I would like some recommendations on some MMORPGs that I should try based the following criteria, which are roughly in order of importance (for my ideal game).
Customizable classes where you get to more or less create/design your own character. NOT picking a single class and being restricted to it. Also, the higher max level the better.
For equipment, random loot, quest gear, and crafted gear is preferred to games where everything you use is store bought and you spend all of your time earning money so that you can buy the next set of gear. Everyone ends up with the exact same gear in these games and its boring/annoying.
I prefer seamless worlds to worlds broken up into zones. And I’m REALLY not a fan of the individual dungeons.
Creative/Complex Quest and uber rewards. For example, instead of a npc requesting you go to a dungeon and kill the boss mob then giving you the uber weapon for a reward, it would be much better to find the sword on one quest, then go on another quests to make the weapon uber.
I’m also a fan of PvE over PvP focused games. Although I have nothing against a PvP server other PvP options.
I have played the following games, Asheron’s Call, Guild Wars (none of the expansions), Lineage II, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Vanguard, World of Warcraft, as well as trials for EQ2 and LoTR Online. My favorite, by far, of all these was Asheron’s Call, so if there’s some spiritual successor to that game, I’d love to know about it. Lastly, I would prefer a newer game (no more than a few years old please). Thanks for any suggestions.
