I will make this short and simple. I have no more than $1500 to spend. I mainly use my laptop for basic stuff that this one can still handle but I am looking to upgrade somewhat for WAR. Now WAR shouldnt need a top of the line and thats good cause I am not able to afford top of the line lol.
So my question is, with thoes of you that know more than I do help me find the best laptop I can for $1500. I want another laptop since I bring it to work and play MMO's at work

Go and check out the Dell site.....some good deals there
Thats where I have been looking. I usually build my own desktops and this laptop I bought 2 yrs ago on sell from gateway. Its been decent enough (not a fan of gateway) but there is always sites ect that people swear by.
Well, here's a good laptop I saw a while ago on G4, got some great stats on it

200gigs of memory and 3gigs of ram, only 1250 bucks too, cheap and powerful
TY! I am not to familiar with Toshiba but talked to a few people that I know use them and some of my concerns (like cooling) arent concerns anymore. This is on its way to me. Again thank you for the nice find. Great price for what it offers. Tried to build one similar on Dell and couldnt come close for the price.
Well, Had you waited and not jumped on the first good deal you seem to find, You would have found an even better deal.
Ever hear of Dell XPS Gaming machines? Well, they are nice, real nice. They are expensive.
However, Dell bought out Alienware...and so now XPS is going away, for good. Alienware will now be the brand of gaming machines Dell sells, not XPS.
They will be very soon selling off all of their XPS machines very cheap. Which means, you can get the laptop I have ($3.5k) for under $1.5k.
I'm not sure WHEN this will happen or if It has already happened...but thats what I've been told by a good friend who works int he XPS department...or did =P.
Or...... you shoulda have checked Newegg. The ASUS machines are very well priced, and you could have still gotten a newegg extended warranty and it still would have been cheaper then most other Laptops you'll find.
Also Gateway is pretty decent although I'm not a big fan.
My options are still somewhat open, my parents are looking at laptops. If one comes along thats better than mine for nearly the same price I can always point them in that direction and trade them. They are not gamers so the rig wouldnt matter to much to them.
As to the XPS systems I like the looks of them but currently (like you said maybe shortly they will) but right now there prices still havent dropped. At the moment you cant get as good of a video card for the price of the toshiba. Maybe in the next few weeks they will drop it though *shrug* anyway ty all for the info the help is much apriciated.
Best Buy
Gateway FX Note Book
1,400 Bucks. I just bought one, can't reccomend it enough.
Oh another thing. Tech Support is very knowedgable white people. Sorry, It's True! Gateway does not get near enough credit for that!
I dropped it, Broke teh Hard Drive (Didn;t tell them that) Just told them it wasn;t working. They sent me a New Hard drive for free. - No extended Warranty - No Geek Sqaud BS!
I play AOC & Vanguard BALLS OUT!
Buy this Lap Top - I Can;t say enough good thimgs about it. I have spent alot of stupid money on stupid things but this is not one of them.
Yeah thats a very nice laptop. Desktop specs expect for cpu in the desktop its a quad laptop its a dual. There is also a new one I saw recelntly quatro or something like that a true duel core not moblie, 4gb of ram I think, 9 series vid card. And im pretty sure its under 1500.
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

Yeah. Forget the laptop. Unless it's totally upgradable, it's not worth it. You can build a very strong gaming rig with $1500. And with the option to upgrade it when you need to instead of buying a whole new laptop (depending on which part needs upgrading) it's a better choice imo.
Dunno how you feel about refurbished, I've heard nothing but the best reviews about Dell's though. Just ordered mine for $1250 (that's with shipping and tax). I think the laptop itself was 1050, then I ordered some extra stuff to go along with it.
It's an XPS M1530, 2.4 ghz core 2 duo, 250GB harddrive, 4GB ram, bluetooth enabled, intel wireless card, 9cell battery and the best graphics card they offer for that line, geforce 8600. If you go to the outlet site, go to laptops, set your search criteria to the model XPS M1530 (it has the 15.4" screen which is larger than the 1330 but will give longer battery life than the 1700), look for 4GB RAM (I suggest nothing less if you want your computer to run Vista well), and for graphics card put in 256mb (it'll give you the 8600 which is about the best they offer). Then relist everything by lowest to highest price. I like to go all the way to the right and find any that have the intel wireless card because it is supposed to get a farther range than the dell ones. Then after I find them, I check the processor. 2.4ghz might be more than you have to have, I wouldn't go below 2.0, but I think that's the lowest it gets in the 1530 anyways. After that, I started checking the specific details. There should be a link for those to the left of the processor. And I like to make sure it has bluetooth, and I looked for the LED screen, which was supposed to give you a brighter look, give you half an hour more battery life, and stay brighter for more years (regular screens apparently lose their brightness after a while). I ended passing on the LED screen, personally, because I found the 9cell battery. They offer 6cell and 9cell, the 6 gets about 2 1/2-3 hours of battery life, so that and the LED would be like maybe 3 1/3 tops, the 9cell gives about 4 1/2-5. I couldn't pass up a deal like that.
There are other extra things you can look for in the details. If it comes with a mouse or remote or different software. I ordered a bluetooth mouse and keyboard so that I can hook the laptop up to my larger HD TV and play games from my couch.
But with just the basic stuff ordered, you can find an awesome gaming computer for about $1020-1070.
