwagon.

Point is there is lots of unseen exploiting that goes on and not much is done about it right now, Fugitve System will certainly be interesting.

Good call, when it comes to AoC, they promised steak, then served up a steaming plate of dog meat. Yummy, they say its got the "potential" to taste good. Good say sir!

Thing is I have heard stories on my server of people being banned or suspended for PvP actions like attacking someone to close to a rez pad.  Other times they say its OK and do nothing.   But exploiting the raid content, no problem.

  • CymdaiCymdai Member UncommonPosts: 1,043

Paragus, your screenshot is one of the reasons I have *always* been supported the concept of no communication between gankers and gankees.

People who play MMO's seem to have forgotten that it's just a game. I think it's rather pathetic, honestly, but it's just another case to be used to argue that the age requirement has absolutely nothing to do with actual maturity.

Hell, I remember in my old guild on Deathwhisper, we had a relatively nice guy in it... save for when he was killed. Some of you Deathwhisper folks might have seen the name "BobRoss" running around... yeah.

Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...

All mmogs suffer from kids ganking people that dont stand a chance, big death penalties however reduce the ganking.

Also main reason why people shouldnt roll on PVP servers,it's all mindless kiddy kindergarden with no one watching over them, they run rampant and start fighting. It's just a mindless gank fest on PVP servers,I figured people would understand that by now.

  • Paragus1Paragus1 Member UncommonPosts: 1,741

Ya, I made it a guild policy to screenshot people who sent hate tells.   Once I finished this montage, I put it on our server forums to embarrass the psychologically disturbed people.  Some people really can not handle being beaten in PvP.  Sending tells like this only makes the attacker want to kill you more just to see what you will say next.  I've been debating doing a write up on hate tells in pvp one of these days.

  • If you roll on a PvP server be prepared to get griefed, its a fact of your server. If you do not want to deal with it there are  PvE servers also.  But this is almost nothing compare with other more mature mmo´s, griefing is more rampant in Eve Online.

Well pvp is one thing, but ganking people much lower lvl then you is pretty pathetic. The guy you killed in the picture looks like he and you are from the Tyrrany server?

As far as communication between factions go, I think DAoC were the first ones to get it right: You fight, you die (in my case), you deal with it and move on.  Knowing that you couldn't communicate with your enemies just mades the PvP much better.  The occasional emote, like bowing to your fallen enemy, really had a big impact on the fun factor.
