Most likely not. I've invested a lot of time into WoW, and it's hard to break away from it.
i dont think ill ever understand this mentality. its a game, you dont owe them anything. your stuff will still be there if you resub later.
Well, I have a addictive personality. And if a game can't grab me within a week, chances are I'll leave it a week, or less, later. I've quit playing WoW 4 or 5 times now. But not one single MMO has been able to grab me as WoW does. I know WoW has less to offer than some, and the graphics are just... horrible, by todays standards. But it doesn't matter in the end.
Besides, I've been Beta Testing Warhammer Online for over a year now. And I know it's not a game for me.
I'll probably wait until a month or two after release, to see if the game is bugged, if something is missing, etc. Hopefully this won't happen, but it's always good to stay on the safe side.

I understand this perfectly. He's having a good time playing WoW, so no need to check out WAR right now. It's like your favorite pair of old shoes. They are already broken in and comfy, and there's still some sole left on them, so why buy new ones and go through breaking them in? You can always do that when the old ones finally wear out.

That's perfectly understandable. It is easier to play an MMO after the first couple of months, when a few bugs get fixed, the servers are stabilized and not crashed from everyone starting new accounts at the same time, and so on.
But there's also that certain excitement of starting the game right from the beginning. I think that will be fun, even if I have to put up with some bugs and server crashes. That is of course, unless they drop the NDA and all the beta testers say the game is a turd, but I don't think that will be the case.

erm...
And I know it's not a game for me.
fair enough, can i ask why? im looking forward to it, but if there are major flaws then perhaps its better to know now.
I'm a little lazy, so I am not goign to split this up as neatly as you did :P
I got the Beta invite at the 19th of July 2007. So, over a year.
Well, if you don't like the grind in MMO's. Especially the huge amount of quests you can get in a game like WoW, WAR is significantly worse. The public quests they speak so highly of, well... at first they are huge amounts of fun. In later Tiers, it becoems a reputation grind like many in the Outlands of WoW. Except, you only get to choose one item at three different intervals. The combat system is a bit weird, overly simple for my taste.
But, if it makes you feel better, there are a many players in the beta that do love it. So it is probably different for each person.
To many games i like at the moment, and since Mythic steered away from their three way warfare design, i can find head to head pvp in just about every game.
I wish it the best though! From what i've heard it will be a much higher quality then AoC, which is a very good thing.

You're missing an option for, "I'll try it if the anticipation doesn't cause my head to explode"
And it's been confirmed.
Were is the "abso freaking lutly" option. Mythic is ,imo, the greatest MMO company in the market and I'll play anything that they make.
I'll try it if they give out a free trial. Other wise no. Last game I bought without playing a demo first was Fallout 2.
Hopefully they do an open beta without screwing everyone over like AoC. Who does a stress test/major beta with an old build?

And after all of that time "invested", he has nothing to show for it. None of the items gained or earned belong to him.
There is no "probably" about it. September 18, 2008 is the release date for WAR.
