The issue, which you brought up, is equipment. You can either continue to Snark, or you can just absorb the info I've given you, which is this: there's a LOT of customization of equipment in WoW, and you probably won't be wearing much (if any) Quest Gear past level 30- not if you group a lot, or are in a guild.
Ironically, I think you have some good points regarding the Honor System- points I repeated over on the official boards. If/When Blizzard responds to them, I'll post their response here.

Well, you can level up an "honor mule biotch" pretty easily and log your 25 ne rogue in and let all your tauren buddies beat the shiot out of him for honor points and then have them do the same. Man, you'd have to have never known the touch of a woman if you were willing to level up a character just to beat up for Honor points. But since there are a lot of MMORPGers that fit this description exactly, I agree that it's an issue. I hope they do something to address it. The difference between me and you is that I tend to believe that they'll recognize that it's a problem, where as you apparently don't.
Actually, I read on the beta forums about this issue. If you create a character on a pvp based server, all other characters you create on that server will be forced to the original faction. (example: if you make an orc on the Mannoroth server, you will only be able to have orcs, trolls, tauren, and undead on that server until you delete all characters.) This takes care of the honor farming and "spying" that is prevalent in many MMOs.

Weapon I am not going to cry you a river, I just think you are a selfish prick as do many others, including many of your fellow CB people who posted the same sentiments on the CB boards...
A friend of mine used to say...
Just because you have the right to do something doesn't make it right.
I live in Gainesville, FL and we have suffered through a couple of hurricanes over the last month (actually during the stress test). The last left about half the city without power including my parent's home. I live in a more affluent area and our power was the first to get turned back on. In other sections of the city they had "Meals on Wheels" out delivering bottled water and hot meals to folks with no power. This was paid for by our city using funds that come from local taxes. Now, I pay these taxes so I had every right to get in my car and drive over there and get some free food and water that my tax dollars had bought. Did I? Of course not, but then again, I am not a selfish prick am I?
Enough of that Weapon. You are cool. Ten people in my old EQ guild wanted to get into the stress test and couldn't because they were on the waiting list. No problem, man, you deserved it.
------
When I'm subscribed to a MMO. I usually play it for 4 to 6 hours a day. Pay my 12.95 or whatever a month, and i'm happy. A casual gamer say a college student. Can play for lets say 1 to 3 hours a day. Maybe 3 or 4 days a week. He pays his 12.95 a month just like me.
Why shouldn't someone that pays the same amount as me. Not be allowed to level up and enjoy the game just as much as me? With the amount of time he/she can afford to spare. Is my money greener or in some odd way better then his/hers? Is my time more valuable then his/hers?
That is stupid. Because you pay $12 a month you and I should enjoy the same amount of in-game success if I put in quadruple the time? LOL. maybe they can have a setting where you can be better if you pay $50 per month eh? Or maybe you mean that the guy who pays $300 on ebay for an account is the one deserving of being the best. After all, it is a question of money invested and its proportional relationship to in game success.
Stupid.
You make it sound like you can't enjoy the game unless you are maxed out. You make it sound like being level 25 (rather than 60) and hunting, questing, crafting, and interacting with your friends and the world is a "living hell" if you aren't the highest possible level.
What in life doesn't reward those who put in more time? Football and golf are both games yet the person who puts in the time and effort can expect better results than the fatass who sits on the couch all day. You want to be in Starbucks discussing Fahrenheit 911 while I am leveling and enjoy the same end game benefits I do and have your character equal mine? Stupid.
I don't owe you anything because you don't have enough free time to play a game. If you are that strapped for financial reasons then perhaps FPS and RTS games will be more conducive to your personal success. If you choose not to invest the time because you are doing other enjoyable social activities because you "lead the life of Reilly" well then you simply CHOOSE not to invest the time. Either way you don't deserve to get the same results I do with more time invested.
I have time to play mmorpgs because I have worked my ass off to get here. If you can't afford the time to play because you have to work or whatever then get your ass out there and earn yourself some free time. Even though you expect crap handed to you for free with minimal effort invested in a computer game I can ASSURE you, the real world won't hand you a damn thing if you don't go earn it.
I am satisfied with the Honor Mule Biotch thing. On a pvp server you can only be Horde or Alliance.
However, I read a post by Greyrage stating that Guild A (Alliance) and Guild B (Horde) will simply make an agreement to use alts to farm honor.
I never thought of this and I guess if people want to figure out ways to cheat there is really no way to close every loophole. This still touches on the "leveling is too fast issue" because if it took a year to get to 60 you wouldn't have people as willing to try and level up Honor fodder...
As of now the cutoff is 7 levels. A 55 would gain honor killing a 49 but lose honor on a 47. My understanding is that there is no net honor change at 7, ie a level 48.
So imagine this...a Horde guild gets together and attacks a Human town. They are primarily level 60 and a bunch of 50s 51s and 52s show up to defend. Well, the town can't be taken because the Horde has to back off or risk losing honor and going from normal rep -----> Criminal -------> Fugitive -------> Desperado ------> Outcast/Pariah.
If you don't see a problem with a level 52 being able to singlehandedly cause a level 60 to retreat then you have not done a great deal of pvp.
I see two 47s trying to kill a 55 and him unable to fight back.
I don't understand the complaints. If you don't like the Honor system, then just pretend it doesn't exist. Nobody is FORCING you to care about it. In fact, if you ignore it long enough, you get what many of the anti-Honor people have been claiming to want all along- unrestricted PvP. Of course, it's only unrestricted in that YOU can be attacked anywhere, but if full-out PvP is your goal, that shouldn't bother you much.

