I hope the pet is unique for the collectors edition people, and its a VERY cool pet.

It seems to me that they are offereing a great deal here. It is 30 extra dollars for the Collector's Edition, and there is a LOT of extra content. The soundtrack, the DvD, the cloth map, and the DvD/CD combo are of high value. Most companies will only include half of these items for Collector's Edition (SWG, EQ), but Blizzard- yet again -goes above and beyond SOE and all other monetarily centric companies to offer soem fun content that will keep people interested. The pet will be unique, that much has been stated, and I am sure it will be something fun.
One thing I wonder is how much of this will be coming with the regular retail product. Will there be both DvD and CD or just one? Will there be a free month? I'm guessing that might be the case, but you can't tell right now. I see it as a waste to add a DvD since everyone who has a DvD Player also has a CD drive. If they are going to do anything at all, make it just DvD. Otherwise, stick to CD like everyone else does. DvD may install faster, but why risk compatibility? I think it makes little sense, but I'm sure they have researched the numbers and it played out.
Anyway, I can't wait to see what they will have in store for us at release! A great company like Blizzard (with a great record) will continue to put quality games out on the market. I am in the World of Warcraft beta test, and it is turning out very well. I suppose those of you who participated in the stress test can agree with me here. Blizzard is taking leaps and bounds in the gamin industy, and I hope they will set a new per for the online gaming industy. What WoW lacks in graphics (where EQ2 shines) it will make up for with gameplay and performane (what EQ2 lacks).
World of Warcraft will truly redefine the acronym MMORPG.

Now, I know the devs are busy people and there likely will be thousands of collectors editions sold, but I'm a little wary of the "Signed Collectors Edition game manual ". With SWG, they offered this and it was not hand signed, it was just embossed with the sigs of the developers. It was disappointing because even though I could understand why it might not be possible, many felt that it implied it was hand signed.
If a fan site was offering a signed copy of the game as a prize, you would expect it to be hand signed, same goes here. Unless they really intend to have devs autograph a bunch of copies of the manual, I'd rather not see this as an advertised feature.
Of course, if they really do hand sign them, that would really be a huge step above and beyond SOE.
(I do understand why hand signing may not be possible, but I just don't like the false? implication that they are actually signed).

the maps may come in handy, but I wanted the pet. since I reserved WoW in June I thought it would be okay to "invest" some more money for the collector's edition. I only wanted the pet really.
EDIT EBGames is selling it for 79.99
Sounds like a winner to me...
What will he do next?
I'm undecided on the CE... I like what they are including but I'm not sure the $30 extra is something that I can justify spending when I already know I'll be paying every month anyway.... I noticed they listed a free month as part of the CE, will you not get a free month if you just buy retail?? I kinda expected that you would get a free month when you bought the game whether it was CE or not... I guess this is just another question for Blizzard to answer at some point.
