Know your friend's character names

mark2123mark2123 Member UncommonPosts: 450

I'm doing some research on something I am considering.

Would you like to be able to join a website, find your friends by their real name and get a list of all their online gaming names i.e. their XBox 360 tags, their WoW character on which realms, their Eve online character - basically, any online games your friends play, along with their character names.

The advantage of this service would be that you could find your friend online, join the same games or servers as them etc and team up.

Does this interest you in principle?

Thanks.

Not really. I would never put my real name anywhere online.

So facebook and Friends Reunited are not your thing, but millions of others are happy to do this via those websites.

If you add your name and town to a website, you are not really giving anything away - the electoral roll or phone book will contain as much, but only your friends will look you up - to others, you are just a name.  I'm not proposing that major details are revealed.

    Absolutely not.

The entire concept of Myspace, Facebook, Livejournal, and the like are one of the worst plagues known to the internet. They're even worse than 4chan and Somethingawful. Why would I join something that was just a glorified Myspace that was just thematically focused on video games?

If I want my real life friends to know who my characters are in various games online, I'll tell them myself.

No, because I'm not willing to reciprocate.
