Origins Crossrealming

Cross realming is the thing that ruined the whole "realm pride" thing ect, which was mainly introduced with clustering, yes it existed before but to a much lesser degree. Will the same thing happen on origins that happened on the classic servers? They Release 2, due to overpopulations they release another one then later on they cluster them all resulting in everyone having characters on all 3 realms/extreme cross realming.

If the origins server becomes "full" with the whole "try again in a few minutes" thing, they might want to release another origins server, I think this would be a terrible idea :P What do you guys think will happen? 1 server. 2, clustering later on ect.

Or are you guys OK with crossrealming?

I hate it personally hehe. The reason being, Keep takes/relic raids dont mean as much to win or lose them because you will have a character SOMEWHERE that will benifet from it, it just takes something away IMHO.

I am all for the Origins server, hopefully the server will hold everyone.  Guess we'll find out after launch. Hard to say how many actually will return, on top of those who plan to play there and start over.

If cross realming is to happen on Origins, i will personally throw in the towel with Dark Age. It is one realm or nothing, for myself.

I completely agree with you that cross-realming ruins a lot of the "realm pride" (as you mentioned).  But honestly, if the servers get to a point where you can't find anyone at all in the PvP areas, then I'm all for cross-realming.  I would rather there be more people to fight and kill with a little less realm pride.

I hope it is like the old days 1 realm u get to play if u dont want to play it any more u have to DELETE  all your toons on that realm and make new ones on the new realm you choose to play.

I just hope there smart about it and not have all the rare drop crap like thay have now or quest you can only do for a few weeks for a peice of gear then its gone.

lets get back to old school Camelot. Epic Armor random drop weapon like the old days get to 50 and go out and fight for your realm.

Being a casual player of the game still after 6 years i just dont find 50 PVP fun at all.

Players with super temped gear and all the rare items that 3 hit you for 2600 dmg and your hitting for nothing beacuse there rr 10 and block or parry everything you do.

These things didnt happen when the game first came out if u hit another player for 250 dmg u did alot of damage. Now you snezze at a player and there 1/2 dead if there not temped.

Today it all about the RPS.

I remember where there wasnt any RA's. Most fights came down to who got the last hit in decided who won the battle.  There wasnt any DI Pool so u whack and toon for 2000 dmg then they turn roll u to the ground and spam /rofl till you release.

remove the RA's so relics mean something again. People would gather by the 100's to try and take another realms relic because it meant something to your realm. Now adays it doest matter im temped with MOP5 BOB 3 IP3 Purge 3 max capps and resist your 20% melle bonus doesnt mean shit, lolololololololololololol Thanks for donating your RP's and come again for another ass whopping.

In the old days there wasnt people with every + 75 to stats or capped resist to the max. Wore your epic armor for most part and found a decent drop weapon grabbed a cleric and some peeps and went out exploring for other players to battle with.

Remove what ever BUFFING system your coming up with your only gonna shun the cleric class if everyone can just BUY buffs from an npc. NO pots either u want buffs then u NEED a cleric like the old days.

Removing RAs is not a good idea. You need some personal motivation to PvP as well.

But I do think they could be toned down a bit. Some of the new frontier RAs are way too flashy and powerful, and last too long.  I liked OF where most RAs were much more subtle, often people would only have purge and maybe MCL.

We pvp'd just fine without RAs before.  I personally would like to see alchemy and spellcrafting go away.  No more min / maxxing.  Just do the best you can with what is in the game.  Get rid of the toa and catacombs bonuses.  Now, as far as RA's, I agree that some should exist, but they need to be completely revamped.

And the reason people only had purge and MCL was because rps didn't come in droves like they do now.  In one night running in a good 8 man you can be RR3L0.  It's completely insane.  Even if you run with the zerg or camp bridges, you can hit RR4 in a matter of days, not weeks or months like it used to be.  The reality is that the game is on ez mode now from level 1 through 50 and RR5L0, ML10, CL10.

Lastly, before you guys get all upset, I still play too.  I like the game, and I like ez mode, because I have done hard mode and wouldn't still be playing if every one of my 50's had been made on hard mode.  Anyhow, my point is that Origins had better find just the right balance between the old, 14 days played to get to 50, and the current 14 hours played to get to 50.  Mythic also better find a way to incorporate RAs that are meaningful but not anything close to what exists now.

Cross-realming is a HUGE knock on DAoC and I really hope they either only have one server or implement the L O N G relog timer for changing realms if there is clustering in the future.  Granted that will do little to fix the issue, but it will at least stop or slow people from starting in a new realm on the cluster.  I do have to say that if I for one will be excited for the state of the game if they do need to start a second Origins server.

As far as RAs go, it looks like they have addressed this situation already.  I think they got "super-powered" to keep up with the gear (including SC and Alc).  I really hope whatever changes they make to the RA system will aid PvE as well.  I know this server is really just a "RvR" server with all the focus on getting the old RvR feel back, but I for one miss the old social feel as well.  Any oldtime Albs remember going to the Pryd Bridge and finding groups?  I guess I just hope they don't throw the game away when trying to "fix" the RvR.

Yeah I remember going to Pryd Bridge finding a group, and the Wizards standing near the bind stone passing out buffs to lowbies :), and the friars which went from dungeon to dungeon helping other players, Everyone is so selfish now lol. Seems to be more focused on personal gain.
