The players who are angry at Jagex for "ruining" the game have a name: Pissed-Off-Ex-Scapers(POES), so shouldn't the players who actually like the game have a name. I got nothing right now, so we're going to need some ideas.

I lost all my dignity a long time ago.

you see the thing is is that The pissed off ex scapers actually DID like the game, what  you don;t seem to understand is what the company did with the game is what has upset these players. People do not get pissed off when someone breaks something they don't care about, they get pissed off when they break something they actually enjoyed.  I think people oftne draw the wrong conclusion when they assume that POES don't like anything about the game when that is totally untrue. In fact all I did was defend the game prior to last  year when Jagex took it too far. I have repeatedly on these forums  said good things about runescape as well. We are not a bunch of players who know little about the game and want to pretend that everything is great when it isn't though. We are players that have played for years, poured alot of time and money into this game . We used to defend this game just as you do.

Runescape was all my friends and I  talked about. Sure I haven't spent as much time on the game as you have, but I have spent a part of my life on it only to see it thrown to the garbage. Deviliscious, may I join the POES?

Sorry buddy, you're not gonna find anyone who enjoys the game on these forums.  In case you haven't noticed, almost all these threads are how jages ruined the game.  I'm pissed off too about how jagex ruined the game, but it's not worth fighting to make it seem like everythings all right when it cleary isn't.

If your pissed off at them then you are already a POES, there is nothing you need to do except speak your mind.  Though you could post on "We vets ned a name thread" that Mike started to let him know since it was his idea. LOL.

Precisely. I used to defend runescape all the time. I thought it was a really good game. But Jagex went too far with their updates and what really pisses me off is that they don't give a shit about us veterans. A jagex mod even made that clear on the official forums. Their agenda is to attract new players to the game, but at the expense of their veteran players. It's obvious that if you go onto their forums and make a suggestion they disagree with you get your thread locked or your post hidden.

These updates have essentially destroyed the game but that wasn't what completely ruined the game for me. If it weren't for their rudeness and lack of consideration of players; opinions then I might be still playing. I know that many innocent players have also been perm muted and banned for the stupidest reasons ever. This is why I am so pissed off at them. The updates also pissed me off but I might still be playing if they hadn't removed their customer service.

What am I, chopped liver? I enjoy it. What are you going to call me, then, since there's aparently no one else who likes it?

Meh, Im one of those pissed off people. Runescape will never be what it was, because now they are making the game for users under 13 years old. Really theres no point to Runescape anymore, before the point was Pking...now whats the point? After you get 99 in everything and beat every quest (if you do that before you get bored of the game) theres nothing to do, unlike the old Runescape..but Jagex dosent care

Tuss, don't listen to them. I am still a HUGE fan of this game. You're not lonely.

You and me can start a Pro-RS club from scratch.

Okay, there's me, Ratboy51, my pal in-game (will not disclose name), and a guy I saw on Guild Universe called Monkeychow who wants to start a Mega Runescape clan. I think that's a pretty good start. Mabye we can be called something like RS+ (pronounce the letters, not the word it stands for). I think it has a nice ring to it: rs plus, the plus standing for the fact that we're positive about the game.

Yes, you are chopped liver. Maybe the name for what we (I support by the way) should be called is RSCL Runescape Chopped Liver Or Runescape Classic -.- like the good old days.

Runescape was not made only for PvP, you can still skill and talk with friends.. Plus there is Bounty Hunter. Which isn't great but it's not as bad as people make it out to be. The game HAS NOT BEEN RUINED! We can still enjoy it. And just because a few updates aren't good does not mean that future ones won't be. There's even a rumour going around about new PvP mini games coming out.

As I am sure you are well aware of Jagex recent announcements at the gaming conventions that they have now lifted the 13+ age limit on this game. They  have implemented quick chat so that players will able to only see and respond in quickchat and will not be able to speak openly. These "bad " updates are only the first steps in busting their way into the childrens market by creating a totally child friendly and safe game. Their current target audience is now children under the age of 13 and their upcomming updates are going to be targeting this age group. They hope to have even more child safety features installed by the 2nd and 3rd quarter of 2009. Jagex themselves have stated this is now a "junior mmorpg" or starter mmorpg, because they are only in the business to get players in the door, not keep them there. They do not want you to stay too long on this game because you will see it for what it is. Rather than make improvements to solve that, they are focusing on turnover instead.

They have alienated their mature audience and are now focusing all new content on children, It  appears as they have taken this stance " if you can't beat them join them." This is explains why they never bothered to de modd the 11 year olds they made mods, or why they refused to ban the underage kids that always walk around mispelling swear words.. Even though they lied on contract to even play the game in the first place.... go figure.

That's for under 13s. Over 13s will still be able to talk normally..

Just wait.. Runescape is a child predators playground. Them now openly allowing children to play this game falsly makes parents think this is a "child safe "game.  I am sure you understand what happens in the childens market, and how much more carefully scrutinized they become when taking this status.  Even though there is parent controls in place kids will find ways to get around them, and as they do parents  and child protection agencies will be bringing this to the forfront.  You cannot make the claim that your game is a "Child safe " game unless you actually make it that way. There will be no way around it in the future, they will either have to remove open chat or reinstate the 13+ age rule. Why? because otherwise it is fraud. The sheer amount of child predators on this game that I have seen in my years of playing is disturbing, and Jagex's lack of response in dealing with them was sad. They chose not to deal with those players, and yes those players are still playing this game because they do not play it for items, skills or levels, they play it to prey upon children.  It is all a matter of time,  If they want to hold their footing in the childrens market they have to make drastic changes or parents and child protection agencies will come down on them. Those drastic changes will eventually have to be no open chat, that is just the way it is in the under13 childrens market.

Here's what they do for under 13:

They're bringing out a parents page in Q1 or Q2 of 2009(why the hell it's taking so long is beyond me, it's kinf of pathetic).  So now kids under 13 are running around with Jagex's permission of being underaged (unlike before where you had to be older than 13).  Once the parents agree with this "Parent Page" the parents now have a choice.  They could either allow their kid to talk openly OR only let the kids talk using quick chat until they are 13.  I believe they can only read other players who use quick chat as well.

I agree with you, it's a sick place, but they will never remove open chat.  They have the parents agree to the "Parent Page" which probably makes it legal.  The parents are agreeing with everything.

Still, it's wrong to make the game okay for 13 yr olds with the kind of community this game has.. They probably just got scared because of SOE's Free Realms lol.

What stops the kids from making a new account themselves and setting their own permissions? Nothing.  So all of these features are pointless in the first place. If they do not have features in place to prevent them from making new unrestricted accounts then it cannot claim to be a "child safe " game. Yes they can take the claim that it is " child freindly" but they cannot claim it is "child safe" if the game  is not.  I am not sure of the restrictions in the other countries, but The USA has very strict laws determining this. Hell here they won;t even allow Harry Potter or Tom Sawyer books to be allowed in schools..

I agree.  It's simple just to click "I am over 13 years of age" and to play.

And I, and most others, know a lot of people who did just that. However, back then if you said you were under 13 they simply stopped you from playing. This meant that everyone would click "back" and then select 13-17 instead. Nowadays, it allows you to create a new account which hopefully should mean that less people lie about their age than before.

I'm not a big fan of quick chat though... It's too... robot-like.

THESE forums. There's plenty of other places out there to find supporters. Mainly in-game. And there are PLENTY of players in-game.
