So here is the main jist of what I wated to say: Linden Labs directly says their software is NOT a game. They created the software, obviously they know what it is, so if they say its not a game then it is NOT a game. Peroid. End of debate.
Since that crazy guy with the blue text will continue to argue and claim I didn't give him any proof, here is the PROOF: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17538999/
Linden Lab, the company that created the platform that is Second Life, is emphatic that their creation is not a game. “There is no manufactured conflict, no set objective,” says spokesperson Catherine Smith. “It’s an entirely open-ended experience.”

Its an MMOCAREBEARRPG, so I guess that does count as an MMORPG. Like many said before, its massive, its multiplayer, and its online, and you can role play your character...

The fact that I hate it and would punch anyone in the face IRL if they came up to me and told me they pay real money for Second Life doesn't count I guess..

Oh well, whatever floats peoples boat.

Oh but you have to admit, griefing is awesome in Second Life, mainly because the players are so stupid.

(I dont play it, never have, never will... but I speak from... videos I have seen )

The nerd fanbois may now flame me.

Actually, the griefers are stupid, because they think they're having any kind of an impact at all.

Anyway, since you don't have to pay for SL, I'm not sure what your point is. Plenty of places to roleplay (Star Wars, Trek, BSG, sword and sorcery, dark futures, etc.) Actual roleplay, not this garbage you see listed in the left hand column that people pretend are RPGs simply because you play a character with stats. There's no roleplaying going on in any of them.

Myeha dont really understand why anyone with some sort of a life would play that. One of the main reasons why normal people go and chat in forums is because you can install games on your work computer. But why waste time wher you could be having fun to play in a 3d chatroom. Beats me.

I'm not a no life that sits in front of his computer all day long, I'm an intern that sits in front of his computer all day long.

how many of you pay real money to play real mmorpg to have an high level avatar tha has nothing special because just clicking the button millions of times everybody can have the same?

Can't understand some senseless attacks someone make to SL.

Most people woory about what the others do in SL instead of thinking what they could do.

Actually i would have to say after watching a mate play a Sim set up for pure roleplay (which was fighting e.t.c not some porn sim) it was probably the most amount of RP'ing i have seen in a game to date as much as i don't like this game it can be a MMO so long as you are on the right SIM but for the most part it is a virtual Chat channel.

    Simple Answer:

They lack ANY ability to think for themselves & be creative.  Anyone can create if they give it enough time to learn the skills.

Rather than put forth an effort to do something, most would rather sit on their ass & let a company do it for them.

What most people pay for  playing WoW a year, I make 3x that or more a month.  Not selling sex.  Not selling RP stuff.  Not selling land.  Just skins for avatars.

Once winter comes along, I'm cashing out some of the money I made in SL and going on a nice vacation.

Enjoy playing RPGs folks!  It gets you far in life!

And due to the fact that yelling in SL is often accompanied by virtual penis assaults I recommend not provoking the fanboys without good reason.
