As it has been said before the whole argument over who is male or female is moot.  Are people feeling more vulnerable with the thought of males playing female avatars?  If so you really need to get out more often.  Also, I know women play video games, is that going to change how I play?  No, it is not.  I don't feel I conduct myself inappropriately around others so it shouldn't matter.

LOl I have known many guys that had female characters, and all for many different reasons.  Though they always told me whether or not they were a guy or not if we became friends.  It is the lil boys that dress up as girls to walk around and act like scammers and  and try to con other guys that give  both  the real women, and the guys who play female avatars for other reasons  a bad rep.

Isn't that assuming that all girl gamers are cool, and none of them give female players a bad rap?

I agree with some of the other posters that don't find your gender relevant. Either you are a team player, or you get my party wiped, and if you can hold an intelligent convesation, that's a bonus. I don't care if you are a girl, a guy, or Jabba the Hut in real life.

Oh no there are bad apples in every gender.. I have had my share of phsycho girl stalkers, but the majority of women are not like that.  When it concerns who I am "hanging out with" in a game whether it be male or female I do care if they are a creep or not.  I like the idea of web cams, and headsets when considering guild applicants because it gives you a better idea of the person you are dealing with.  It helps weed out alot of the unstable players that would result in getting your group wiped as well, and makes for overall better gameplay in the group. When you have a group that plays together on and off the game you have a  better functioning group within the game.  Forced grouping does not help that, it hinders it. People should be able to find each other in games with common interests by having a variety of  options of things to do in the games not forcing them to group with people they have nothing in common with just to get anything done.

This is a lie. It's a well established fact that there are no girls on the interwebs.

Those that DO claim to be female are always lonely males practising gender-bending.

LOL! silly boy. Yes real girls do play, start using a headset and cam when you play so you can realize this. We were actually born this way and everything! our round things are higher. It is all the pixel boys in dresses giving us a bad rep.

Sorry devilicious, but in my years of online gaming, I've found it's not the 'lil boys in dresses' giving female gamers a bad rep, but rather the females who just can't resist pointing out their gender to everyone and their brother.  In general, and of course there are exceptions, any female gamer who has to make it so widely known that she is a 'real girl' is trying entirely too hard to get herself some attention.  THAT is what gives girl gamers a bad rep.

You may like using headsets and web cams for whatever reason, but you'll never convince me they're used for the purpose of finding out someone's personality.  Headsets, fine...web cams?  ROFL...gimme a break...

why does it bother you if a girl tells people she is a girl? That is offensive to you? Where I live guys open doors for us,  buy us flowers and I have never paid a cover charge in my life. Yes I get special treatment for being a girl and that is because we are physically, and psycholigically different than males.  It bothers you if guys speak differntly to females than they do to males? if women treat women differently? I talk to girls about things I would never discuss with men, and I discuss things with men I would not normally discuss with a woman. This is just the facts of our species. we do not live in a UNi sex world,  and we should not try to treat games as if it is one.

yes web cams are used. You can very well tell if you are talking to a person who has not bathed in days, or if you are talkign to someone who is put together. Which I do think that proper hygiene does tell alot about a persons personality.  So you think that a 350lb person who has not left their home in 5 years would have the same personality as a person who works everyday, excercises and goes clubbing on the weekneds? I think not.

I play female characters for one and one reason only. I'd rather look at a female toon for 50+levels then a damn dude toon for 50+ levels. I dont put my self into the game where i actually think im in the game doing these thing so i have no need to be a guy toon.

I only did that in City of Heroes. Just couldn't resist, the character creation is just to good.

I am a real girl. I play online games with real friends. It is a shame that you have been playing with little boys so long that you wouldn't know a real girl when you see one.

Oh yeah? Tits or gtfo.  Otherwise, you can quit with the charade.  I find it mildly disturbing that you would keep up with it for so long.

That's to much information for me. I don't want to know. Just be polite while you're playing the game, and that's good enough as far as I'm concerned.

That is a pretty lame attempt at getting to see some girly parts.  I hope you enjoy the time you spend with your hand, because I do not know of any girl stupid enough to show you anything with an attitude like that.

LOL! Yea I should probably be blind from all that I have seen on cams LOLOL.  I do want to know who I am talking to online, I would never trust anyone in a group that i didn't know better though.  If they cannot meet in person or on cam .. they usually get dumped from the list after a while.  But hey if you don't mind hanging out with those people go right ahead. to each his own. lol

I made a guy character for the first time with AOC...and having to really work at not acting creepy to ppl lol. I am so use to calling ppl hun in games (I live in the south) but as a male char..that would be just kind of creepy. I mostly stay very very quiet but for the first time in my gaming history..was told to stfu while on him rofl. Its nice being treated equal tbh. And as far as items ingame..I have always refused gifts because of the rep girl gamers have been given. I didn't want to feel obligated to anyone either though. I wanted to earn everything I got. So when ppl came to see my bunker in swg..I could honestly feel great pride in all the items I had earned in all those years of playing.

I also found as a female player though..that there are guys that sweet talk girls up to get free stuff. Took me a bit to catch on to that lol but as a crafter, rarely minded helping ppl out. But there were guys that took advantage of that softer side also..so it goes both ways really.

A little rude don't you think, I mean come on tits?  How old are you twelve?  If you really want to see a set of breasts your in the wrong place, perhaps try spying on your sister or mother.

I love playing games with girls.  Makes the experience different.  I treat them no differently than my male friends on games, and there is no reason I should.   I joke around with them, haave serious discussions, everything I would do with my male friends.  But sooner or later, this ends, once they are shocked by my interwebs sexiness and start to hit on me. (joke)

Seriously though, I wish there were more.  I know there are some, but they make the experience better and they pwn more at pking.

i think that is is really messed up how people think that girls don't play MMO's lol, ive talken to many women on vent, there are many women in my guild atm. and it's sad, that when most people figure out that a girl is playing, they start either acting sexually rude, or insult them, saying that they are probally fat and don't have a job. stereotypes are the main cause of this stuff i guess.
