im pretty pissed off that there are no more skill points. the fact that i have to find a trainer makes me angry because gear and such cost enuff as it iss but to have to buy your skills now? thats bull crap. anyone else hate this idea?
Well i'm not affected by this change, i was in stress test and useally when i was lvl15 i had about 2 gold already and thats after i bought all my suplies and ablities. I bought all the bags I have and i still have about 1 gold and 40 silver. Its not that hard to get money in this game. Everything you kill pick up what it has and sell it. Simple.

Actually its not THAT big a deal.... Only things you bought with skill points were weapon proficencies like 2 hand swords or bows....Now you just get them with money dunno if you have to goto a trainer but I dont see why it would be such a pain you gotta go back to a trainer to train new spells/specials anyways =P....
If you dont like buying your own gear try taking up a tradeskill that suits your class..... IE mining/blacksmithing for a warrior or paladin.... You can make your own gear and its worth it in the long run.
As for how much the skills cost.... thats different if they cost like 2-3g for a 50 SP skill then thats insane. We just have to wait and see.

No they haven't, and no you haven't. o.O
I'm really not too worried about it. Would rather pay the cash instead of having to farm for skillpoints. (Because skill points at low lvls come in slooooooooooooooooooooow.)

I can really only see this being a problem for warriors and possibly paladins. They already have to spend a lot of money on equipment (unless they are crazy crafters and make all their own) and now they have to buy their weapon skills too. Hopefully they wont cost that much, maybe 50 silver a pop, that isnt too unreasonable.

As a paladin, by level 30 I had like 17 gold and nothing to spend it on. Money for professions will not be a problem.

At level 15 with my paladin I had around 20 silver after spending a butt load to buy new equipment.......

Wait and see will have to see how things are with hundreds of thousands or a million people or more sounds crazy but hey its Warcraft. See how saturated it will be and time to do collect money from killin sellin or whatever. Skill points to gain skills like bow or two handed etc would make sense for the skill ya first see or so off the skill tab when ya logged on first time.

The changes to tradeskills were to help game economy. If you spend time developing a trade skill, the products of your crafts should be worth something to you to not only pay for the training but to make a profit as well. By changing from skill points to money and limiting the number of tradeskills it makes crafting/mining etc. more profitable for the player. By not requiring skill points, it also allows you to have the same caliber battle skills as non-tradeskillers. Too many games penalize you for choosing crafting over killing.
There is no profit or advantage to tradeskills when everyone has all the skills and they are easy to obtain. It would only make the game tedious.
Not to mention at lvl 60, when say you've been playing for a year.. skill points will be stacking up... could likely have several hundered thousand, just sitting there. The number would bother me. =P

At 34 I had a few hundred skill points sitting there doing nothing, and 20ish gold that I had nothing to spend on. All my gear was gotten through questing/mob drops.
Aside from bitching to hear your head roar, this affects only the tradeskillers. And only in the fact that the items that they make might be able to be sold to other players, now that you can't take up every trade skill in the game and make everything you need yourself.
Apparently you will have to buy any of the proficiencies that you want and do not start with. So if your class has access to the two handed sword proficiency, yes, you will have to buy it.

um.. okay, were talking tradeskills and weaponskills here, I'm not up on weaponskills as my toons are all casters and I settle for whatever weapon I have, However tradeskills, training a new level in say, tailoring didn't cost you any coin, true, but you could only gain another level of tradeskill from a tradeskill trainer of that trade skill.
Now, there were also the in between lvls, where you worked on your tradeskill to raise your lvl abilities up to a certain point, this was something you could only raise by practicing your tradeskill and this took time, sometimes money, and normally materials.
So, weaponskills, I don't know that they were impacted by this change, as the change was supposed to be for tradeskills. I'm patching today, I'll let you know in the morning. Weapon skills were always part of your character, you clicked on the one you wanted and if you had the SP you could gain the skill, no trainer needed. It does sound like that has changed. Again, I'm not going to say, yeah or nay, till I can check... I'll let you know what I find.
