Meh, it's been in production for at least 3 years, without a screenshot to show for itself.
Oh...that
Anyway, keep an eye on Left4Dead, its not an MMO but it is actually releasing soon and looks like a lot of fun.

The game was announced in 2006 and up until this time last year they were in pre-production. Charles Terry has been forward that they'll show off the game when it's ready. At least they're not attempting to fool anyone with promises of beta right around the corner and/or swindle people into buying pre-orders for a game that's in the midst of development.
With that said, while the concept is pretty freaking sweet and I'm personally pumped to check it out if it ever sees the light of day, we just don't know if it ever will see the light of day, or at least not yet. Being hopeful is nice but the rose-colored glasses have gone of style for me over the last few years. So until beta hits and there's a button for me to click that says "Download" it's all wait and see, wait and see, and wait and see.
In other news, zombies still kick ass.
I'd definitely play something like this, I just wonder what the limit on Ash1-1,000,000,000 would be .

Could have sworn that previously the site just had an image on a white page since the dawn of the internet.
If this game turns out to have some FPS in it, it may well be the only game I ever play ever. Looks like exactly what I've been searching for.
I'm just feeling even more skeptical every day since they don't seem to be getting anywhere with it. There's all this talk of play tsting, level creation, zombies, and playable code.
While many people are calling them vapourware, a scam, or other unpleasant titles that equate to the game never seeing the light of day - yet they don't show us any ingame graphics at all of this game that's allegedly playable. No models, no screenshots, no guns. Nothing.
It just seems so unusual that they completely ignore so many people all at once calling them a fake game.
I know about Left 4 Dead I got Exanimus from ther guys at L4D who were talking about it. L4D will be a good FPS though fun too.

may I recommend you watch the remake of Dawn of the Dead
Don't think i could get into it. The RP "All flesh must be eaten" reduces the craving for zombie madness.
And i don't like the idea turned into an mmo. Part of the fun is that the heroes die.
may I recommend you watch the remake of Dawn of the Dead
Speed isn't going to matter too much when you're looking at the same zombie models for 100 levels.
its a vaporware, artwork doesnt even look profesionnal and the developer say ''suck'' at least 5 time in his new.
Move along. Theses kind of people need to be avoided at all cost. They suck your hope until dry.

best zombie MMO ever? all the players are zombies, and the mobs are humans. I'd so pay to go around eating brains and such.
rez your allies by.. picking up their body parts and just putting them back together!
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
Vaporware- a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar software/hardware product.
They've been in production for a year and nowhere have they claimed or promised a beta date or release date, which leaves your attempt at calling vaporware a misguided one.
It's concept art. Just because you dislike the artist's style doesn't make it unprofessional. If it were stick figures and MS Paint then I'd be obliged to agree.
He says sucks three times in the most recent dev log. And I don't see the issue with that but a-ok.
Yeah right, thanks for analising my 2 sentences and argumenting on every single words I said. I mean cmon, You know what I mean. Its obvious this game is made by idealist and inexperienced developers. Did you read their FAQ? Because I did, and its ridiculus. THEY DONT EVEN HAVE A CLEAR IDEA OF WHAT THEY WILL DO! They dont even know if its going to be a FPS or a .... RPG. I mean, they made the starting area >>> 3 TIMES <<<. We havent seen ANY single screen shot or models. Not even a decent artwork. Man, I draw better than them. Their proportion are not even right and they overdone the vehicles. ( theres so much plate on that truck it wouldnt even move ) They even named their developement team after the game they are creating; Rotten corpse. Pathetic. Do you know what it take to make a MMO. Especialy a 3D MMO? Tons of people, tons of cash, tons of experience. We are not anymore in the ERA of the guy in is basement making a wonderful game alone. We are in a new age.. people ask for great graphic, people ask for bug less games.
I have followed waaaaaaaay too many mods and video games in my life to SPOT the games and mods that are bound to fail. Its OBVIOUS they are amateurs. But waste your time and hope if you wish. Have fun.
PS: Never heard of that game before you linked it. Read through most of the stuff.... visited the forum. Even their fan dont believe in them.
PPS: Im a french canadian, sorry for the spelling and bad sentences. But its late and I wont read what I wrote before posting it... hehe.

