question about jedi, pre-nge

Someone recently posted that he/she was working on becoming a Master Jedi, pre-nge. I was under the impression that players did not receive the rank of Master. Am I remembering this correctly?

When the FRS was still in game, you could "fightclub" to get the rank of Master. There was no way to do it legitamately.

Hey Fickus, thx for the response. Pardon my ignorance, but would you mind clarifying the difference between "fighclubbing" and earning the rank legitimately? I'm just not sure what you mean.
Also, if I remember right, the FRS was out of the game long before the NGE, is that correct?

Basically, you just got a bunch of Jedi from the opposite faction( or BH's), and they let you kill them till you get rank. Then you let them kill you. The amount of XP needed to get master and the rate at which XP decayed pretty much required every person on the server to be a jedi pvp'ing in the FRS every night lol. There was just no possible way to do it if i remember correctly..it was just too much XP and it decayed too fast. Its been along time though so Im sure someone else could explain it alot better.
And yes..the FRS went bye-bye with the CU.

FRS disappeared with the CU.
"Fightclubbing" was arranging PvP (usually on the roof of a PA hall or something) so the Jedi could get their FRS points or however it worked. I was nowhere close to Jedi pre-CU, so I'm not exactly sure of the mechanics of it. But it was essentially sandbagging PvP so the Jedi could rank up.
So I started to walk into the water. I won't lie to you boys...I was terrified. But I pressed on, and as I made my way past the breakers, a strange calm came over me. I don't know if it was divine intervention or the kinship of all living things, but I tell you, Jerry, at that moment ... I was a marine biologist.

"Fightclubbing" was the inevitable result of yet another system that the developers never thought through. So, when the CU came along, they just threw up their hands and said the hell with the whole thing.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

I was the only pre-FRS Jedi Master, and only on the QA server because I had access to level my skills. I actually was a light and dark Master at the same time lol. Oh, at it was broken before the FRS anyway, broken meaning it was not even possible to unlock Master.
Do you know why the master box for jedi wasnt available pre-pub 9? What was the master box like on the QA server? Was it pretty sweet or not much different from Guardian 4-4-4-4?

It wasn't available because at the time I don't think they wanted anyone running around with a title of "Jedi Master." That was the only reason, it was disabled on purpose. Just another trickle down problem with the time period they were locked into.
Master gave you a big force pool bonus and a few other stats in addition to the highest level AOE attack if I remember right. I think it was like +500 to force which I remember as being pretty significant, but I also think it was something insane like 10 million Jedi xp to unlock. But as far as a Guardian 4-4-4-4 it wasn't much different other than the coolness factor.

What do you mean? You can't possibly mean that there are more Jedi Masters running around in the era of Palpatine's Empire than they did before the Clone Wars?
