No, it was and still is a good game. Just because you specifically didn't enjoy it, gives you no right to pass judgment on it. Therefore I would kindly suggest you take your troll posts elsewhere, instead of on the boards of a game you apparently hate.

Like all games, it'll appeal to some and won't to others. Just don't fall for the hype. I've yet to see a game come out that wasn't overhyped.

    Same here, and I agree.

Hype or not it s the best game out there IMO. Testing have for awhile and i can say in eary testing i would have said i ll try it, now it s come a long way and it s brilliant. Some former DAOC players will say they don t like it as some will say they do. As a former DAOC player and current WAR tester it, IMO is DAOC a few levels better with ALOT of different things to do. Believe what you will but i say just wait and see how good it really is.

As far as game of the year, this will happen easily IMO.

" No, it was and still is a good game."

So what gives you the right to pass judgment on it? This forum is not even about that game, so you sir seem to be trolling as well.

As for the topic, in my opinion you should be cautious to give an endorsement to a game that is not even out yet. I too, hope this game will give new hope for the MMO junkie in me but acting like the op has in starting this thread and his comments is part of what gives these producers the go ahead to put out an unfinished game. Undying loyalty based on reviews causes games like aoc or tr to be released and sell as well as they do.

WoW PvP sux just because its partially stolen from DAoC so it to not fit the entire world at all, till WAR PvP is better than even the great RvR system in DAoC. There is just one concept that DAoC and WAR follow. WoW just do not have conception.

I forsee a lot of AoC players heading for WAR, since that game's heavily-touted PvP system isn't even implimented yet. Which never made sense to me- Why sell a game, when the selling point isn't in the game yet?

Also, WAR does PvP/RvR better than anything Blizzard has out there now. PvP in WoW is nothing more than a distraction- something to do when you hit the level cap and you're waiting on your guild's raiding night, or a raid instance to reset after its 3 day down time.

What's sad is that in WoW, the PvP gear you can get isn't really worth anything in PvE. That means you essentially have to have two sets of gear. Not so with WAR. Since the game's PvE is balanced around the RvR game. You can wear one suit to both. That's a huge bonus in WAR's corner.

I will still try to keep my expectations low though, because even though its mythic, there is always a chance that WAR might be an egg like Vanguard and AoC.  Oh man, they were bad.  lol

OMG someone with brains in this forum!

I think you described exactly what they are aming for.

Too bad they left out the underwater content. Well it's a minor thing but it's nice, the feeling when diving and exploring underwater. Only knowing you can do it it's good, makes you feel in a world. That's one thing I will miss from WOW.

Think I'll take the route of waiting until its released and playing the live version before jumping on the bandwagon.  Sure, I liked DAOC and hope this game exceeds it.

But in the end, might just not suit my tastes anymore, as I've come to appreciate harsher, more sand-box type games as I've grown older.

I am also waiting for WAR, but maybe this helps to lower the hype a bit:

When DAoC was released, the midlevel dungeons weren´t itemized. There was very few highlevel content (Raumarik totally lifeless).

Leveling in DAoC was a brutal grindfest. Do you remember camping in Keltoi, Spindelhalla or Finspot? Do you remember the notorious levels 45-50? Farming Drakulvs near Dragonspot with 2 full groups, where the only excitement was the "Dragon-break" for 2 ingame-hours?

In my case I recall levels 45-50 involved farming these damn trees on the Alb side over and over and over.  I used to stand around for hours trying to get into a tree group (Infiltrators were not loved) and it wasn't until SI came that the tree groups finally died out.

Of course, the grind moved to new places, but it was a bit easier to find groups after that.

DAoC is one of my all time favorites. I love RvR. The only problem I see with WAR is it is only 2 realms instead of 3 in DAoC. :(

Lets hope so.. and with any luck it could be much more.

I think what many people can't understand, is that this is a game like no other. The design concepts are similar to other games...but really when you think about it, if you aren't the original EVERQUEST or what ever it was before that, you are a Copy.

I think you can best descibe WAR online, as...."GAMING EVOLVED". The ideas that make WAR great could never be fully implemented until now. Until you can experience the full on game in all it's glory, you can't fully know it's true potential.

