To those in beta currently, will my graphics card work for WAR?

StellosStellos Member UncommonPosts: 1,491

Unfortunatly I have a RADEON X300 graphics card still.  But I do have 4 GB of RAM so that helps.  Will that graphics card be an issue or will it be okay.  I know that it worked fine when I use to play WoW so I figured if WAR was going for the same specs it should be fine.   Any of you know?

You will have to wait and see, no official specs have been released.

The only thing I have seen is if you have a system built with-in the last 3 to 4 years you should be good they have said. Otherwise they have not release specs as stated above.

Yeah I know there haven't been any official specs released.  That's why I targeted the question towards those already in beta.  Maybe someone in beta has the same graphics card and doesn't have any problems....atleast I hope:)

Fortunately I have a pre-ordered CE so atleast if I have to make an upgrade I can get it done before release.

MMMMM I guess if i had your card, which i do not I could state that I had your card and was in beta. But being as but for the guild beta they had higher spec machines only allowed into the beta I would guess no one has your card in beta. Might want to wait for open beta and hope.

This is hard to say as the optimization of the game is not fully completed. The lighting that they plan to put in the game is absolutely amazing. The textures are much better than WoW.

You will have to wait till the specs are released. But really, you can get an 8800gt for only $100 now... go buy it. That x300 is ancient old, you should even be able to buy an X1900XT for ike $50. Do yourself a favor and upgrade :P

    Playing: WoW,

Played: Aion, AoC, Eve, EQ, EQ2, LOTRO, Runescape, Guild Wars, DAoC, Planetside, SWG, WAR, Darkfall

    Wanting to try: DCU Online

Waiting For: Star Wars The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2.

I would assume you will need to upgrade to have a decent frame rate. 4gb of ram is good but I doubt this game will come anywhere near filling that up so it will mostly be empty space unless you're running programs in the background. *shrug* I'd save up some cash while we wait for launch, it couldn't hurt - and yeah decent cards are pretty cheap now.

i have the same card, couldn't get the AoC client running at all, i bet it will look like wow on a intel GMA (just a guess) so i'm upgrading anyway

No idea, just get the best one you think will work for a possible high graph game, look at me saving for a XPS desktop. So I think I'm good to go.

    Sorry, I'm under NDA.

J/K. You can play it with lowered settings. Also, your system memory won't help in graphics performance.

If you're looking to upgrade, would suggest looking into the ATI HD4850. It's cheap and really good.

The game looks like World of Warcraft.

I expect your graphics card to handle it just fine.  Do you have the other system specs for your PC?

Really? it seems like it'll take more

if you are running vista , 4 is a must, and 8 is just fun !

It will need more then WoW some people just dont know where to look for good videos or pics, WoW can run on a turd wit ha 9volt attached to it and that would be able to run on medium.

WAR will actually require a functioning PC of this milenia. you could build a WAR pc for 300 and be fine.

Check out some of Tiger Directs barebone PC's, they boot it all together for you ,and they are great since they know what they are doing for those who are unknown such as putting in black edition cores so you can overclock if you look into it or pay a few extra bucks to gain about a 800 mhz increase.

and 38zxx series is only like 100

I would assume you would be fine judging from screenshots of WAR in action. Maybe its not gonna win a graphics award but look what happened to Conan. :)

I thought about it to be 100% honest...  This was actually a better buy.  I didn't want a 2.5" 10k HDD.  I wanted the regular size.

I wanted 16MB cache too.   I have my reasons.  And yes... I paid that much.  Was only a couple pay checks.  Shit... the RAM alone was over $400.  Lol.
