Going to have to wait until the NDA is lifted to hear how the game runs for people with various system spec.
But, I have a feeling, if you're computer can play WoW with every detail cranked up to the max, Warhammer will be able to be played at least on medium details with a good framerate.
laptops are not for gaming ! for the price of a good gaming laptop you could buy a gaming desktop that would destroy any laptop + a fairly good laptop.
as for system specs ... not even the beta guys know . JMHO , even though the game can run on a lower spec system you will want the best you can afford . when you start getting 1 , 2 , 300 people fighting it out with AE spells going off non stop a lower end system will have some problems .

Maybe if "good" means the best you can get right now, then you are right. But you can get laptops for under 1000 with 2+ gig core 2 duo, 3gb-4gb ram and someting like a Geforce 8600/9500M GS. By no means awesome for games, but it would be well enough for WAR, and you're not going to find a desktop that destroys it and have money left over for a laptop that doesn't suck.
This isn't Crysis we're talking about, you wont need an uber gaming rig, and anyway MMOS are about gameplay not running everything on high.
Yes while I agree that the difference between a great gaming laptop and a great gaming desktop is the desktop costs a lot less and probably has better equipment it does not have the one thing that I want. Mobility. I live up in Oregon and the fact that most of Portland has free wi-fi means that when I go visit up there just to drink some coffee and enjoy the day up there I would love to once in a while take my laptop and even get som WAR time in. Damn I'm a geek. But hell get some sunshine in and play an online game. At least when somebody tells me to stop playing and go outside and get some sunshine I can tell them I already am.
Just like the rest of us. I'm waiting to see the recommend system specs then getting a computer alittle better that way I can play lag free (hopefully).
My PC slide showed in a 12 vs 12 fight in AOC making it more or less unplayable in PvP. I am in WAR beta and enjoying it immensely. Draw whatever conclusions you want from that, I can't say more because of the NDA.
Ditto
except for the being in beta part and not being able to say anymore because of NDA.

ya but for $1k you could build a desktop that would blow the doors off a $4K laptop .
anyway your right this isn't Crysis ... but if your computer isn't good you will lag when 300 + people face off at a keep . i wish i could post screen shots , i have an awsome one ( 3 actually 1 wouldn't fit all the people in it ) of close to 500 people waiting to siege Altdorf :P
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Meh....Mythic has always been pretty good at optimizing so that larger numbers of PC's can actually fight (granted - the 'larger' relic raids of the old days used to kill the servers - but what other games manage to be able to render 400+ people in a zone and even keep running )

Like someone said earlier, the point of a laptop is the mobility. Being able to play games during class, at coffeshops, hotels, airplane, etc. is well worth it, imo. Just reduce the settings and spell effects during massive fights, and the lag will be the same as a beastly desktop on high. Half the time spell effects just get annoying anyway. (i'm already getting annoyed by the bright wizard aoe fireball, and that's only from videos online) Of course, if you're rich, just get the best of both worlds.

The only thing they have said is if you have bought a computer in the last 2-3 years you should be able to run WAR just fine.
Yep sucks to have to wait. I would like to get a new laptop but figured I would wait until the specs come out to figure on what I want to buy.
Would a laptop bought within the last year and a half work? Nothing super crazy, but a pretty good HP.

or maybe Aoc and WoW requirements ?:P
will see when the nda will be lifting.

wish they upped the min system specs ... you will want to beat the min specs if you plan on keep sieges .
