What are the specs of everquest1?

AngelboundAngelbound Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 1,437

Im seriously considering taking a look at eq1 its been many years since ive played but it was the only true mmorpg experience ive ever had, not one game has entertained me as much as the everquest 1 bard even the everquest2 bard couldnt do it im not really sure why, but I loved being jack of all  trades and exploring there was so much to explore in that game. I guess the main reason I enjoyed eq1 the best is the freedom in its own way it is a sandbox and I did not realize it until recently but that is what a fullfilling mmorpgs is for me.

Ive tried time and time again to get into wow and others but there just to linear even everquest 2 felt linear, anyways im sure alot has changed by now im pretty confident they took out song twisting which I was good at back in the day and probably did something like they did in eq2.

Anyways im just wondering what the specs are now days im on an older computer but plan on getting a new one pretty soon thanks everyone.

I run it on a notebook with 256 MB of RAM and an intel M processor.

If your computer is anything better than that it's fine.

I deffinatly need a new graphics card then before I buy a new computer if I want to run everquest 1 now, I mostly posted here to maybe discuss eq and learn what changes have been made, the last expansion I played through was the one after the planes I believe so thats about 10 years I believe.

    By the way thanks.

    By the way thanks.

You played GoD (Gates of Discord).

They now have OOC regen, out of combat regen, which means you regen much faster if you sit.

You don't longer need to medidate to scribe spells either.

    They revamped zones.

The TSS expansion lets you lvl all the way up to lvl 75 without needing to go to other expansions except for gear.

People finally beat Tunat in Tacvi =).

Ok, just ask anything else you need to know.

And I don't know how to hate or love EQ btw, so no fanboi here.

Hmmm is there still alot of variety in spells? Are the melee classes much more interesting? Are the quests better and give better exp/rewards? Is there any unique twists? And how would you rate the new graphics/animations compared to lets say anarchy online?

Are the melee classes much more interesting? A bit I guess. Most have aura's now. They're spells you cast and they stay around the caster like an AeO for like 30 minutes, influencing anyone who comes close and is in group. Some also got group spells like bards. Accuracy and atk etc.

Are the quests better and give better exp/rewards? After some complaining they made quest XP better in SoF. But that's if you are lvl 75+. It's nothing like WoW, but it's a bit better.

Is there any unique twists? In norrath? Not really =). You can use fellowships now though. They're like mini guilds, up to 9 people. You can set a campfire in a spot and you get an item so you can get together faster. The guild equivalent are raid banners. (They look like a banner flag).

And how would you rate the new graphics/animations compared to lets say anarchy online? It's better than AO, but that doesn't say much lol. It's decent I guess. The animations haven't changed since Luclin though. They're still the same. There's a new race calle 'Drakkin' though. They're half human half dragon.

Well I meant twists as is there better ways to level other then simply fighting monsters, or special events with the lore or anything like that. And I meant do the melee/fighting classes have more combat abilitys? They where pretty limited when I played. Yea I know the bard gets buffs like that kind of cool the melee classes do now but its the same in eq2 pretty much.

    Dragon race that is awesome.

There are lots of quests and tasks about but I just preferred combat, can't tell you what they're like for xp- don't think it was that great but I'm sure I heard someone say you can level up by quests in SerpentSpine.

Thanks nomaiden, yea I remember now there where places to get good exp through quests when I was playing to.

Man, that brings back memories.  Anybody remember how big of a controversy it was when that one expansion upped the recommended RAM to 512MB?
