Worthwhile?

I've been looking into a good game for quite some time. I saw this has some good vibes about it, based on the threads made here.

Is there something in this game that makes it unique (Other than the fact that it is of the Horror Genre, pretty rare for a MMO.)?

Some Pros about the game would be nice, as well as some Cons, though negative things usually involve some opinion.

What about the community? I'm getting sick of competitive, prattling fools.  I just came back from playing Grand Chase, and I need a game with some pleasant PCs'.

If I think I hear enough good about this, I may play it. The only problem that I can find without actually playing this is my age , I won't actually play this if they are strict about this fact, or if this game would actually be scary enough to make someone under the appropriate age be scared to death. I do get scared easily.

dont be fooled, this game is a cookie cutter asian grinder with cash shop for such things as grinding less and being able to chat globally.

now that being said, if your looking for a free asian grinder, this game isnt half bad, its got a decent gore filled theme.

when i played it had tons of buggs, like quests having no text, which during beta wasnt too bad cuz you could ask on global chat for the mob you had to kill, now that is cash shop no more global for free.  there is also a "wicked" bug that has not been fixed where the mob you are fighting can hit you from very, very far away.....only an issue if your trying to run for your life, in which case the mobwill most likely kill you no matter how far you can get from it.  also the pvp is lame, as there is no on/off setting, when someone attacks you you gotta use the clumsy (either contol or shift+click...ive forgotten already) but either way advantage goes to the guy who clicks first.

but if you into the gore, its got some rather awesome looking mobs, that get coverd in blood as you beat the crap out of them with all the above mentiond flaws it kep my interest for a bit and it was fun, but like most of the grind based mmo's it got old and i moved on.

oh yeah and dont be afraid of being under 18 as i found a huge majority of the players were the pre-teen wow crowd, complaining about how this game "is a total wow ripp" and fighting with eachother about which mmo's are best and other pointless arguments resulting in a completely unfilterd pre-teen vocabulary assault on those who didnt agree with said opinion on whatever topic the argument was about..

oh lol, one more selling point...a few days into open beta the game was jam packed with bots and even had gold farmers spamming, i can only imagine how bad that will get as time passes.

Game is moderate to hard. Most of the kiddies don't make it past 20. Fun to play. It grows on you.

Some great class dynamics. The Shadow hunter i'm playing feels a bit like my eq druid was when kiting.

Best thing to do is try it... :)

Although it is horror themed, there's nothing in the game that is remotely frightening. Mobs (npcs) are well drawn and ugly but not scary.  The game has some major flaws, which most players aren't overly upset about (and probably won't get fixed).  For the most part, as long as you're not using Vista, the game client is very stable.

Unique features:  Havok engine (for nice ragdoll physics), beautiful graphics, unique mobs, good selection of items & upgrade options.

Cons: no substance to graphics, the game's story adds nothing, no incentive to roleplay, its a cookie-cutter Korean grinder, by design the game world seems empty, Administrators are very controlling (on the forums), no background audio to set the mood, confusing quests, no variation to character progression (quest or grind), no trade skills, social commands and actions are sparse, huge client to download...

Community: There isn't any to speak of. There are guilds in the game and most players join one, but there's not much you can do in a guild other than talk amongst yourselves. Outside the game, some guilds have forums but due to the game's lack of substance - there's not a lot to talk about.  A vast majority of players are willing to pair up for parties and except for the occasional kill-stealer or bot, the players are very pleasant.

Age: Ignore the age limit. Unless you want to pay to play - in which case an adult would be required, there is no age-check.  A majority of players are young teens.  The age requirement is purely a marketing and legal issue (gore & partial-nudity). [Scantily clad yes, partially nude no.]

Scarey?: No. Initially the graphics of the game will be your main focus.  Everything has crisp detail. And yes, the gruesome NPCs may be momentarily surprising (even captivating), but very quickly you'll be focusing on the next kill and less on their appearance.  Before jumping into the game, go to Youtube and search for Requiem clips.

Runs perfect on my copy of vista. Been playing almost a week with no crashes or issues. Young teens? Thats real hard for me to belive unless its the most well behaved group of teens ever. Folks are friendly, helpfull and mature. nothing like wow/aoc childrens chat. There is a thread up on the main forums about rating the game and comunity seems to be at the top of the list. Backround audio is working on my copy of the game.

    1. I've been playing since closed beta (February) and Vista users have had the majority of compatibility issues.  (Documented on the game's forum.)

    2. Teens are a major component of any online game. If global chat was enabled for free players, as it was in beta, it would be obvious to you. Out of sight, out of mind. Global chat is only open to paying customers which requires an adult to authorize payment. Players are more likely to be responsible when their money is on the line. Pllayers are surprisingly well mannered generally, but there are reasons for this: hackshield (which makes running bots/cheating difficult ) and the dependency on group-play for completion of many quests. [ If you are looking for the most well behaved & friendly server, play on Valdes. When Requiem opened, the server was opened to subscribers prior to the public, thus the server retains a high percentage of mature players.]

    3. Background audio - by that I meant music or atmospheric audio that set the mood and facilitate to immerse the player in the game's environment. There is no music.  However there are sound effects, like footfalls when a character moves.  Background sound is bland (wind when outside) and repetitive.  Some players enjoy the minimalistic audio, while others don't.

    hmm hack shield preventing botting....

mabey you dont remember the bot problem after a few days of beta, hell they even had gold spammers.

mabey that is not the case now since they disabled global chat, at the cost of ruining the community imo.

but other than that your spot on from how i feel this came turned out to be.

i tried the game out again but i deleted it after a few min.  before you choose you class i forgot how dull the game is, and with no global chat (as bad as it was during beta) it was even more boring. a lot of gore no substance.

Why anyone would want to listen to retarded 12-16 year old chat for hour after hour is beyond me. And then calling this community really blows me away.

One of the biggest pluses in this game is that I don't have to listen to it. Guild chat and regional is perfect imho.

But hey... Each to thier own. I guess some folks like hearing chuck norris jokes hour after hour.

I played this game in closed and open beta and the game really died in release with the global chat being cash shop item. The game really was good but now I do not know, if it is going to be anything as the gamers went missing and the released game has not many players in it also.
     Cheers

Global chat is not a cash shop item... lots of folks playing from what I see.

Regional chat is premium or basic only.

This game is pretty much just like Last Chaos, but the mobs are harder to kill. You also get to customize your toon a bit more.

Leveling is very slow even with premium. I'd say its pretty boring, too, once you're past lvl 20. They somehow expect us to literally kill the same thing over and over again, and then move on to the next mob to kill over and over.

An F2P game that has some potential. If they made all the levels like 1-18 this game would rock. As it is once past lvl 20 its a MAJOR grindfest.

I'm also kinda disappointed that premium is as much as mainstream games(more if you include shop), but offers no where near the development or structure.
