what a serious blow to progress (from the wow community page)
The US World of Warcraft beta test will remain offline for the remainder of Sunday and into Monday, and possibly longer. As soon as we have an estimate on when we will be able to restore service, we'll share that information here. Our thanks go out again for your continued patience and support.

I would hate to see such a beautiful game be destroyed from what happened...
That would be a horrible way to go out... I have faith in Blizzard... they've always pulled through. Might push the game back to 2014, but sh*t, at least it will be out.

They pulled the plug to the servers before the damage. So everything should be current. It is just a matter of how much or if any damage to the hardware happened. Plus however long it takes AT&T to get the datecenter back up and running.

I'm looking foward to WoW.... but... wouldn't it be hilarious if all that data got ruined and WoW was gone forever mhuhahahaha!

Assuming the backups weren't in the same place. And I have a feeling they were. I think the best way for all the junkies to handle it is to assume their characters are gone, and when they are able to log back on, maybe they will be surprised to have a character.
In any case, if you lose a character in a beta for whatever reason, you are an absolute loser to get mad.

I find that hilarious that WoW had a tornadoe hit their hardware and flooded their servers. Call me evil, but it's still freakin hilarious. LOL

Yeah, it's all nice and fine no one got hurt or anything. Still wouldve thought that a company as rich as blizzard would have had backups offsite and not within the same building. Heck, thats part of what network people have to learn to get their basic Net+ certification is to know that natural disasters will distroy one site an dyou need another site with the backups.
so what do YOU do when not playing WOW beta?
I... uh, break out my old accounts and post on forums that I never really visited often.
I need another option to vote on
Any word yet on whether they were smart enough to place the servers in a different location? Were the beta characters saved? Think they will put a life preserver around each server? LOL
I still think it's funny, even if it's kinda disappointing to the poor guys in the closed beta. Of course, things like this are always funnier from people on the outside.

So, does that mean that no one lost their characters or did only a few? From the annoucement of the new server and new closed beta testers it seems like they are already ready to expand what hardware they had, but are they ready yet or are half of the hardware still destroyed?

I'm sure there are some people here that are in the closed beta, we need them to state whether or not their players were comprimised or not. bump for that info please.
I really want to play the open beta so that I can have a chance to check out the game since I missed the stress test (sounded like it was crashing very often, so I don't know if I missed much anyways).
