The Chronicles of Spellborn love

Chronicle of Spellborn fans and readers alike.  This title has it all! Make no mistake this is a must have for any mmorpg enthusiast!

Iv been through more content with this mmorpg then most of the others.  The main web site for "The Chronicles of Spellborn" is over at http://www.thechroniclesofspellborn.com.   This is one heck of a site.  Its got a forum thats goin blow your socks off your feet.   The info thats been released so far is pretty standard for mmorpgs.

I came across a preview thats a must see for any TCoS fan which translated into The Chronicles of Spellborn for those that didnt care enough to know.  Its over at http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/9778/The+Chronicles+of+Spellborn+Trailer+.  Onto the poll!

How about beta with this title. Iv seen so many advertisments for beta with this title that I had to go ahead and tryout for one myself.  Any one make it into beta? Tell us all about it if any one here has!

Due to the delays TCoS is coming out together with other big releases. This will definately minimize its chance of becoming a hit at release. However, when the game delivers what it promises it will attract a crowd within a few months. That is almost certain.

very dangerous to predict what game will be released when why etc. im remaining undecided. the game looks great, the trailer is ok to average, the forum is good but not the best imo(deteriorated due to excessive ignorance with many posts from anyone).

wtih that unreal engine, what do you think?. of course i cant say anymore due to NDA legal stuff. lets see how this will pan out as a game.

Well been following it for a while myself and it is looking great so far and the ideas they have are looking new and refreshing from the old elfs n orcs stuff we get tossed at us every day of the week,

But like the two above me im a regular posted on the tcos forums i reconise someone's avatar (O_O)

but yea i agree witht he OP there is a hand full of people on the Tcos forums who are very rude and argumentative which to be honest is putting me off taking part in the forums anymore(im probaly not the only one) i cant be bothered i dont logg in there to have my replys disected and be talked down to. image

But the devs and mods are pritty friendly and give some little new bits of info out in posts now and then other than the hand full of anoying people on the forums the community is top notch in my opinion.

What realy impressed me with this title was that preview I posted above there.  I found a few more previews that arnt quite as spectacular.  There over at http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=14609&type=mov&pl=game.  The more I find information on this title the more it looks interesting.

Close to 75% of the voters voted that The Chronicles of Spellborn will be a contendor with all the other titles upon release.  I voted yes too, because this title seems to bring a type of simplicity that only will generate a thriling experience.

Lets see some more previews Spellborn international!

From the previews Iv seen so far and the web site Im a bit suprized by the 72.2%. I bet this will go up as we come closer to the release.

    Community Q&A

About statues, what if a group of 8 players manages to down one unique boss. Who will earn the statue? The party leader? The one who dealt the killing blow? All the party members?

Statues are the representation of high achievements performed in-game and can be earned as individual or guild efforts. These efforts can be of both PvE and PvP (tournaments) nature, giving the ability to be rewarded with a permanent or time limited statue. Guilds are more like a single ‘longer lasting’ entity which we can much more easily give a reward to then an ephemeral entity like a group.

Will TCoS feature a menu, option, tool, giving the possibility to quickly switch to one predefined set of equipment? Like a set for “indoor” and a set for “outdoor”?

A “Wardrobe” feature is an element we would like to implement in the game. This would give you the ability to switch easily and rapidly to one of several equipments sets you would have set beforehand. Yet, we cannot assure you whether this feature will be implemented for release for now, as we would want it to be fully integrated and functional.

Are there specific destinations other than Shardrealms within the Deadspell Storm, such as Raft Yards?

The Deadspell Storm is a part of the Spellborn world by itself. You’ll be able to travel to different Raft Yards -ranging from small to very large scale- as some quests chains will take you there, and also as certain “dungeons” are located on Raft Yards. Of course Shardrealms are also a destination, but there are also very special places and locations in the immense Deadspell Storm that are neither Shards nor Raft Yards.

Will there be puzzles to solve in the TCoS’ universe, puzzles that are interactive with the world (moving objects, switches etc.) or will we still see more of the static kind of quests in todays mmo's

We are working on something containing puzzle elements which will find its way after release. The issue with puzzles is balancing. It mustn’t be too easy –what’s the challenge, and it mustn’t be too hard to solve –otherwise you end up being blocked in your progression. Certain encounters or zones will have “puzzle” gameplay elements, in a way where you actually need to trigger some specific things before unlocking the big challenge. Regarding interactivity, Spellborn features many items players can interact with. For example you’ll see doors opening before you, you can climb ladders, and resource nodes are interactive as well.

What will be the "high end content" (the content for people of the maximum level), considering items are mainly cosmetic? In another MMO I've played, high end content was mainly item farming and PvPing, will that be any different in Spellborn?

We have many plans for “high end” content, but in a general way, once you reach the level cap in The Chronicles of Spellborn content will revolve around a balance of PvE and PvP. This is done in a way in which gameplay is not restricted to only one of these two. PvP and PvE are in fact linked in a real symbiotic way. We have designed these gameplay elements having in mind that PvP or PvE shouldn’t be something implemented to simply please one specific kind of players. Of course you will still be able to venture all over the world to gather crafting resources, or to hunt for the one sigil that would be the perfect addition to one of your skills or weapons ."

I wonder what's up with the snow. If seasons are implemented or if this is just for Christmas. Anyway, it's really cool to see the effect of snow on Quarterstone, the snow on the ground looks great.

Edit: For reference, this is a picture from Quarterstone when it is not snowing:

The pictures look good.  I hope they weren't "doctored" for the purpose of presentation though...

This game is still high on my radar for next year.

    Merry Christmas ALL

For me, this will be most likely my next MMO. I don't know why, but it has something to it. And it looks great. And especially, it sounds even more great. Just listen (and look) to "The Howling" trailer video.

Im happy the game is going the other way and think if it is released in a good state it will have a great future.

yes there are other upcoming mmo's who have also a great potential in becoming great games, but not one of them have the battlesystem and veriaty tcos has. ;)

so work hard guys , i want that box in my hands

I think TCoS will be huge. It has so many good innovations like the combat sysytem and the use of armor and weapons for looks only (upgrades to each item through sigils and stones). They haven't had large marketing funds but once the game launches and people see just how good it is, I'm sure it will attract ALOT of people. Vote for definate yes!

Wow, this is an old thread.

Anyway, about release. Frogster says this year but leaves room for further delay. My guess is that the game will be released Q1 2009.

Further delay? They said the game is ready and the only delay comes from the publisher. They also said they'd use the extra time for polishing the game. Now, if this september the game is polished and the publisher is there, why would they want to delay it more?

They never said that the game is ready. Nor did they really say that the last delay came from the publishers. Also, in the past they did call rewriting the network code, needing lots of reprogramming of the core coding of the program, polishing too.

Of course, they do not want to delay, but they may have to. No release date has been given yet, and they are not making any promises.

well in all fairness they did say at the start of the year it was finished except for polishing, then at the end of q1 they said they were delaying it till q2 just to finish polishing it,when q2 came to an end they then said they had a US publisher and would be delaying the game till the fall to set up the final details and they would use the extra time to...yep you guessed it polish it.

Lets hope after the games convention we will get more solid information.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

I would say simply judging by the fact that you HAVEN'T heard a release date yet, I don't see it coming out this year. Personally I would guess early 09.
