Hmm...I shutter to think they are going cross platform with this.

Listening to fifteen year olds call you a "fag" after wiping the floor with them usually isn't too entertaining.

Its not the butt kicking thats the problem, its the attitude associated with it, and the fact that most console gamers are generally teenagers and young adults (or veteran old timers, in contrast).

The kids aint the biggest problem. It's the "dumbing down" that happens with crossplatforms.

    exactly my point,

i like COMPLEX mmorpgs. And sorry to say so but any mmorpg that will run on a console can NOT be complex. -- I still hope for a SWG 2.

I've heard people say the exact same things on PC online games. I don't really see one as "more mature" than the other. I do agree with Darth Pete though that a tone down of accessability and functionality would possibly be present for PC users in a console/PC title.

Is Final Fantasy XI dumbed down then?

I'm no great cxonsole fan, but I thought Final Fantasy was a very very solid MMO.

FFXI on PS2 forced players to buy a keyboard for it.I played on the PS2 and it was a great game. It also failed on the PS2 and is doing ok on the 360. The problem is the game makers will dumb the game down so it is easier for a wide market of players. This leads me to think it will be WoW in space and is a fucking shame.

Cause Barrens General chat is the pinnacle of maturity right?

Give me a break...PC gamers don't want a cross platform game why?  Because it'll finally prove that a game can be great on both platforms without dumbing it down for the "console kiddies" And then PC gamers won't have anything to justify paying twice as much for a PC than a console.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

My worry is that this game will

    - give the player the feeling of being part of the Star Wars Universe realised through iconic classes.

    - have action FPS based combat system.

    - have no player driven economy

    - be played by my 12 year old niece on her PS3.

Ok, I wont say FFXI isn't solid, but thats not a complete answer. FFXI has extremely slow combat, radial or drop down menus instead of a real user interface and the graphics are well, not very good.

FFXI makes a great console game, but it doesn't come anywhere close to living up to a PC standard of MMO quality.

FFXI is what half a decade old? And it still sports more subscribers than a lot of the newer MMos

Nah, that has never been an issue.  I never lose regardless the crowd.  What does bother me is the numbing down that happens due to cross-platforming.

Well I would not get too excited, unless you are very young and expect to live at work.  San Francisco is the most expensive place to live in the US.    While it would be cool to work on the project, unless you have friends or family in the area expect to be always broke.

My thoughts on cross platforms is that the PC is still way ahead of the consoles, and since that is still true game content will sufer as a result. I think that by the time sony releases a PS5.  the PC and Console will be on = footing and this will no longer be an issue.

I honsetly look forward to that day as MMO's even the less popular ones will draw much larger crowds and provide a more interesting overall experience.
