I want to see you on these same forums come January and admit to me that all your posts were just a little foolish. And if Darkfall does release and is playable, then I will certainly play, you can PM me your name and I will allow you to kill me in the game 10 times for ever having such doubts about your beloved game. Deal?

dont need to kill you the humility of you being wrong is enough ..

That's not the point; they change direction all the time.

    1. Hoax

    2. Vaporware

    3. Failure if not all features are in at launch.

    4. Failure if it isn't released in 2008.

They will keep do this so they wont feel like they were wrong.

I have not, I'm just commenting on what you pointed out. I'm not a fan of either game at the moment. Although I am looking forward to seeing what Darkfall comes through with.

Wahen i watch those videos, im having a hard time of not thinkng about WoW when i see WAR. That alone is a reason why DF feels more "real".

DF have something we havent seen much of. None of those lame auto attacks, characters standing still for seconds before they begin to move....in a fight! , or lightning effects as soon something moves.

He never mentioned Darkfall in this statement. Therefore, why do you attack him/her for posting the truth, the thread is neurotic, please see 'neurotic behavior' so you can understand.

You just perfectly validated the point in less than a few minutes... time being another point.

Haha, spot on. I love how the trolls like to hide behind "Darkfall vaporz" when the other one isn't even talking about the actual game.

I left a place for your vote "WTF why didn't you post "this" video.  You are certainly welcome to post a link to any video that you think will outshine Warhammers beta video.
As far as the Warhammer video being from the Warhammer website, ofcourse it is!  I also went the the Darkfall website to look for a video there.  All I found was screenshots and I think a place to "download" a video.  I wanted an actual LINK to a playing video.  So I had to resort to Youtube.  I have seen many videos of Darkfall, and I think that the one I have posted is probably the fans favorite.  But by all means, lets see your link to any Darkfall video that you think can top that of Warhammer.
You claim not to be a Darkfall fanboy, but by your anger, you obviously are.
Look dude, don't be angry by my videos comparing the two games.  Warhammer Online is certainly competition that Darkfall will face.  That's not my fault.  And it's not my fault that you are pissed off or whatever because you can see that the Warhammer video obviously puts the best of your Darkfall to shame.
I am just bringing up Darkfalls competition here to discuss.  I can see what that does to you.

Sorry took so long for me to get back to this, I use to wait for DF back in like 06 I gave up on it. I'm actually waiting for Aion, now. I harbor no anger at all, I'm simply used one of the more common nicknames for Warhammer. Meanwhile, your pole and responses in this thread have been filled with nothing but venom towards the Darkfall crowd. If Darkfall did release in a feature complete state, bug free, and Warhammer was released as well, I can honestly say, based on the feature list Darkfall would be Warhammers superior by leaps and bounds.

Also, with regards to my statement about the video being a youtube video. The two subjects you put up are like comparing a homemade movie to a studio produced movie. If you are trying to get people's opinion on a matter you they shouldn't have to bring source material to your argument.

Well if it does release this year then it couldn't be #1#2, or  #4 that your posting. Should it release anywhere near feature complete then  #3 is gone as well and you can tell all of us doubters (yes just plain doubters. I don't hate DF I just doubt all of its promises and refuse to believe 100% of the hype like you)

The fans change their direction just as much (ie the comprehensive video will be out in a few weeks, (weeks go by) oh wait they have more important things to do, when they said weeks they ment a month or so, (2 months later) of wait well it will be out next month etc. etc. etc.) so stop playing games. If its out this year you can tell me I'm wrong as well, If its not guess I get to tell you. Sounds far to me, but I'm sure you'll just post their just polishing it some more or some such so you won't be wrong. (funny how that works)

If they can't get a video out in less then 3 months how can they beta, publish, and launch (etc ,etc) in only 4 more? (Oh and if they are taking vacations now what do you think they will be doing as the holidays arrive?)

      Cheers

WoW sounds like your scared you'll be wrong, and have to actually admit it? If its out this year (roughly 4 months left, hey wheres that comprehensive video?)  I will be humbled and you can talk all the smack you want. If its not out what do i get, oh wait let me guess another excuse, ie. their just polishing it more, or they're just a small developer you can't expect them to actually stick to the release dates they give etc. etc. etc. Which will of course all be followed with a statement of how DF WILL be the greatest game ever because Tasos's has never lied.

I have a bad feeling about this WAR, EA thing.

We know Aventurine is about 50 developers right now, they begun with 4 in 2001. And they are supposed to work on their own "dream MMO".

But WAR must have hundreds of developers, still they have to cut features! And why? Its because someone else own their money. They cant use power to make a really amazing MMO. And thats something thats scare me a bit.

Its EA Games thats telling Mythic what to do. I bet its then that cut the features from WAR. So they could release it earlier.

Its the same thing as producing movies. Just because you have Michel Bay and Universal handing out the money, doesnt mean its gonna be a good movie. They become to controlled.

Maybe we can see some smaller company that can do whatever thay want making something their own and good for once?

Look, EA has started to change somewhat lately, I think even the CEO admitted they've done the wrong thing by dev studios in the past and what not. Anyways, the big thing is EA wants in on the MMO cash cow.

Now, WoWs next expansion WoTLK is getting close. It will launch soon, probably in the next 6 months is not unrealistic, lets say early 09.

