Tabula Rasa: Clan Owned Control Points

SzarkSzark News ManagerMember Posts: 4,420

NCsoft gives players a look at Tabula Rasa's Clan Owned Control Points and how they work in the most recent Feedback Friday Feature on the TR community site.

Clan Owned Control Points - What are they?

Clans will be able to compete for the opportunity to own specific Control Points. Members of a CP owning clan will earn bonuses as long as the CP remains in their possession. Currently the TR dev team is focused on direct PvP conflict to determine CP control, though alternative methods may be brought about in the future. COCPs are still intended to be a PvE feature as well, but for the time being we are focused on the PvP aspects.

Clan Owned Control Points -What progress has been made and when will we see them?

COCPs are currently being prototyped and iterated internally on a new COCP map. The entire TR development team is involved, play testing, providing feedback, and obviously gloating about their various exploits. The hours following one of these play tests usually go by very quickly as any number of discussions spark up around the team.

you know I tried TR back in Open beta and i thought it was decent.

Ive read alot of post bashing TR when it released and was worried that it would close down.

I'm glad to see TR improving after they add a few more features i may even sub to try it out.

While a MMO might not be the greatest on release after bug fixes, feature additions and balancing a game can really be good. TR is showing us this

    PLaying: EvE, Ryzom

    Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum

The only problem I see in TR is that they seem to be focusing on PvP, which doesn't really fit the lore of the game that well. Instead, they need to focus on making the PvE end game more fun, as it relates to the games story line. Right now, it just a big, broken PvP fest with an incidental story line for leveling.

Oh, you mean like what Foxman13 after you posted?

TR is anything but a big, broken PvP fest. I would guess Foxman13 wants a strictly PvE game. And so far, TR is essentially a SOLO PvE game.

Want some PvP? You have to be in a clan that declares war on another clan who accepts the challenge to engage in world PvP.

To do WoW-style battlegrounds, you have to install and log into the Public Test Server. And then there is only one map to play.

In game TR now, PvP from my perspective is non-existant.

Forgive me. Maybe I didn't express myself clearly and in the correct terms. What I meant was they are trying to make it a PvP-centric game, when they did not design the game that way from the beginning. I understand about the clan-based PvP, I played the game for 3 months. This is the part I was referring to as broken and the fact that clan PvP is the only thing to look to forward to in the end game. And then, it is not implemented correctly, so that even sucks.

By the way, make sure you are quaoting the correct poster before bashing something they said.

i was in closed beta, and i enjoyed TR until they made it harder and longer to kill mobs. I loved how the world was a constand battleground and enemys were always being dropped in by ships almost wherever you went. I think i might go buy it and see what progress the game has made.....

And, you are correct. It is simply big, and broken. It is a fun solo game throughout, with no reason to be an MMO. RG took a chapter of the SWG:NGE and ran with it hook/line/sinker but made it playable. The problem is, it is NOT playable to 50. It is barely playable for a month, and I am the idiot who didn't cancel in time (sub ends in 6 days, haven't played in 21).

I am playing mass effect now. (and) Was about time I did. It would NOT make a great mmo as is, but it reminds me of TR in so many ways, everything is straight in front of you, and the BIG BAD is not so bad, because you are "that damned good."

TR is doomed. They have 2 years worth of work to accomplish in 12 months. They exist on direct2drives based off a three day trial.

Sorry, the game doesn't suck, compared to 90% of the list, but sucking less does not make you good. & RG should volunteer to stay in orbit.
