Here's your chance to get the answers to some of those questions you've had about the game!

I'll be conducting an interview with the Devs and figured I'd give some of you the chance to get a couple of questions into the list. Post your suggestions here, and as usual, no guarantee that any questions you post will be used, or if they are used that they'll be answered.

    Nice one Kunou! image

I just have one area of concern so I will ask a few questions related to that particular interest...

    1. As an explorer in DnL you can make maps, allowing you to sell them or give them to others. I want to know what systems are in place if any to prevent someone putting up the whole map of Ganareth on a web page, potentialy spoiling the work (fun) of making maps for other people, and for one-self?

    2. Will the terrain and resources change so much that older maps will be out-dated over time?

    3. Last one... Can people alter their own maps to give missleading information?

People have stated that they want to play the game for the exploration, so any information on its viability in the long run will be of great interest to many.

    Cheers! image

These 2 questions are close to my heart and were brought up on the community forums.

    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

    1. Will there be a Thieves’ guild in the major towns, and will it be possible for one to live out his/her career in that town and become rich by working for the guild?
    2. Will you be implementing player run boats, possibly allowing for sea battles, and if yes will you add a Pirate class?

    I have 2 questions.

    1-Open beta, when start?

2-Why Devs give us, future players, insufficient informations? We want more informations, in particular about races, classes and the skill tree. Maybe a section on the official site can be a good idea, with enough informations... so we can think how to create our characters.

    Thx.

    Let´s go

1- You said that if there was enough people interested in having horses in the game, the dev team would add it. Are you working on it?

2- There will be sharks and wales? (Interview Vicent Pelisso)
    Any option of having llamas?

3- Are you thinking in adding a floating city?

4- Will be any kind of rideable underwater mounts? (Dolphins, giant turtles...) Maybe in a expansion?

5-You said that you can shot arrws or cast spells in a flying mount. What will you do to prevent griefing with that? A warrior won´t be able to fight versus a flying dragon.

    My questions;

    1. Will one be able to own a boat?

    2. If so, are there different types of boats?

    3. Will one be able to build player houses anywhere or are player housing restricted to predefined areas (ghettos).

    4. Owning NPC players is a nice feature (guards, merchants etc), but for casual gamers it is problemtic to pay a typica maintenance fee (as some games have). Will it be possible to buy the NPC characters for a fixed amount (I recon they can get killed while one is logged off).

    5. Will there be a journal of what happened while one was logged off (e.g ones castle has been attacked etc)?

  • psyichicpsyichic Member Posts: 18

    Here are my questions

    1. Will classes other then the melee have a choice of snow sheilding? If so how will you balance this with a fairy. WIll fairies have options that are fun as well?

2.When you want to create a house will you have to be extremely high level? Or can medium to medium low also build houses? (not refering to the house you start with)

3.Will there be any way to challenge a clan of your own alignment for their castel? Some way to take the castel from your own alignment either diplomatically or forcefully? Without the need of having an oppositly aligned clan attack them.

4.Possible expansion. Many people have shown a real intrest in water but also in the idea of a more arricultural life. People have shown intrest in being able to have their own crops fish cook and so forth. People also voted in a poll for non-graphical breeding skills. Non grpahical meaning everything is just done by a toolbar system or pop-up windows and then percentages take over from there. Any chance there will be an axpansion for this? Also will it be packaged with a water expansion? Or mabey seperate? any thoughts from youi guys?

Keldar heres my opinion on question 5. I dont think that its unfair that mages/arhcers can attack from mounts and melee cannot. Its just something they have to get used to that they will have to rely upon friends. Sorry but i dont think the devs are gonna take away the ability from archers and mages and i dont think they will give the melee a sheild boomarang. I understand your point but i mean thats a down side to a melee only class

MOST IMPORTANT IN TERMS OF GAMEPLAY

    1. Will player owned fortresses have any way of being transfered without being conquered by the opposite alignment such as by selling or being condemned by the high level noble ruling the territory?

1b. If condemned could there be a formal fighting contest between interested clans to determine ownership?

    1) What movement control for your avatar will be implemented?

Click on the ground and your avatar runs to it, like in Lineage 2

or use the keyboard and mouse FPS style?

    2) How will skills and levels work, do you learn more skills the higher level you are?

    3) Will the level treadmill take months to get a high level character?

    Thanks

    just one question:

Is it possible to have a feature/option for generals in battle field to evaluate soldier's individual/group performance (how many enemy players were killed by a soldier/group of your army) to create a reward system that promote soldiers on battle field based on skills ?

Will the tenth realm (realm of the Gods) actually be in the game, and if it is, will it be a part of the world (Garnareth), or will it be located in another dimension that can only be reached by other means (teleportation)?

Asked on behalf of Alpha_and_Omega because he couldnt log onto this forum...

"Will being an explorer take away potention skill points that could have been used in other classes, or will it be just like a crafter, not effecting the FXP of you character?... ( will a fighter have more skillpoints and be a better fighter then a fighter/explorer?)"

There will be WASD and mouse move. The WASD can be configurated to move with the direction arrows, to make easier to type while moving.

Also, to your third question, there will be very easy to get lvl 50 and a little more hard to get lvl 100. It will take most time to reach lvl 100 in the social way of progression, but the real game starts when you have a finished character to fight in PvP, enjoy events and all the things you can do in DnL.

