Ok I am confused... Why would anyone even bother to log on and then type two exclamation marks? Is this some sort of secrect handshake for a underground society? Was very informative and enlightning.
Yea I did try to log on a few mins ago and see that something is amiss. Played for a month to try it, and need a game to play badly. Trying to refrain from spending the money but still see some hope within this game. But then again I preordered Horizons and the book. <ducks>
I don't know why I even bother posting in a place full of WoW and EQ2 fanbois. Go BACK to YOUR forums, hosers. I need to find out who let you out of the cages, geez.

This is a MMORPG forum.... we disscus MMORPGS.... SoR is a MMORPG.... so we discuss it and it SUCKS...
yeah. release in europe tomorrow, they have to have a pretty big patch to send with the game or else this fairy tale will be short. I like the open beta, the graphical design is amazing but i think the gameplay is to shallow. I might pick it up as i have no MMO atm.
I am looking forward to meeting my open beta friends in the retail, and making new ones as well. Having recently quit UO, I am happy to have a new MMORPG with a really good, mature and intelligent community.
All the good people I met in Open Beta are the main reason I chose this as my next MMORPG, although the modular action system, the dynamic mobs, the gorgeous scenery, the tradeskills, and the faction system are also very much a reason to play. Also, after over a year of Age of Shadows, I am quite happy to leave the "item based game" behind and play a game where crafting and resource gathering will be the primary source of the best items.
I am glad that they stuck to their original concept of having game content revealed by players as they explore the world in retail, rather than responding to all the criticism by letting this information come out in the open beta.
Content in this game is intended to be dynamic and will depend at least somewhat on the actions of the playerbase. That is a refreshing change for me and I hope that it is implemented well.
I also played the open beta and made many friends very fast. The skill system was great and being able to lvl to 250, no i dont plan on power gamin, in so many different branches of skill is good variation and requires people to specialize and be useful to the community. the word community has strong meaning in this game and i was impressed by most people, although there were many many many many many many many question on newb island that more intelligent players found themselves answering on newb island. They need a better tutorial and a less steep learning curve. The enviornment and character design is awsome and the different choices for gathering(hunting animals, heh master kipee are awsome, nothing like an original 20ft tall creature on an alien planet, as well as gather and searching for choice mats.) your materials for crafting is great too. The bad part about open beta was many stupid bugs were present. at one point there was a huge naming bug where a bunch of skills were all jumbled but this is sure to be fixed, they could never leaves this in retail, never ever. So i expect retail to have a few problems, but i didnt ever get stuck or get lagged and i had 1 crash for some unknown reason and i played at least 50-75 hours(lost track of time XD always a good sign) on my bad comp with a geforce2(graphics still looked awsome, my little card still kicks it somehow) so its not that bad to crash once i suppose. This game will have alot to offer when it's cleaned but maybe you wanna wait a few months, and join us in a kitin invasion. heh i cant wait for an invasion.... or this game.
Tried: EQ, SWG, LII, and the open beta for RYzom
Liked: not EQ, not SWG, not LII, and the only MMO i ever thought about when i wasnt playing, while in school, or anywhere away from my comp. the only game ive been addicted to other then this was Starcraft in my life so it gotta have somtin. I also will play WoW and maybe EQII so im not playin favorites im just saying what i think is a good game. they all got something of there own to offer.
If your looking a game with at least some originality, this has got some. Peace
My only complaint is that they won't let us on the forums anymore. I went over today to check what people were saying, and said, wow a makeover, cool. I clicked the forums button, and it said I had to login, so I did, it said login wrong, try again. I cut and pasted the same username password I've been using since July. no go. meh.

The new forums are only for customers now. I'm in and I think they made a good decision. Discussions on the forums are now based on the games (questions about the games, about the story, roleplay, etc) and it prevent trollers from bothering real players with other MMORPGs as it was during open beta.

I'm sorry Cilar, I would agree with only allowing subscribers to post, but the only reason to prevent non-subscribers to even view the post live forums is to cover up how bad a game is. A lot of people on the fence will peruse forums for the first few weeks, to see if a game is really worth buying or not. Game companies realize this and things have to be pretty dire for a game to cut off that access entirely.
Normally, I would say that people can always just go to a fan site and read feedback there, but there are no really active English language fan sites. WoR is gone and Warcry never established an active forum audience for the game.
Ryzom is very incomplete and falls well short of the hype. In fact, the CEO continued to hype features very recently that are not only not in game yet, but likely wont be in for a long time to come.
I can't speak to the European audience, it may be much more active, but the English speaking player base of early adopters for this game is slim. The undoubtedly larger group of people who are curious, but need more convincing, will see closed forums and run the other way, because it's always a sign of a game with major problems.
I count myself among the people who will keep an eye on Ryzom, to see how it progresses, but if they continue to deny read access to the games forums, there is no way I will purchase the game. I know I can't trust Nevrax hype, so lacking a players forum that shows good progress being made on the game, I'm not going to touch it.
Nevrax has made just about every mistake you might expect an inexperienced team to make, which is sad, since most of those mistakes could have been avoided with a little research into what has worked, or not worked, with previous mmorpg developments.
