WoW, is it too late to play?

bakkhai42bakkhai42 Member Posts: 27

I've resisted for years now, but  I've seen all my friends go to it, play it, quit it, etc... I feel like I already missed the WoW party and I'm just going there to help clean up, lol.

Is it still worth playing, or had it seen better days ?

I'm not sure why you resisted WoW.

It has a 10 day free trail.  Go try it.

Play a hunter.  At level 10 you'll get your pet.

Play a priest and go around buffing strangers with Fort, some will say thanks.

Play a rogue on a pvp server and go around ganking people.

Level up to 70 in about a month or so depending on how much you play.

Join in the forums, the best part of the game arguably, join in the fray.

    and so on.

It's come to the time when a lot of the vocal MMO players (like the people here, heh) are leaving WoW, or have left, for the better and brighter things that are promised elsewhere. Many of these will tell you that there's no point in playing it now.

WoW, however, is still the most popular MMO by heaps and heaps, so I don't think it's late at all. If you get into it, then you'll just feel like you've been playing it for ages anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

    I say go for it!

    Never too late for WoW.

Making alts is everyday in WoW, so obviously it's very friendly to people making new chars, or completely new people.

You'll see many benefits playing now as you can be granted welfare epics quite easily or just enjoy your time in there how you see fit, pvp'in, questing, raiding, fooling around, or being some jerk griefing people, lol.

Beware though, WoW has the habit of making people addicted to it, especially newly comers who gets sucked into the game, like a billion dollar hooker.

Just try the trial and decide for yourself.

Well, it's never "too late" to join WoW and you'll be just as viable as any other player once you get into some decent gear. As long as you can get in with a couple of good friends you should be fine.

I think you deserve to be told, though, that IMO the community is by far the worst in the early levels. Not only do you have to deal with twits who can't play their classes, or people who follow you around spamming /duel, but nobody will take you seriously because of those stereotypes until you get to a decent level. It'll be a month or so before you even really start playing, unless you really like solo questing or you have some friends who are willing to join you.

    THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES:

    [more info]

I didn't jump in at first b/c I was fine with my beloved SWG, and the cartoonish nature of the game seemed fit for younger players - I am older, 35+.  I came back toe SWG last year and had a ball, but the dang game has lost too many players for me to enjoy anymore.  If I were new I'd love it, but since I remember the starports teeming with people it just feels , meh.

    So I'm moving on...

I'm not a fan of warcraft, I don't like the illustrations and afk dances, and I heard it was full of mean ass kids. But it's got 10 Million people playing it!  But if it's in decline I don't want to be a part of a dying game again.  That feeling that the party is ending and people are leaving is terrible on my moral.

I guess I'm just looking or population and a thriving game.

You sound more like a LOTRO type.  There are a lot of ex SWG people in LOTRO.

LOTROs slow pace keeps the immature types out.

    Good point.

    One last thing --

I need to become a casual gamer (or wife will leave me, lol).  Something I can turn off and on quickly.  So maybe solo playing might be needed...  Also I use a MAC to game and if it has a mac client like WoW then it would be much faster for me change back to work.  That's one of the reasons I wanted to join WoW - they have a OSX client.

WoW is very soloable, Lotr is as well I believe, if you decide to give WoW a try I run a casual player guild on Kul Tiras if your interested (alliance side). I have members in their 50's so thinking WoW just has kids playing it is totally untrue. People seem to judge everything off of general chat in the major cities so everyone is accused of being a child. I dont even look at general chat, usually just stay in guild chat when on.  Good luck in your search.

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.