Tombs, i think u r taking this to extremes. Powergamers will always be better then casual gamers (at least with the number of quality/rare items) so you wont be discouraged not to spend time into this game. Most casual gamers will simply have quested armor/weapons or common droped armor/weapons with occasionally rare item that they were lucky to loot of a common mob. Power gamers will have a lot more of those rare items becuase they spend much more time hunting/questing. And since they will level faster, they will get to raid content much faster as well. The point that you have missed is that casual players should have a freedom to NOT spend a lot of time into this game. They CAN get to max level, they CAN theoretically get good/rare items. Blizzard doesnt want to follow EQ where you HAD to invest 5-8 hours daily in order to get to top levels and get top gear. The difference is in my opinion in speed and chances. Power gamers get better items faster and more often. So basically you ARE being rewarded for the time spent. In 1 month of game play u r level lets say 40 with some good items while some other casual gamer is level 20-30 with common gear. I believe i answered that issue.
On the honor issue. I believe that is easily solved as well. Since a level 60 will get honor from killing level 53+ then in order to be a honor mule biotch the other side would have to make an alt and level it to 53. I dont believe this is a tangible option to invest so much time just to give u few honor points, and even if someone would of done that, its easily fixable - simply make a counter on a char, when they get killed, u losoe a portion of honor, once u reach zero, u neither loose more nor give honor points. Thus, no more honor mules.
If you are level 60 and you attack Alliance town that is being defended by level 50, then all you got to do is attack the guards. If the level 50 attacks u, u can retaliate without honor penalty (youve got a right to defened yourself). If they do not, u win by default by slaying the town guards and capturing the city (i havent gotten that far so I dont know if its possible to capture a town in the first place). So basically my suggestion would be, if someone who would give u negative honor if ud kill them does not interfere with your assault - then you win by default.
I believe i answered alll your issues in the last few posts. Most of the issues at the beginning were answered by weapon-x. You had some valid questions/issues, but somewhere in the middle of the post things got heated up and you and weapon-x ended up at each others throats. Please calm down and think this as an adults (I am assuming both of you are adults). Taking aside all the unpleasantries, I think we have answered all the problems you have mentuned in this post. Please feel free to post more of your concerns and hopefully people will join us in our discussion and maybe even blizzard will read through this and act on one of more of our sugestions.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
Leveling speed will never be acceptable to me. I think it is too fast and too easy to level at its current rate and the only thing you have answered about that is "Tough, we like it because we don't play much". So, that has been answered but not satisfactorily for me so might as well move on.
After a month and a half I will be maxed. Let me try and explain it a little less aggressively.
For me, I enjoy seeing my character improve. I don't want to max out. I don't want to hit a stage where my character stops, becomes stagnant, gear doesn't improve and there is nothing to do but play another class or pvp for honor all the time. A 65 in EQ could raid and, although his level won't change, become stronger by raiding. He could progress in the game by opening access to new areas via flags, etc... Because WoW is such a fast experience to max out level how in the world will they keep up with new content and things to do?
