Patch of death....

Sure you fanbots will undoubtly rack me to the wall, but like I care. Just those interested in trying this game out, give it a month to iron out the latest update. Sense that realease till today, I have yet to be able to complete or turn in any quest on my account and after talking to a few friends in game the same deal has happened to them, but this bug isn't on everyone.

Taking this into consideration along with all the other problems this update has caused has made me cancel my subscription and wait awhile to come back if at all. Now sure, those life time subbers might not have a problem with it, but as a monthly subscriber I sure do.

While this is the first time I have actually experiance a game stopping issue like this with LOTRO , it was long enough to make me take that break and think "eh I have 4 50's , whats the rush?" and cancel the account at this time. Those that want to try it, it is a great game really! But just give it a week or so (I still think a month) till all these bugs are fixed.

I was sent an email response to my issue today and they wrote back " we were not aware people where having issues with not being able to complete quest or get new ones bla bla bla... " I say, have you actually read your own forums? Geez, I really love this company and their dev team, (been top notch) till this point anyways.

Have fun in LOTRO, but just for you new folks, give a month before jumping in ;)

I activated the trial last Thursday or friday and the server I am on came down about 6 times, then the other night for 7 hours! Never played LoTR and am coming from AoC(only other MMO I have played to date besides EQ). What really pissed me off was the fact that they happened to take the servers down everytime I had time to play lol. But I played tonight for about 4 hours and got to level 10(even tried some PVMP, which was.. interesting lol I had no clue what I was doing and got ganked by a group of about 15 players while I ran into some kind of fortification). Needless to say, just from the community I am subscribing basically, out of the 3 games I have played LoTR has the best/most mature community, and the dev team actually replied to a post I made(saying they were sorry that I happened to start during the issues, but to stick it out because they are working on it). Anyways tomorrow I am subbing :), and plan to stay a while.

on the PvMP , it's a lot safer on the moors if you travel en masse so to speak It's a nice diversion though isn't it. being able to participate in competitive PvP action within the first day or so of playing. Make sure you check out the chicken play also You will laugh your butt off.

Community as a whole is great, you still have some bad apples like in any community, the game is a blast no doubt about it, this is just informing people give it time till you try it out. This was really a patch of death for me, but the game has been (sense it was released) a great game. This is just a horrid time to try it out. Wait till the kinks are worked out. ;)

I'm surprised to hear they had a boo-boo, but then again, all games are subject to a mishap now and again. Of all the games I ever played, LOTRO was top notch on responding to and repairing issues. I am no longer a subscriber, but it's got nothing to do with the game itself. I just didn't have the time anymore, and no time = no point in sinking monthly dues into something I cannot play. However, soon as time comes back to my side I plan on reinstating my membership.

I started out with them in October of 06 and played right through from Alpha, to Beta, to the isengard server testing during game launch (which is actually still out there and running ... so while you all play the newest released, know that a group of about 1,000 people are in the background testing it round the clock before it's released!). I really love the dev team. (Patience is my favorite).

I definitely recommend waiting out the bugs because not only will they get them fixed, but it will be worth it in the end. It about broke my heart to have to stop my account. I miss the game terribly.

I started the trial about 2 weeks ago, and purchased/upgraded the middle of last week. All I can say is that I would not hesitate to recommend he game to anyone. I have not had 1 single issue since the start, and myself and partner prolly are playing 24/7 between us.

Its the most stable game I have experienced so far, and never see any issues in chat with others. Maybe its server related? Am on Euro server Eldar.

Great game, and remember - its the negative comments/actions of people that destroy games, not the game itself :)

I played last week without any problems.  However, when the Friday crowds hit my server went cablooey.  I wasn't affected by it much because I was out drinking till pretty late.   Was a bit annoyed that the servers wer down when I got home.

In any case, my servers were fine by Saturday morning.  Didn't have any issues all weekend.  I don't think 6 hours of downtime after a major patch is utterly unreasonable.  Especially since it had to do with server loads.  Whatever the problem was, they never would have had enough folks on test to catch it.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
