A mmorpg that can be played in a 300mhz computer?

Hi, i just managed (somehow) to fix my old computer. I'd like to know if there is any GOOD mmorpg that my machine can run. I'm not very fond of html based mmorpg, mainly because of the lack of interaction between players. Is there like i'm looking for, or should i really use that computer only for college work?

and if you're going to play UO then I'd suggest playing it on 2d graphics... trust me... of course you can also try it out on 3d... eheh...

AC1 (Asheron's Call) is a good choice, until the new expansion comes out with the new graphics.

Even when the new expansion comes out for AC1, you still can play the old graphics settings. It's only optional to turn on the high res graphics.

    Also RUNESCAPE (RS).

If you have enough memory ( I recommend having 1 GIG RAM or as close to it as possible) it might be possible to play Anarchy Online at the lowest settings. There was one player who played AO on a 330 MHZ computer, with 256 RAM.

AO is free to download, so it is free for you to try and see if it will work on your computer if all settings are on lowest possible.

If you have a 3D card as well.

That game runs on a low spec computer as well.

I know, i know, but i have to spend almost all of my money paying my college. No help from daddy. So, in my free time, i wanted to play in he compuer i use for homework. Not too much free time, I just have like one hour at day. I also have a part-time.

It's a 300Mhz, with 56mb ram, and no video card, or anything like that, running in a modded win98. Is the 2d UO client really going to work in that?

Look at the free MMORPG list at the top of this forum I hear some of them are pretty good and some should work on a 300.

I'd highly recommend Asheron's Call 1.  It not only runs on older computers, but is still one of the best MMORPGs ever made.

to that techie guy, those games are just sad. they say 3d, but they are 2d 1988 graphics. wow just awful. anyways to the guy with the 300mhz i recommend throwing it in the trash and shelling out some money for a comp that doesnt suck. they dont cost very much now-a-days, im getting a 3.1ghz 1ghz ram, 128mb gfx...etc and it will be under 1000 dollars.

You NEED a videocard (not iternal from PC original manufacter) to play AC.
You almost did him to pay for nothing. READ B4 POST!!!

Should, it may be a little slow now with all the expansions, but when it first came out I played it with dial up on a 233mhz PC with 32mb of ram just fine. And by no vid card do you mean integrated gfx?

Your computer is an antique.  Sell it as such on ebay, get a thousand bucks for it and viola! new PC time!

    Try this one:  www.nexustk.com

    Pentium 166 MMX
    32 MB RAM
    Windows 95/98: DirectX 7.0
    Windows NT: SR3
Video card that supports DirectX 7.0
    Internet connection

    or this one:  www.darkages.com

    OperaWin95/98/2000/ME/XP
CPU: Pentium MMX 200Mhz or higher
    RAM:64MB RAM
    VGA: 8MB video memory
    HDD: 200MB space needed
    Direc DirectX 7.0a
    Inter 28K Modem

As long as you can run DX7.0a, you will be ok.

    I would definitely recommend Everquest.

Up until a few months ago I was playing on a 400Mhz Celeron with 256MB SDRAM. I had a 64MB GeForce 4 card for graphics and I got a necro all the way up to 65 and had a blast doing it. Naturally, I had to disable just about every graphical option and disable sound but hey, I still had fun and interacted with players a lot. Raids tended to be a problem though, I was one of those casters that faced the wall the whole time, lol.

Now I am computerless and waiting to upgrade for Everquest 2 (seems like they fixed a lot of gameplay issues with EQ Live). I think I'm gonna treat myself to an Athlon 64 system in the coming months, and like someone else mentioned it doesn't cost ALL that much these days to upgrade to a decent system. Just pinch your pennies for a lil bit and bam, you got some money! (i know, easier said than done)

Your basically stuck in the 2d mmorpg world... ac might run.... but you definetly have better luck with uo.. and eq would screw you over.. if you bought all the expansions seperately you could buy a ok comp minus monitor.. well, like what?...250-300 bucks worth of comp...but all expansions come in a set for 30 bucks now.. :O ut you would be stuck in the old parts.. and without at least onboard graphics you cant play :O