I prefer to have the constant ability to advance. It isn't as much a desire to be better than you although that is part of it
Most casual gamers will simply have quested armor/weapons or common droped armor/weapons with occasionally rare item that they were lucky to loot of a common mob. Power gamers will have a lot more of those rare items becuase they spend much more time hunting/questing. And since they will level faster, they will get to raid content much faster as well.
If this is the case then great. If they add raid content that it takes a guild of 40 level 60s to acquire distinctive items/armor/weapons then I will be happy. Thus far, those items (and the raid content) is not in game. For chest mail there is no legendary or artifact pieces, the best piece appears to be epic and drops in BRD off Gorosh - Savage Gladiator Chain.
Currently there are a couple big item issues with druids.
Greuken Undead Mage
This is why caster itemization completely sucks and the game desperetly needs a well developed "spell foci" system.
Nalsiri Human Rogue
The low availability of good daggers has been a problem throughout all level ranges since I started playing WoW, and we should definitely be asking for much better itemization to even this out. I suspect that if a good dagger were to come out of Blackrock, using it and backstab would be better than using the sword.
Derex Human Rogue
Rogue drops across the board are low...leather drops across the board are low.
Frankly, itemization across the board is low
Harwel Tauren Shaman
Honestly our DPS is going to be mediocre either way until they fix our pets, and bow hunters in particular will have issues until they fix bow itemization.
Kambiane NE Priest
The itemization at the top end sucks regarding bows and guns, and from experience, it's marginal for the levels up to that point. But I made it a point on jumping on every bow/gun (whatever had more dps at that level) I could get.
I am not the only one questioning itemization. These quotes I got in about 2 minutes and I get the feeling that right now there are a lot of level 55s wearing and wielding EXACTLY the same thing as others in their class. There are additional posts of people saying they have the same items/armor they got four levels ago because there just isn't anything out there to use to upgrade it. This is a problem and goes along with the desire for constant improvement.
Now, if someone will say from Blizzard that Itemization will be unique with literally dozens of choices to make and places to quest, hunt, raid or kill to improve on your existing avatar but it just isn't in the game yet then I will say great. People are addressing this by saying "enchantments" are how we get diversified itemization =/ .
I think 2 people already stated that level speed was quickened only for beta. Level speed will be lowered at the release, by how much i do not know. I estimate it would take u 2-3 months to level to 60, at which time its easy to raise the level cap few points higher. Most of the information i provided in my posts were my suggestions. That doesnt meant that they are true or that blizzard approved it. I am only giving a logical suggestion as of how to solve problems you stated. And I wouldnt pay attention to all those people talking how they cant find armor and daggers. I played a gnome rogue and i had no problems finding items. Sure many people at my level had better stuff, but hey, I am a casual player, i dont play a lot ( i got my rogue to level 16 only) and yet i managed to get few rare items (a good dagger of a named bear Ol' something). All those rumbling is simply what it is...rumbling. Pay no attention to it because there will always be someone unhappy with items or lack of them. If you know where to search, you will find what you are looking for.

