I heard that there is not permadeath, but there is procreation.... If you and another gender of the same race procreate... That female will give birth to a male chile and female child.... Then the 2 original characters that procreated, will age and die... Thus leaving you with the 2 children that were born if you were the male character you have the male child and vice versa..... This is the only instance in Death that I have heard of..... Hope this helps

There are no perma death in ryzom atm (thank god who seriously wants to loose months of moneys worth of gameplay to a discon) in the very near future it should be possible to get offspring tho, where the parent eventually will die. So a form of optional perma death is coming, but if u dont wanna die then u wont.

They have also stated that each race of homin live exeptionally long lives..... and as stated above the only way that your orginal character, will die if he/she procreate's with another character and gives birth to 2 children(1male/1female) and those children will retain all knowledge that the parents had and once the parents eventually die, you will pick up with the child that was born

So if you procreate with a mage and you are a warrior, the child will be a mage/warrior with all the skills of his parents?? Or did I understand it wrong?

The skill system doesnt limit you to what you want to be, though Rohen. You can be the best in everything if you have enough time, so a high skill mage and a high skill warrior would equal something close to half the strength of each.

I know, I played the beta, but with the procreate system, you can get a mage/fighter at double level in the same period of time you would normally make one good fighter or an average mage/fighter... Dont you think?

Hmmm, that's a good point Rohen, but I'm not sure they will do it like that. Heck, I have no idea how they are going to do it. I hope it's pretty cool, because I would get pretty mad if I get married, have a kid, then can't play for about 4 weeks, then come back to find that my kid is the onely one still alive and is a low level fighter or something. Bleh

Then again, I guess I wouldn't wait for 4 weeks since it would be a whole month, and I wouldn't pay for something that I don't play.

The parents classes shouldn't have any effect on the child really, if my dad was good at fighting then I can't inheriet his ability, but he could teach me

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit

Well, I dont know about that, Cactus. There are children that have seemed to inherit their parents genes and are good at the things the parents are.

But then again, there are some people that didn't inherit any qualities of their parents. Example: George W Bush has no skills as a president. image

But if you could teach him, its exactly the same as inheriting the skills... no?

Yeah but shouldn't your parents be able to teach you their class, which would also leave it open for the kid to venture off on their own path, so warrior+mage= warrior, mage, ranger, thief or whatever they want to, but the kid would still boost in warrior and mage skills from the parents

I guess it can be something like that. But if it really comes into the game, I'm very excited to see how they will work it out... Maybay its the best like you said. Or maybay the kid just get random skills from the parents, like it is in real life. Not everything but only half of the skills. Actually I dont know whats the best... image

Isnt there any official information for Nevrax about this?image

Hmm, maybe if they inherited a small part to give them a head start in that direction, and could get better with training. therefore, they could become a small warrior/mage, but with mommie and daddie training him, he could become a better warrior/mage. But maybe little jonnie wants to be an artist? Well, little jonnie can become a crafter and not get trained by mommie and daddy.

Of course, if he becomes an artist, he will have to live at home.image

    LOOOOL imageimageimage

But then you have to be able to play with both the parent and little jonnie at the same time if you want to help levelling your kid... Think that isn't possible, or isnt the meaning of it...

Oooooo, maybe your kid will act like a pet? But, if he dies, think the kid dies?

Oh that would be awesome. But I have a feeling people would just start using their kids as a pet class, so they would get married and use their kid for some extra damage output. Just procreate and kill, rinse and repeat. image

Opened a topic last night at the official ryzom forums and they all say that it is planned to be in the game. But that it will probably take a while...

And no more details so far...

Hmm, I wonder what our kids will look like? Think they will take the hair colors, facial features, ear sizes, eye colors, and mix them all together?

So, like a tall dad and short mom will produce a medium kid? Or do you think they will define dominant features image

In any case, I want several kids... a BIG family image

Will you marry me GothicChylde? image

I don't wear underwear, so you know what that means!

Well, ok, it means that it's really cold in here and I'm just washing my clothes and had no extra, so nm, you probably don't want to marry me. image
