I dont know bout you guys, but im pretty happy that Guild Wars is not going to have to pay monthly.  It seemed that most games were going to the other extreme and making prices higher and higher.  Ive heard that Matrix Online will be something like $20 a month.

really? thats outrageous. the max should be like 12 dollars. im pretty sure everyone is happy about the no monthly fee's.  its a we scratch their back they scratch ours kinda thing.. we buy their stuff and with that money they keep the servers maintained and stuff and when new chapters come out some of us will buy them some wont but still they will get money to support the game. i like that because if they slack off no one will buy their game and they wont have any money.

As said in the official Guild War's site You are paying only for the software. Using it is free.
There will be addons, that You can buy or not.

Every purchase you make in the continuation of the Guild Wars saga will be your choice. If you purchase expansion packs you will gain access to new regions of the world, new skills and abilities, new items, new professions, and much more. However, if you choose to not purchase a chapter, you will still be able to play the chapters of Guild Wars that you own, and you will have common areas in which you will be able to play with and against your friends who have purchased the other chapter(s).

yep just buy xpack or not every 6-9 months .

  • KooriKoori Member Posts: 8
Even if You'll buy expansion every 6-9 months, and it will cost 30-50$ i think its quite nice choice for people, like me, who dont have time to play few hours a day.

Paying 14$ a month if U can play only about 20 hours in month... its not for my wallet...

I agree, I think that GW will tap into an audience that has not yet been reached by the typical MMORPG. Many people do not play these games because of the subscription fees.

Its not dhat i dont want to pay the monthly fee. I just dont think that paying 15$ for several hours of playing is worth any mmorpg i've ever played.

For example. Im Star Wars great fan, but i dont think, that playing SW: Galaxies for 10-20 hours/month can be enjoyable (1$ for hour???? - no thanks...)

No subscription good. Paying expansion good. But dont you get the catch? If you do not buy the eXp you will not have access to the new items and skills and still play in the same servers. Therefore your charcter wont be strong enough to compete with the other. lol If the eXp are every 3 months. :) I think ill buy the original and the first exp but... If exp are every 3-6 months.  I agree with the E3 preview that (i do not remember his name)mmorpg.com. did on GW.

This is kinda how I see it as well. With no monthly fee that means they will be doing their best to make you buy the expansions, meaning they won't be getting lazy the way others might since they aren't getting that montly fee. I also like how the game is setup. Just play fun, none of the boring crap like in  all the other mmorpg. Been looking for this for a long time.

I thought I read somewhere that you could play in the new areas if you were invited by someone that had purchased the new places.  You could play but had to be accompanied, not alone.  When your sponsor left the new areas, so did you.  It is an interesting concept to use, allow invites to new areas and let players see what is there before putting hard earned money in the expansion.  I think that concept will encourage sales of the new areas to those that are hesitant to buy without seeing a reason.

I think they had been entertaining that idea, but ultimately decided against it.

To everything good there is always a catch =)

GW will be nearly the same as a monthly fee because of the expansion packs. However yes, you are not *forced* to buy the XP packs BUT, GW is 80% PvP game, the players with the XP packs will have access to more and better classes, skills and items than you. In the end you will probably end up buying the packs anyhow =)

Where is it  said that GW will be 80% PvP? I don't recall that anywhere. There will be PvP maps but there will also be PvE maps.  I assume they both will be getting the same attention. But no where have I seen GW advertised as mainly a PvP game or a game that will be 80% PvP.

Actually the people saying this should go check more interviews and forums. New Packs WILL bring more VARIETY but that doesnt mean BETTER. They have as a clear goal that the people that didnt buy expansion packs can play with the people that did and still remain competitive.
