What are you looking forward to the most in WAR?

Since we did the negative thread, I figured I would make a positive thread. That are you most looking forward to in WAR?

Me...I can't wait for keep sieges and the Lost Vale.

    My first post, hello

Looking forward to RvR. I've heard many people over the years say how great it was in DAoC.

looking forward to exploring everything in the game.

  • Ascension08Ascension08 Member Posts: 1,980

Definetely the PvP but also exploring the lands and experiencing some of the Warhammer British humour. I hope it has a "DAoC feel" to the environments...when I played DAoC on Albion it felt very real, very authentic. I know it might not be quite the same for the Empire but I hope it really feels like 16th century Europe.

Then once I enjoy the sightseeing I can enjoy the meat and bones, which of course will be RvR!

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Looking forward to exploiting any bugs in the game to level fast, get money fast, and kill people.

I've been thinking, and I know what my top 10 favorite things are, but what are your guys'?

Here are mine, in order of how much I am excited for them.

    1) Gear Undependency - I've always hated how in other games, the major factor on the winner of a fight was whoever had the better gear. It didn't reward those for their skill in combat, but for their time investment into getting good gear. In WAR, it's been said that gear, although it will help in combat, will not as big of a factor as other skill-based things. This is just the first thing to show that Mythic knows exactly what we, the players, want!

    2) Level with RvR and PvE - I, for one, hate PvE. I can stand little amounts of PvE, if its fun and there's a reason for it. This is a major thing that turns me off other MMORPG's. I just cannot stand leveling to the max, killing robots(Usually by myself, too.) This is probably the thing that caught my eye and made me read more about Warhammer. I just love the fact that I can go do some quests for PvE if I want, but if I get bored I can go have fun and kill a bunch of enemy players and still get levels.

    3) Keeps - When I heard that they decided to add keeps to the game, I was just ecstatic. In other games, I never felt like I was fighting for anything. But now, in Warhammer, I feel like I am fighting, with others, towards keeping or taking over a part of the world that is a sense of pride.

    4) Living Guilds - Living guilds are a fantastic idea. I just love how it isn't just a little nametag, a list of people, and an extra channel to talk with people(As it is in other games.). In Warhammer, your guild levels with you, you get unlocks on your guild as it levels, your guild will have banners that help in large scale combat.

    5) City Sieges - In many other MMO's, cities were nothing more than a place to trade, find groups, or socialize. They were just places that noone really cared about defending if they were ever attacked, because not only will the attackers really be able to do long-term damage, what is funny is that there are so many people inside the city just talking(probably because there was nothing else to do in the game) that they outnumbered the attackers 10 to 1. And since there were no long-term consequences, they never changed at all. But, in Warhammer, you will have to fight to be allowed to keep your city. There will be long-term consequences if you don't. With other games, there would maybe be 20-40 people attacking your city(if they ever did), but in Warhammer it is going to be hundreds, if not thousands, of blood-thirsty raiders that would be happy to pillage your city and lower its rating, and you are the only one that can stop them.

    6) Tome of Knowledge - The Tome of Knowledge is such a great idea. I'm not the most knowledgeable to exactly what it will do, but I do think this is what it will function like. Finally a game comes with a tool that will keep track of your achievements. It'll have unlocks for you to get, tell you where you've been and what you've done. Maybe it'll have meters such as to keep track of damage delt, healing delt, damage taken, healing taken. I would love to see how much damage I have inflicted since I first started the game. There are so many possibilities that this holds!

    7) Public Quests - I have always hated doing quests and leveling all alone. It was, and will never, be fun. But, WAR brings an all new meaning to quests. No longer will I be forced to solitude while I level. Now, I can group up with tons of other people and work toward one common goal. Also, I love how loot is rewarded. You can't just join on the last part of a Public Quest and get the same reward as the guy who was there when it started. You are rewarded for your participation. Also, this is a great socializing feature. You will be grouping up and strategizing with random strangers. This will force people to go out and make friends. What a great idea!

8 ) Scenarios - There are too many things to love about scenarios. In another game especially, which shall remain unnamed, there were only 4. And these 4 "battlegrounds", as they call them, had no reason other than to "farm"(and trust me, all they were used for was just to grind continuously) "honor points" and these stupid little things called "Marks of Honor". "Honor Points" and "Marks of Honor" were just another tool to gain gear. It was funny to see 10 people make a "pre-made" group and then purposely do nothing to lose incredibly fast to get honor and marks so that you wouldn't have to have a long, ongoing fight. Now, onto Warhammer's scenarios. There are a reason to do scenarios. FUN! They aren't made to grind until you're bored, they are there for going in and having a great amount of fun in a short amount of time. Not only do you have fun in Warhammer's scenarios, but there are other bonuses. As with other things, you will level in scenarios. You will gain renown, your success in scenarios will help in the war-effort of the ultimate goal of sacking enemy cities, but most importantly you are going to enjoy your time in a scenario.

    9) Living Cities - As mentioned earlier, I hate the idea of having a city be nothing but a place that never changes. You have to work to get to be a prosperious and beautiful place in WAR. Not only do you have to work to open new locations and raise its raiting, but you will have to put every ounce of strength in defending your hard work from the enemies that are trying to sack it and take it back to a garbage dump.

    10) Combat System - Warhammer's combat system is unlike any I have ever seen. The 3 different types of abilities are just ingenious! Action(which most other MMO's stop here), tactics, and morale abilities are just another way that you can customize your character. Not only are they good for customization of your playstyle, you will need to strategize to use them correctly. This just adds another reason why you need to have skill, because the person with more skill and knowledge of how to play the game is going to win the fight. Also, another thing which just gets me jumping up and down is the multi-targeting system. This makes our lives so much more easier. Now, we can heal/buff our friend and kill/debuff our enemy at the same time, without having to search around and looking for them.

    Others)

Unique Classes - Having 24(20 for now) seperate classes just crushes other games in choosing exactly how you want to play your game.

Trophies - I like being able to let every one know of my accomplishments. It's a great feeling letting the person that you just killed know that you were the guy that killed his King and also part of the raid that stole your keep.

And, just to sum it up, Warhammer is just going to rock. I just named 12 different things which Warhammer is going to have over other games, and there are many, many other features which I didn't include but Mythic Entertainment is going to have much better than any game out there.

I have no idea why there are so many new features in Warhammer that are so incredibly ingenious and yet are superbly great, but yet no other games have them! All I have to say now is great job Mythic, keep up the GREAT work!

Starting a new MMO really... Its been a long time for me.  With WoW I joined a while after it launched and I really miss starting off with everyone else like I did in Lineage2.  As long as WAR is half decent, I'll have a lot of fun.

Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

    RvR, of course!

I've always loved faction PvP, and since AoC's Bane server isn't really set up for that, I've got high hopes for WAR to give me what I want!

Im hopeing WAR will have personality like WoW had (no this isnt a war=wow post, its just wow is a game with a lot of it) but it seems now days its hard to come across a game with personality, they all seem kinda bland. But other than that some good RvR action

It's all about balanced PvP starting at level 5.  Only 5 levels of grinding then I can roam about freely engaging in a large assortment of PvE and PvP quest.  I can take my time levelign as I enjoy all the goodies in the game.

Non recipe crafting.  I can take the junk I have collected, and jsut make stuff out of it without buying and spamming old usless recipes.

White lion.  A melee pet class.  ITS ABOUT TIME!
