Warrior!!! Though they die alot but i still like the feeling of rushing head on into battle and think about stratagic of how to tackle range mobs.... but sux at tanking as people will always balme you, or healer, when they die......
I personaly like the Warrior cause they can take and deal out decent damage; But have no healing; so, for that may want to try a Paladin - they have healing abilities and can also take some damage.
Hunters - once you get your pet - are pretty good for solo play.
Druids are pretty good for versitility. They can heal, tank and dps [sometimes they aren't great at all three - but they are some of the best healers from what I have heard].
Warlocks deal out massive damage-over-time; and also have pets. But their pets are a lot different than Hunter pets.
There are also the Mage, Priest, Shaman, and Rouge.
Go Shaman or druid they can both dmg deal and heal so u will allways be wanted by group and they are cleat fun to play, u will lvl slower but it will be worth it.
i have no preference some 1 tell me plz its drive me crazy
All classes are viable for both raids and PvP. Try a few characters of different classes out at low levels and see. You don't really get a basic idea of how a class plays until lvl 20ish or so, though, in my opinion.
you dont really get a basic idea of your class until 70 where everything changes about your class... i enjoyed leveling my hunter, hated endgame with it, hated leveling my warrior, loved endgame with it... u just gotta take some chances, if you feel the need to be needed roll a paladin because if you hate tanking u can go healing, people say druid, but druids truely are the jack of all trades, theyre mediocre at everything, people say they dominate the healing spectrum but they have horrible mana consumption, just try em all..
----------------------------- IVE PLAYED WOW AND LIKED IT SO IM A FANBOI PLZ FLAME MY THREADS CUZ I MIGHT MENTION WOW
With no preferences in mind I would say go for a Shaman, Paladin or Druid. That way you can mix and match roles. Then again classes I had the most fun with in order: Rogue, Mage, Paladin, Shaman, Hunter, Warrior, Priest, Warlock, Druid (Last three are under lvl 60 experience tho)
Play a warlock. They are a blast to lvl. And you get some cool minions. Yes they are kinda squishy at first, but just build up some resilance for pvp and your okay. And learn SL/SL.
Warlocks and Hunters are esentially the best class to play if you are just starting. They are the easiest to level and the least complex (pve, anyways).
If you don't prefer being at range then for melee those choices would be Rogues and Druids. Feral and Balance Druids are extremely easy to level why rogues, somewhat in the middle of easyness and difficulty in leveling compared to other classes, is one of the most fun classes you'll have leveling.
Rogue was my first and still it's the one I had most fun with, I'm trying a warlock now (lvl57), it's just funny how diferent it feels, PVP is lol, I have time to /dance and /flirt while I fight. I got a druid to 59 and then I was done, not realy fun for me.

I would say rogue , its the funniest class to play when you're new in game .
If you like to PvP (on a PvP server) take a rogue or a druid (for healing).
If you like to PVE (no matter what server) take a paladin.
You can take ALL roles (healer - tank and very good dps since TBC) just respec
If you want to fight both as tank in PVE or as DPS in PVP: take the warrior: dual wield with 2 H weapons in the new WotLK (ough !)
Play a warlock. They are a blast to lvl. And you get some cool minions. Yes they are kinda squishy at first, but just build up some resilance for pvp and your okay. And learn SL/SL.
Rogue or druid if its your first char. Steath helps you a lot when you level.

Druids for sure. Jack of all trades. If you get past the fist 20 levels so you get catform, after that it's fun as hell
I would pick a Rogue or a Hunter because they have the same role in both pvp and pve, and they are not so gear dependent as most outher classes..
Want to play: Lego Universe

If only SW:TOR could be this epic...
