My favorite feature is the archetype based class progression. You have many options or paths you can take to get the character you most want. I love the idea you start as a generic class then specialize to your secondary and still yet get to choose a tertiary skill. Woohoo, bring it on!!
Getting together once again with my friends after a long day at work and winding down in a game I enjoy. EQlive was a fun run, but, got old after 5 years. Every other game we've tried just hasn't withstood the test of time. Hopefully EQ2 will.
Personally I'm looking Foward to it all , Especially the Prestigue system. Already have a guild started with friends and we have approx 20 peeps atm for just opening day.
locked Encounters may seem like a bad idea to some that like to PL , but IMHO it's a fantastic idea which prevents PL'n/KS'n. It helps keep the game balancing a whole lot easier and much more enjoyable for those that want to actually play the game and not just storm thru it.
Crafting looks great as compared to most other craft systems I've tried in Various other games.
The lore is a great addition simply because I've been an EQlive player for right about 4 years ( maybe a tad more ) and have kept up with ALL the Lore EQ1 had to offer.
Quests are Numorous......When i say Numorous I mean Massive and there's Always a quest to be done. You dont *Have* to look for some either , the NPC's may seek you out to do them.
Voice over's are Always a great bonus , sometimes ya just get tired of reading the chat spam and having the alternative to listen to it is just amazing.
Small raid sizes are also a Great appeal. Instead of a Zerg force of 100+ people ( if you could manage to get that many people on when ya needed em ) , you get to raid with 24 or less of your closest friends. While it *could* destroy EQ1 guilds ( which EQ1 is doing that very well on their own by trying to downsize their newest content ) it will be a great addition for those who never really liked a massive guild but loved to raid. i never really got to know everyone in a guild with 300+ members.
No more corpse runs for your equipment , But there is a close alterntive with trying to retrieve a corpse shard tho , which is your exp. Atleast you still have your gear and have a chance of getting it back rather than trying to get your stuff while in the nude( or in your banked back up gear ).
I know there's more i could rave about , but will leave this as is hehe
The overall depth of the game is going to be amazing, I cant wait to explore the lands and learn the stories. The main thing, other than that is the amazing graphics. Its going to add a whole new level of immersiveness that will just be awe inspiring.
I have to say that the thing I most look forward to is the quests, being the fact that there will be so many of them at launch. In so much I also am terribly excited about the NPC's talking and having them actualy seek me out to do a quest for them. I truly hope that SOE keeps a large supply of quests on hand through each expansion. One of the things that bogged down my fun in EQ was that after awhile it became nothing more that a Hack and Slash game. And I am sick to death of Hack and Slash!! I want content....thats all...its such a small thing I want....everyone, say it with me....content.
I'm not really surre, I'm probably most looking forward to doing my experiment with WoW and EQ2. buy them both and play them back to back comparing which one I prefer more. They both seem like really good mmorpgs. In EQ2 I'll probably go with the classes and the encounters over anything else, they just seem to be the most interesting parts aside from the lore.

For me it will be the newness of it all. Everyone wandering about clueless... making new friends. Just out and about having a really good time.
I cannot wait.
