i havce changed my mind since the last post of this topic

i will be playing on a Core sever due to the fact that the open RvR severs will be lacking in the RvR that i want the open RvR sever will have skirmishes and water down RvR else where it matters.I feel that the Core rule set is the best set for those who want to Take keeps....do the instanced RvR and city siege....those who just want to run around and fight others..go do it in the the open RvR severs.....but you cna also do this in the Core rule set.......

Core it is....the Core rule set will be like DAoC so those DAoC fans should really play Core

My guild will be rolling on Open RvR, which I dont like, since why do it? By the time your 40, your in the T4 RvR zones, which your flagged all the time in RvR zones anyway which is the WHOLE point of the game, RvR, not open PvP skirmishes.

can someone explain the difference between the open and core server type?

Probably core, because no one roleplays on the roleplay servers.

Core = Your only flag if you want to (Flag = Your open for PvP). But your still always flagged in Scenarios/RvR zones.

Open = Flagged all the time.

Yeh I prefer to choose what I want to do and not forced to PVP all the time, that's why I loved SWG so much so I'd pick the core too.

    Talking about SWG much?

I didnt know if there were natural safe zones like in Daoc.  "open RvR"  is that just a FFA PVP server? that is faction doesnt matter?  or does it mean factions do matter, but every zone will be open for both factions?

I was just a bit confused, I liked the daoc way of having leveling and pve safe zones and then certain zones were entirely rvr, none of this flagging stuff.

I'm still unsure entirely what a /flag on and /flag off core server actually means and where?

Old DAOC players will want to play on Core, because the rulesets on flagging/pvp are about the same.

Open RvR is not like DAOCs pvp server, it's not FFA, its still RvR.

I'll have characters on both Core and Open RvR servers.  I don't know now if I would enjoy the realism of a world where your enemies can ALWAYS attack you more then the ability to safely play through the PvE content of the game - I'll only know once I've tried it out.  It would depend on how often higher level characters would attempt to gank me.  Since it's possible to gain XP from killing other players, and since PvP is my favorite aspect of MMOs, AND since I always enjoy as much realism as possible (it only makes sense that your enemies would attack you whenever they see you... How could they be "Not Aloud" to attack you?!), I'm guessing Open RvR will suit my play-style better.  But, like I said, too much gankage would be a big drawback, though probably the only one for me.  I ALWAYS took time (when I played WoW) away from whatever PvE stuff I was working on to kill any nasty Horde that showed up!
