So... I've played lineage 1 for 6 years or so, with a 1-year break for wow (wasted time), and about 4 month break for lineage 2.
Can anyone recomend a game with either no level cap (lineage 1 ish), or a extreemly dificult to reach one (lineage 2 ish), that 99% of ppl that play wont reach, with a fairly-free PvP system, that you continually advance in solo or with 2-5 man group? I'll go into what I don't want and what I want here real quick, and see if any games come close to matching my description. The lack of any kind of policing of bots/hacks ect by NC and general lack of any support for lineage 1 (in the US at least, it is still NC Softs #2 money maker over all, but almost all of that is generated from Korean servers). I would prefer to avoid any other NC soft games, as both lineage 1 and 2, I liked quite a bit, but were made nearly-un-playable due to lack of support/server policing.
My time in MMORPGs have taught me alot about what I don't want...
Please no faction-based pvp, if your allies can't turn against you, it takes the entire aspect of politics out of the game.
Please no game where a dieing has no meaning... 'oh well, guess i'll run back', if killing someone has no negative impact to them, whats the point, if I kill someone, I want them to lose sleep over it, and if I die, I want it to ruin the rest of my day.
Please no games that cap out anything you can do solo or small party in a couple months, and require waiting for 25~40 people to get on to be able to do anything to advance your char, leading you to spend hours of game time dancing in town. Not that it can't have large raids, but I should always be able to advance my char without having to wait for 25 people to all be on at the same time.
Preferably no instanced bosses... if your not competing against other people for them, whats the point.
Please no all-items worth having are non-tradeable non-economy system.
Please no heavily botted/hacked games.
And about what I do want...
A game that I can log in and be advancing my char within a couple minutes, whether my friends are on or not.
A game I wont max my char out in, and have nothing left to do.
Preferably a 2d/3d isometric game with nice graphics (I.E> Lineage 1, diablo), although I could live with well done 3d (I.E> Lineage 2), but would rather avoid cartoon 3d (I.E> WoW), or a 2d/3d isometric game with bad graphics (I.E> any 2d/3d isometric game i've found besides lineage or diablo)
A competative PvE environment that fuels an open-pvp system (I.E> wars over hunting grounds/bosses, ect)
An open economy where nearly all (if not all) items are tradeable/sellable.
A well policed game with no/nearly no bots, hackers or gold sellers.
An active and involved GM/Support system.
KK thats about it that I can think of for now... any ideas? I've seen a few that look like they might be somewhat close to what I want, but, I dunno...

I was under the impression there was no PvP in FFXI...
I'm kinda looking at eve online... I dunno though, i gotta look at some sites and figure out some of the basic gameplay.... from what i've seen on forums, theres not much/any pve, just pvp, training skills and making money...

Im basically looking from the same type of game (have been looking since I stopped playing AC 1 4-5 years ago) but I am starting to think there are no such games anymore.
All new MMORPGs are basically super quick to level, instanced and with heavy restrictions on PvP or no PvP at all.

I liked lineage 2 alot, but there was a few major problems with it...
1. Every single person I talked to said you needed to buy adena with rl money to play.
2. Items all dropped as components and you need a dwarf char to make anything, which skews the game economy alot, making it nearly imposible to make money in the game without having alot of experiance in the game, and leveling up your own dwarf, which fuels #1.
3. Bots run pretty rampant fueling the sources that enable #1
4. The soulshot/spirit shot system which fuels #1 and #3
5. Boss system sucks (at low/mid lvl at least), atempted bosses many times, but never got one below 97% health, lol
other than that, I really really liked lineage 2... I actually played it during halloween last year and got lucky with their event, and made some decent adena and got some respectable items, lvled up my elf silver ranger to 35 or so (if I remember right... 5 lvls after 2nd class transfer, whatever level that is, maybe it was lv45, I dun remember), but, didn't see much future in it, as you have to buy adena to be able to buy soulshots to hunt with ppl, or you can just solo without soulshots and take a while longer to level (which is what I was doing), and I refuse to buy online money with rl money... Maybe i'll give it another try, it was pretty fun, aside from the 5 points I noted above, and some of those go away I think when you hit the high levels.
P.S> Lin2 graphics are amazing... U gotta love elven panties.

P.S.S> I play lineage 1 still right now, but it is getting old fast latly... nearly all my friends have either quit or sold their accounts (which is understandable... some of the accounts they leveled out sell for 4-5 grand), and over 1/2 the population on the US servers is korean/taiwanese/chinese and don't speak english
another game i've been keeping an eye on is aion, although it looks like the same thing will happen to it, that happened to most NC games that are korea developed (lineage & lineage 2)... release in US with little/no staff or support on this side of the water and kill what would otherwise be a good game.

I also heard that Aion will be "casual friendly" which means that dedicated players will be able to hit the cap in a couple of weeks, or even days if it is like AoC.

Yeah, that would be a good option. Rohan has a pretty strong grind with PvP, although I am not sure if there is a cash shop (may want to look into it).
Another option could be RF Online, although I think that Rohan has a bigger grind.
Good luck OP.

This game is innovative, has superb graphics for a relatively new game, and has a mellifluous soundtrack.

btw ...about rohan
DONT
game is full of botters and without ppl to take care of them
lemme repeat
FULL
and idk to me .....after weak or two of playing look like a game for kids
i mean on lvl 40 u can still lvl like 150%exp in 1 day, pets r stupid(monkey, mouse, bunny O.o, ...)
only thing that i liked in rohan was upgrading system
...and there is a gambling game ...(something like black jack)
well anyway my advice is to try requiem
>cheers<
try MU Online i think u will love it
it's diablo clone, similar to lineage with better graphic and it's grind with no level cap or cap at lvl 450 (sry cant remember)
my friend play this for 3 years now and only got lvl 350+

If you want PURE grindish and no level cap i'd look at Kal Online. Some what open pvp need to buy ingame item assassin mask if you die with mask on you lose xp and chances of dropping gear, Castle siege castle owners are guilds with an alliance of 7other guilds against every other guild in the server and their alliances, There are dungeons but they are not instanced alotta fighting for kills and sining(see above), Graphics could be better(but for a free game thats asking a bit much), hacking(usually just into walls and the ground) and gold spam are both small problems from time to time as well as scams but most scams are easy to notice even for noobs to the game, Death SUCKS at high lvl due to the xp loss.
Thats about all i can think of this looks horrid i'd totally fail in writting class lol but heres the site to explain more http://www.kalonline.com/
P.S this game took 2 years of my life just to get 1 char to 40 could be i was leveling 3 at once tho to.
