And like Enterprise has already done, I predict it will rip up existing storylines, existing known facts and just shred up all remaining belief that anyone may have that another Star Trek: Anything should be made ever again.
Knowing the way developers are these days, they've probably picked the worst possible time within the universe to set the storyline, the time that will mean it will be impossible to not rip up existing storylines established in the books, stories, tv series and films to date, the same type of setting that the developers chose for SWG and Matrix Online.
The Star Trek Universe (and just about all other big name universe franchises) should be left alone now, kept alive only by films, books and (fan) stories. Any other media format should be banned.
Unfortunately, because the rights are stuck in the hands of the greedy, it's not going to happen.
The developers should stop propping themselves up on existing franchises and start coming up with something more original again, although I do welcome the (possible, because lets face it, an MMO isn't released until it's released - another problem with the 'money makes the world go round' system we have, far too much advertising far too soon) addition of another sci-fi mmorpg to the all too small collection we currently have.
Enterprise should of never been made. It's a poor excuse for a Star Trek series.
I really hope the game brings justice to the name. I know SWG kind of killed the series, but you have to remember that SWG is "galaxies". It's not the movies.
Whats the worry? How many times has the Star Trek Universe had a story line go as: a)parallel universe, mirror universe, dream sequence, time distortion, ect. A Star Trek MMORPG would not hurt the franchise, hell it may even inspire future writers. The animated series didn't impact the Star Trek story line, so why should a game.