it never ceases to amaze me that in such a market saturated with clone games that people use the term
"vaporware" for any project that isn't backed by a major development house. do you want another wow clone?
will the game make it to live? maybe..... maybe not. but at least they are trying something new. and just because they dont have millions in their pockets doesn't mean they are out to rip you off. look at recent doings by some big companies cough cough soe funcom cough
Man, I whish big compagnie full of competent people tried to do new stuff. But they dont. And dont get me wrong. Im a HUUUUUUGE fan of zombie, I own every zombie movie ever created even the really bad and/or old one.
I just hate retard that try to make us believe they will make a good game and they obviously have no idea how to do. Anyway read my post above. Alright? kthxbye.

My first post clearly states my stance on the game so I'm not wasting my time, thanks.
You can look down at Exanimus, Thinking Man Studios, and independent developers in general if you want, and you can passionately believe that it will fail miserably, but to call it vaporware today or tomorrow is a watered-down use of the term that gets thrown around way too much. There's merit to use it for a title like Darkfall that has gone way beyond a typical development cycle and has made/broken dates they've announced. At this point in time there's no merit to use it to describe Exanimus, which has a number of years before it extends past a typical development cycle and has made no promises as of yet regarding either beta or release.
It's been posted here before but check out this game - it's in Beta and if you follow that link you can play 3 web browser games which are pretty fun.

"The liberties and resulting economic prosperity that YOU take for granted were granted by those "dead guys"
There is one jackass on this and I don't know his name...........Exanimus has been in Pre-Production, Gameplay has been talked about and is still undecided when it is ready to begin production it will have a firm idea. The developers for this game aren't "New" they have worked on several other MMO games. If you read their posts they tell you what they have done previously. As for the concept Art it is once again pre production. You sir must be one of those "After 2 years WoW is so polished" kind of guys who didn't play WoW at launch and knew how much of a Clusterf*ck that was. Exanimus is Pre-Production and seems very very fun. As for the PvP aspect there will be servers (Said by developers) that will have a Hardcore Diablo II style as in if you play as a human and are killed by a zombie player you turn slowly but surely into one of them.
Well whatever, but someone needs to make a zombie apocalypse survivalist sandbox MMOG... like, right now.

This game would NEVER work in an MMO, only a single person RPG.
If you want to play a 'zombie' MMO, just play any MMO RPG out with orcs and dorks. Find the obligatory undead area, never leave. WIN!
A zombie mmo could work, but I would only be interested if it was in the George A. Romero style.
The game would be about scavenging for limited supplies with the other human players, looters, criminals, and what is the left of the establishment, being as much a threat as the zombies.
You could choose to play various archetypes; escaped convict, police officer, truck driver etc.
A great crafting system as you have make good out of disposable objects.
A LOT - and I mean a LOT - of soloability with the emphasis on pvp rather than pve. You could form small alliances/guilds with other players - a biker gang, a religious community etc. Fighting other players over bottles of water or ammo lol. Would be ace.
You might have some cities or trade-posts like in Land of Dead, but these should be a rare exception the game. My personla feeling is that small pockets of survivors is required to keep the sense post-apocalyptic isolation and remain true to the spirit of the other 4 Romero zombie films.
Would love to play this game one day, but would hate it if they lost Romero's vision and thematic focus.

Melmoth
QFT. Also the NPC "Bad Guys" mobs don't need to be just various zombies either. You could have everything from crooked cops to biker gangs to crazy mutant hill people. It could work, and work quite well if you just use your imagination. Anyways, getting OT...

For anyone that wants to actually play a zombie “MMO” that’s in development then try this one.
http://www.deadfrontier.com/
Also the post apocalyptic MMO Fallen Earth that recently entered public alpha/beta has zombies in it, and one of the convention video’s previously released shows some zombie themed game play from the games starting area I believe.
