Ive now read a couple of the new MMORPG Game Correspondents reviews and it looks like to me they are spin doctors for the games there reporting on. It makes sense that this is happening because of the preformance of AOC and it looks like Warhammer may be heading in same direction time will tell. If my opion holds these guys will not last long because most folks are tired of the hype and unfinished games being released.
Comments
Actually, most of us are tired of folks that cannot spell.
Actually, their jobs are to be active players in the games that they write about. Generally speaking, that means they like the games they're playing. That doesn't mean that these articles won't come with some criticism.
Just because our Age of Conan correspondent''s first article wasn't a rampaging tirade against the game doesn't mean that the writer is a "spin doctor". I'm unsure of how liking a game is "spinning".
Was there a point to this thread other than to troll?
I should also point out some factual and other errors in your post:
- First, no correspondent has written a "review". A review is a judgement of a game as a whole, they generally come with an opinion about the game as a whole and usually a score. They are also labelled as " reviews".
- You didn't like Age of Conan and / or how they launched, etc. That's cool, it's a valid opinion and one that is held by many readers here, but you've gone ahead and lumped Warhammer into that category before you've even tried it. Just saying.
- You used the wrong "there". There referrs to a place (look, he's over there) their means belonging to them.
- What do our correspondents have to do with developers making unfinished games?
Look, every single article here isn't going to be all about bashing games, even games you don't like. The fact is that there are people who are playing Age of Conan and enjoying it, just as there are people who hated it and are angry. Just because someone doesn't share your personal opinion (or even one you feel is in the majority), doesn't give you the right to question their jobs.

From day one this game has shown an extreme amount of promise, we can only hope that the developers will continue to push out patches every week that will help us achieve a great game. This was at the end of your Correspondents post. Sure does look like a review to me and his opion is fine but lets call it for what it is. He is trying to post a positive image of AOC the same for Warhammer. What needs to be address is what alot of us here have been posting these companys are hypeing and not delivering what they promise for the longest of time.
MAGA
Yeah... If anything what he says agrees with your point. He feels that the game needs work before it is to be great. and yes, the game had promise. If the game hadn't had promise, it wouldn't have had this many people excited about it. That sentence you quoted says to me that the author feels that the game still needs work. Just because it wasn't in ranting and raving language doesn't mean that it shouldn't be taken as criticism.
I think the problem here is that you're confusing a neutral to negative comment with a positive comment...

Is there a position for a Community Detractor? I'm fine with them being here, I just wish I could have a filter to filter out their threads.
Hey Jon,
Not trying to derail you or anything, but the Age of Conan forums on this site have half of the page as sticky threads, many of which are old information. Any chance on getting a mod over there to remove a few of them so we can see more real threads without having to go digging back into pages?
Thanks.

It really does make a difference. Plus, it's fun to see people going "Wow, a 10 page thead!" and it's only on page 2 for me.
And Jon, well said. But try to refrain from using logic and reason so much, it detracts from the general atmosphere in this place.
I never bother with them because they wont allow them to say too much bad about the game and everything they do say bad it's always followed by "going to be fixed" because why dehype people about your game? They're also very bias and enjoy the game they're playign because of the job they got.
I just listen to what my friends say who're in beta or from first hand experience.

Talking about SWG much?
probably a marketing scheme of an online game or something..
