I did the system requirements test and all my reqs work for the reccomended value except my RAM which is 498 or something and is under the 512 minimum... does anyone know if this game can still run?
and also lots of ppl in these forums have played like 5 or more mmorpgs lol... before this i only played runescape, like 4-5 hours on weekdays everyday for 2-3 years lol
Was the original EQ a game u could spend as much time as that on and not get bored? Im just curious because some ppl rate a game to be great and they seldomely play it

EQ is pretty much what all other MMOs try to copy. They were the first highly successful MMORPG.
Many people have played for 4+ years, and pretty much set the standards for MMORPGs.

EQ was a game that you would find yourself playing much more than what you played on runescape and never getting bored at all of the game. My guess is if you liked runescape, then this will blow your mind away, and you will love it.
I played runescape a couple years ago and then i bought the ps2 version of eq and loved it and then the hobby was mine.
The minimum requirements are given on the offical site.I strongly suggest you make them at least otherwise you only have yourself to blame.
I doubt the wopping 14 megs you are short will make a differance. Just be sure to kill all of the programs you have running that are not required for you to play.
EQLive has so much content that I was able to spend 4 years playing 40-60 hours a week and still not see/do everything. If you let the game be fun and didn't make a job/chore out of it you can easly not get board. It was just like anything else in life, its all what you make it.
Trust me, your going to want more than 512MB RAM for this game. It will lag to f... when your in a zone of 50+ other players.
If your harddrive speed is 5400rpm, and your RAM is 512MB. Dont bother at all with even loading this game.
Whats your video card?

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
Some people take this "no system in the market can handle EQ2's max settings" the wrong way.
There was nothing that said "There is no system that can handle EQ2's min. Settings!" Just because it has really high max settings doesnt mean it doesnt have really low.
An average computer will be able to handle this game just fine. You dont need a high end PC to run this game.
Also, Lag shouldnt be a big issue because with all these new games they seem to be getting rid of lag even when they are more high end. For example, how many of you thought the WoW stress test would be a hellfire of lag? THERE WAS NO LAG!
I think people still think its a problem because they dont listen to other people. I see people try to explain this but the people they are explaining to just dont seem to listen!
Playing: Vanguard SoH
Played: EQ, Planetside, SWG, WoW, EQ2
If you are wondering wheather your system will ba able to play EQ2 follow this link.
Its a site by SoE that will scan your system and tell you if its upto playable spec. or not. It does require that you use IE though but it should be able to help you out.
There is no link.
Im not going to tell you why, but trust me 5400rpm with 512MB DDRAM, is a no chance.

The thing is with EQ2 is it's audio aspect, so your sound card and microphone will be significate ( ability to chat in group.)
Even with a 4GHz cpu, 2GB system memory and 30GB/s bandwidth gpu (X800XT) you will not be able to run the game in 'highest' detail settings. Due to the extensive detail in characters and transparent overlays. Having a performance hard drive (10krpm, 8MB cache, sata [150MB/s]) will do alot to improve in game performance since the client will have to pull data from the hd into sys memory. So if you are stuck with a 1990s motherboard with a pci southbridge and integrated sound card you will have a degraded game.
ps. I think SOE has a deal with nvidia to optimize the game for the GF instead of the ati cards (gpu.)
pss. also having broadband into the game servers will do much to lessen lag (20 to 30 ms ping plays alot beter than +300ms dial-up.)
Fact that you tried it for 10 mins shows no one will pay attention to you.
Heck if you bother to read on this forums you would know we don't even take suggestions from people who tried a mmorpg for anything less then 1 week(most times we say a month to make review ).
As all true mmorp players know it takes a while to actually get a feel of a mmorpg and give an opinon.
Nope this is not about EQ its a bout all mmorpg horizons,AC,UO etc.
Heres some suggestions from Kunou..
Video card (this is what im getting)

And for your ram problem it depends on what you got .. i have DDR SDRAM 333MHz.. just try to find a stick with 512MB thats compatable with yours.. they arent as much as videos cards like 60-70 dollars