WAR was due to release early 08 but got delayed till Sept 08 (Q3 2008). Queue fans getting annoyed. AoC has launched and from all reports has bombed. I'm sure EA/Mythic were sweating a bit on this, but they'd be sleeping easier now. And the next big future MMO release is ofcourse WoTLK.

Now, yeah you can say "blah blah they are different games etc etc", but the reality is no new MMO (and certainly not a Fantasy MMO) would be stupid enough to launch at the same time as WoTLK. "Different fanbases" aside, it just wouldnt be smart and would harm that games launch.

So, if WAR releases in September, it gives them some nice advantages:

    1) beat WoTLK to market. 2) not have another delay and annoy the fans again. 3) out for Christmas 08 and holidays

All these things will help sales, help players get into the game, and hopefully subscribe past the trial month.

If they arent going to launch soon, as in before xmas 08 and WoTLK, then they might as well have delayed till 6 months after WoTLK, which could be anything like mid/late 2009. That would simply be too long a delay. Late Q3/Q4 2008 actually seems like the perfect time to launch.

So, they sucked it in and cut content to make it. My hats off to Mythic for making this hard decision. It actually bodes well for the quality they are trying to achieve. Easier to add a class after launch rather than totally revamp it in 6 months and annoy everyone with major nerfs and buffs.

I'm not sure how easy it is to release a new class assuming that class balance is reached in beta. As for content, you are probably right. That said it is NEVER smart to take away content in front of your customers. Who knows, maybe that was the feature they were looking forward to...

Yeah thats true. People who were looking forward to playing a certain class are obviously disappointed. I really liked the sound of the Empire tank (basically an insane crazy knight). But I'm not in beta, and there plenty of other classes to choose. Any but Elf is all good for me.

As for the lost cities, yeah its hardly ideal, but hey, I'd much rather be hacking down foes in their one capital city 2 months time,  rather than twiddling my thumbs for another year so I can then do it in three.

In a way, this will focus the RvR more at the start of launch, and then allow for some very nice chunky content patches to add new capitals down the track, so it aint all that bad.

But anyways, this is the Darkfall forum. Perhaps they could learn a lesson here. MMOs are evolving beasts, and it perhaps wouldnt hurt Darkfall to launch without every feature. For example, if you could have the game 6 months sooner without the ship battles and "be a pirate" option, would the vast majority of Darkfall fans be happy. My guess is yes.

Your guess is wrong. Vanguard did this, AoC did this. Guess what? People were and are so mad about it. They want everything ever promised and they want it RIGHT NOW. That is why Darkfall will fail. Will some of these true hardcore fans like it, sure. But will millions flock to it? Not a chance. You can't promise the world and give them the moon, they aren't going to be happy. If you can't give what you promised in the MMO world, there will be hell to pay. I'm glad WAR told people what they had to do up front, its just in the best interest of the game and now people know they are trying to deliver what they promise. If they didn't say anything and then the class wasn't there, people would burn Mythic or EA's HQ down to the ground.

df devs have told us what they had to caught out to make release this year. taso is saying the game is feature complete whats so hard ot understand that. if there realyl going to release it must be.

because with that type of lie it will fail.

  • SlyLoKSlyLoK Member RarePosts: 2,698

    ^^

Could you repeat that? The only things I caught was " Tasos " , " Lie " and " Fail ".

Videos are nice for Hype, but I prefer to judge games by delivered features and gameplay.

WAR seems to be a stupid pvp game and Darkfall a 'I promise you all'.

The customers will decide how good/well liked the games really are.

Going through darkfall's features, where does it say "I promise you all" ?

And if Warhammer has to cut features and they had a feature list that is like only 10% as ambitious as Darkfall, what does THAT tell you??  Hmmm?

Not only that, but Warhammer is backed up by an experienced mmo developer in Mythic Entertainment who has already put out arguably one of the best mmo games ever with DAoC and is now backed up by the monster game company "EA Games" with enough cash flow to feed every hungry child in the world for life basically.  And Warhammer is having to take out some cities and stuff.  What does that do for your confidence that a 15 man unheard of team or whatever can actually come through with all the amazingly never-seen-in- an-mmo promised features?  Doesn't that seem just a little "too good to be true"?

I will grant Adventurine this much.  If they come out with an even half way stable game that has even HALF of its promised features, then Adventurine should be crowned as the best and most amazing mmo company ever and should have movies and books made about them for years!  ..You know those kinda of "Disney" type movies that help people understand that "anything is possible" and "if you only wish upon a star" type crap.

But really now.  Compare what Warhammer is doing with sooo much talent and all the money and resources they need VS what Adventurine is trying to accomplish.  Then seeing Warhammer having to have stuff cut out.   Now look at Darkfalls promised features again.  Use common sense now.  Actually THINK people.  Use your heads here.  Magic may be inside these mmo worlds we play in, but how plausible is this in our REAL world now?  Hmmmm?

Any comparison btw a game like Darkfall with a game like Warhammer is plain stupidity. Especially when they is 2 totally different games that attracts 2 totally different kind of players.

I wouldnt play Warhammer even if it were the only excisting MMORPG game arround. Most of the players waiting for Darkfall feel just like me. Warhammer isnt an option.