    Two easy questions ;)

    1. What with XML scripting - what action will we be able to make - will be there posibility to write "global" scripts for guild fore example.

    2. What about guild tools - will allied guilds have special tool for trading? If yes how it will work. If no will be able to write script in XML (for example something like market only for allied guilds)?

    1.  Movement is either by WASD or arrow keys if you want the keyboard free for chat. The player can toggle between these options. Mouse can also turn the character. Point and click will also be in for certain situations.

    2. Skills are mostly "purchased"  with experience points you get for social and fighting activities including PvP.

    3. With 10 realms (kingdoms) seperated by level ranges your character can immediately participate in the game no matter what level he or she is at.

  • psyichicpsyichic Member Posts: 18

The tenth kingdom of the gods will be available. But it wont be a seperate dimension. DnL does not support areas in that sense. The world is entirely consistent. every point can be walked to if it can be teleported to. The tenth level restrictions will just make it hard for low elvels to get there. Plus a low level cannot arrange a meeting with the god. PLus the god can intervene with them coming into the tenth kingdom if they arent worthy (lighting strikes waringing monsters) But a determined person or a REALLY faithful person will be able to enter at low levels.

    1. Will melee combat be about strategy- special moves, possible fighting stances/styles, and different techniques, or will it just be hack and slash and whoever has better equipment wins?

    2. Will you be able to fight on a single person mount. (A horse for example)

    3. What army management tools will there be?

  • psyichicpsyichic Member Posts: 18
There will be special moves and other abilities that fighters use. Im not sure about stances we havent heard to much. But also we know that DnL has created a new battle system but we dont know anything more then its never been used before since the team created it itself. You cannot use your asttack if you are driving a mount. But you can direct the attacks of the mount if the mount has teh ability to attack. Oh we do know that there are army management tools but we dont know what they are.

Actually, the presence of skills doesn't make combat based on special moves/skills. EQ meleec ombat has some special skills (bash, kick) but they definitely weren't that important, and did very little. Combat was about 90% automatic- press auto attack, go eat lunch, and come back.

All we really know is the driver of a dodo or dragon can't attack, we know nothing of other mounts, only what little we've heard.

As far as army management, we know there will be real time maps (which is really cool) and formation management (which should be very, very interesting), but that's all.

Will we be able to bury things, like corpses, chests or objects?  Can we mark out the spot that they are buried in on a map?

Will it be possible to drop from a hangglider while standing on your shield, in order to go straight from flying to snow-shielding?

Will Lords be able to make a town/city/village/kingdom a Full PvP area?

1/ What is Alchemic Dreams' policy on buffs and bots?
2/ Will stealth be overpowering total invisibility, like it is in DAoC?3/ Will there be game-ruining AoE crowd control like in DAoC?

Some questions done in the DnL forum.

    1) Will Fairies be able to fly high enough to make it impossible to hit them with melee weapons, and if so what is the current planned maximum height that they will be able to fly?

    2) Will Fairies remain flying when they casts spell while in the air?

    3) Will fortresses be able to have Arrow-slits?

    4) What are the specifications of the computers used to take the current screenshots?

  • OrccOrcc Member Posts: 3,043

    1) Ive heard the combat will be strategic and real-time, so when you click the mouse in combat you will make a melee attack. Can you give us a detailed example of how combat works for all the classes.

    2) any more graphics engine updates?

    1) What is the point of dividing clan intentions by "fighter", "explorer", and "crafter"? I understand each type gets special tools relating to their field of expertise, but doesn't this limit clans who wish to to include and work in all 3 types?

    2) What would be the purpose of creating an Explorer clan?

    3) One issue in PvP games is "level of detail". In example, if you allow grass textures or detail to be lowered for older machines, it causes an tactical imbalance between people who have them off (and therefore more is visible) and those who have them on. This in affect encourages everyone to turn them off, which basically makes putting them in the game in the first place, pointless. Will level of detail affect PvP in Dark and Light and will the case I described above be an issue for it?

    2) One of the concerns I've heard alot on MMORPGs is how much of a "timesink" they are. What efforts are being made to appeal DnL to the casual gamer? Will someone be able to log on for just a few hours and find a group, go hunt? Will it take forever to find a crafter to make an item, or complete a quest?

    3) Will there be swimming? I see some lovely beaches in the screenshots, I hope we can swim in those beautiful blue bodies of water.

    4) Are there plans to add fishing? I know this may seem silly but I have several friends who very much enjoy fishing in MMORPGs.

    5) How easy is it to travel (teleport) by mana towers? Will anyone be able to do it? I have read conflicting responses on this question. Ganareth is a huge world and I've received alot of concerns on being able to travel.

    6) Fairies are a wonderful addition to playable characters at long last. However, it does seem like they are more limited than other characters. They have fewer classes to choose from and cannot use the mounts we've seen thus far. Will you have interesting options to give this race a little better playability? One suggestion I've heard is to allow them to ride on large races' shoulders or give them eagles or wolves to ride.

    7) Are there any intentions to release more game information to the public on basic things like stats, skills, and abilities? We all debate the extremes of information release, but no one can argue that NPCube & Alchemic Dream have been anything other than conservative with release of game information.

    Thanks. ^_^