Yah thats the one, he dropped a nice dagger (8dps compared to my crafted 5ish DPS) I almost leveled my smithing to be able to make 8DPSish dagger as well, would of been nice if stress test lasted more for me to try out that dagger. Also, there is a chance that you get your hands on a formula that would let u (if u can) make a pretty much unique weapon/armor piece. So I wouldnt worry about items, there are plenty of them and Im sure they will keep adding them to reward hardcore players stand out from the rest of us sheep

Well, anyway, there was a topic on the official boards a little while ago and it was said that the devs never stated the level grind would be lowered for release.
And personally, if WoW increases the grind significantly, I'll be going to EQ2. If EQ2 and WoW have pretty much the same level grind(currently WoW's is much shorter), then EQ2 is a much better game IMO(assuming your computer can handle it...).
The only thing that's keeping me from EQ2 is the grind, and that's more than enough to base my decision on.

I am not sure where i saw the "slow down leveling" post, might of been another player made rant. Even if they dont slow it down, sure its gonna take much less time to level to max level, but thats not the point of this game (nor any other). U cant "beat" this game by leveling to max. U explore, mine, craft, engage others in PvP, if you get bored, make another char, do the same with that new char. But im betting 10 gold pieces that they are going to slow down level speed a bit, not as slow as EQ and not as fast as it is now. They are going to balance things out. I believe in them

There was a post in the ST forums from a Blizzard rep and he stated that the leveling rate MAY change for release. Now that could mean anything from faster to slower. So I guess we will just need to wait and see what it is like then.
There's going to be plenty to do after you hit 60 in WoW. That's just the BASE level cap. They've already said that after that point you can go Hero, and work on Prestige ranks.
Also, the latest patch nerfed damn near EVERYONE so hard that leveling has de facto been slowed.

I enjoyed the post on the Beta boards by Deyth. I think what would make WoW enjoyable for me is to just have one server that is FFA PVP. The more crowded it is the better because the more I and everyone else will struggle. Although I have never been in Combine or played with any of them I was in the guild formed from their ashes on Karana for four years.
Although leveling pace is technically the same it will take much longer. The problems that the Horde are experiencing now with questing in a contested area will be par for the course anytime and anywhere. There will be no Honor system but what arises from the fire and slaughter of battle as groups form clans and alliances for mutual protection and the need to dominate. This would be World of Warcraft.
If I play I will be a warrior and we took a hit. However, I certainly concede that Charge looked to be overpowered in pvp. However, it is necessary as an opening move to get enough rage to be able to do more than just hit auto-attack until some rage is generated when in battle stance. My normal opening was to use a gun to pull and then when the mob was halfway to me, charge to postiion and hold it and kill. I never got a chance to use it in large faction pvp.
Charge was not unbalanced for PVE but was for PVP and this is an example of the PVE suffering as they try to find the appropriate PVP balance =/ .
Originally posted by Djin I heard priest are pretty deadly in PvP.
Heh, because of Psychic Scream?
Sure, its alright, if you get to use it. If you can get a jump on a priest you can mess them up before they can even use the spell. Rogues can take down a priest pretty dang fast with their stunning/interrupting spells (so I've heard).
Pretty much every class has potential to be great, or bad, depending on how you play the class. You could be good with your class and own everyone, or you could suck and get owned in turn.

It isn't as much a desire to be better than you although that is part of it
If this is the case then great.

Yah thats the one, he dropped a nice dagger (8dps compared to my crafted 5ish DPS)
I almost leveled my smithing to be able to make 8DPSish dagger as well, would of been nice if stress test lasted more for me to try out that dagger. Also, there is a chance that you get your hands on a formula that would let u (if u can) make a pretty much unique weapon/armor piece. So I wouldnt worry about items, there are plenty of them and Im sure they will keep adding them to reward hardcore players stand out from the rest of us sheep

I believe there's going to be "rare" receipts to make "1337" objects... Armor, weapons, etc...
I know I am going to become a tailor... why? I did that for months with SWG.

First of all, I hate these forums because they ate my post for the 65478926463250178432th and I forgot to copy it.

So you're saying that if a game has to much of a grind, it's a turn off? So you want an easy action MMORPG then right?
Sounds to me you don't want to work for your levels or armor, or whatever... just sounds like you want an easy game.
What will he do next?
One server.
The patch...
What will he do next?
Heh, because of Psychic Scream?
Sure, its alright, if you get to use it. If you can get a jump on a priest you can mess them up before they can even use the spell. Rogues can take down a priest pretty dang fast with their stunning/interrupting spells (so I've heard).
Pretty much every class has potential to be great, or bad, depending on how you play the class. You could be good with your class and own everyone, or you could suck and get owned in turn.