The most important thing everyone needs to understand, is that EAM is not trying to compete with Blizzard. No, EAM is attempting to find their own place in the MMORPG universe. They are doing this by bringing to market, a game that is far and away different from anything out there right now.

Will this game be for everyone???....NO! However, niether is WOW. The truth is, I hate WOW with the passion of 1000 Burning Suns, but I love almost everything about WARHAMMER ONLINE. Why???...because they are so different.

In the end you can choose to call this game whatever you want. As for me, I will call it....HOME!

definitely excitied as well- game looks great, ordrered my CE saturday..... just- cant- wait! ... as personal notes go, i didnt really care for WoW, not because i didnt like the game, but because i started a bit late- i hate doing that.  I hope to embrace this one from the start so at least Ill keep up with it.  I dont really have much time to invest in mmos anymore- I wish i did cause i love them, but whatever.  I hope this game will bring me some satisfaction.  Like the other guy said, "think positive."

Take care everyone.  Im going to bed

You sparked a fond memory for me....

Off the shores in Desolace, I was rummaging around just trying to see what sights I could discover (I'm gay like that).  I had ended up on some island...it had naga.  The location is irrelevant...what transpired was absolute comedy gold.  I was sitting around in some hip-deep water, just picking away at the naga (enjoying, on a particularly sadistic level, the gathering of their fishy oil like some kind of aquatic Buffalo Bill) when I thought I saw something flicker on the surface of the water a few meters away.

I stared out over the sea for a moment, and when I discovered nothing, I returned to my butchering of the fishy-folk.  I had barely gotten two rounds off into the skull of a nearby orange naga when, from the depths of sea, arose this massive and mighty blue giant.  At the time I thought I had, perhaps, spawned some god-avatar or revenge for the slaying of the naga...as it was pathing straight for me in a dead run.  What really happened was that multi-shot was more trouble than it was worth back in the day....regardless I was smote down by this thing and left to wonder what the hell happened.

Being the sado-masochist that I am...I had to hurt this thing for its unearthly transgression against me.  I spent hours tracking through the sea...hunting it.  I had no IDEAL how massive its patrol path was, covering basically the ENTIRE BLOODY ZONE.  I did, however, stumble upon him again.  In a particularly DEEP bend of the ocean floor, among the ruins of some "white marble" happy empire I set about my plan to slay it.

Setting myself at maximum distance, I ordered my pet to nibble at its toes (which is, literally, what it looked like) while I began to open fire.  At the appropriate time, I fired the shot to draw aggro...and from there entered into a game of pong with the beast...using it as the ball between my pet and I.  It took 4 solid tries (and a deal more in hours time), but I dropped him.  I had, probably, a sliver of my health left.  I think the killing blow ended up being a massive crit from raptor strike.  Either way, I was prepared to receive my just reward for such a feat!  I moved in, a began to search its bloated, giant, corpse.  My reward?

      Fishy oil.

      *sigh*

And THIS is why I'm going to be playing WAR.  When I kill a player...I always have the reward of a sound tea-bagging.

I think Mythic really missed an opportunity to having all the races against each other; I'm going to miss Orc against Chaos, and Dwarves against Wood Elves battles.

I am going to have to agree with you as well, I have been waiting for this game for a long time. I used to own a comic collectible shop back in the /90s and we used to have kids play Warhammer Tabletop in our store, this is where my hobby began. I never thought I would get into Tabletop games, but the kids from school got me into it.

    On another note..

I am also a Sci-Fi Junkie. With Stargate Worlds coming as well, I better make sure I work and exercise to support my addiction to these mmo's and also maintain a healthy life.. LOL

  • jerlot65jerlot65 Member UncommonPosts: 788

I played 2.5 years of DAOC. My first 1/2 year was guildless and wasn't very good at pvp.

But even way back then you really didn't need to have a awesome huge guild or be the ultimate PK'er.  If you were alone and sucked like I did at that time it was still fun.  You would catch all the talk going on about the big keep raids and follow other people. got to do some damage.

I believe WAR will even be better for the casual gamer with the PQ's, Keep looting system, and open group play.

The last 2 years of DAOc I did find a nice guild and we dominated.  If they weren't so stuck on WoW they would come over with me but alas, the few powers to be there are too much involved with raid progress.
