ON AoC-
AoC is like a prostitute with a thousand dollar dress. she looks ok from a distance but once you take off her dress and sniff her panties you want to puke up all the razor blades you just swallowed to upgrade your PC just to run it!!!
um yeah, a lil 3am etherspeak.
anyways, sure, looks good, but damn theres just not much goin on, its a PvP with no reason to PvP. its a PvE with no reason to PvE, no loot, atmospheric voice acting ends at lv 20. theres no crafting till lv 40!?!?!? are you effingly kidding me?!?!?!?!? bad conan, go sit in the corner while i wait for WAR...
ON WAR-
im not a PvP fan at all. but, i like what i see with WAR. i just have a feeling its going to blow us all away. i think everyone that reads about WAR becomes frightened. it seems like theres something to scare everyone off but i just think its because it has some gnarly ideas that WILL work. it covers many areas. and as far as the recent announcement to cut some content out i was really bummed at first and i climbed the fence and sat fora bit. but once i read the mark's reply it totally comforted me like a tasty breats in the mouth of a crying babe... makes sense. now sure its a bummer people who wanted to play a dark elf wont be able to have a tank but if you really think about it theres 20 classes and from what i see so far, they will have a lil more style than conan's super lame classes that share half of the same abilities and skills that just have different icons and names and they all do the same thing.
and WAR is super badass stylized. when i saw the video of the orc going about splitting the shit out of poor peons blood i was diggin that footage. it looks fun. i like that the game seems focused, only 40 levels makes sense to me. i really liked LotROs setup too with a focused 50 levels. i think it will feel really focused too. i think by the end of the year i will be playing LotRO: MoM and WAR!!!
EDIT- sorry didnt do all my homework. the only decision i CANNOT AGREE WITH AT ALL is the decision to NOT finish the knights of the blazing sun??? how can you have "ORDER" without a knight class and for the humans no less? it just dont get that. you would think that they could force a decent turd of a class out just so that theres some kind of facade balance there. i mean the humans have a priest, a wizard and a scout type class??? thats it. the humans, which are the keystone of the order have three meatbags with no armor and leadership skills???????????????????????? now i understand that some of you have had designs leading up to the launch on a pre set type of character, like maybe the dark elf blackgaurd which you wont agree with me because of that. BUT, truly look at the balance of the humans classes and tell me it just doesnt feel right?
what do you guys think about this????

Who cares ? they are out and that`s the end of it. We don`t want to hear about AOC because you have finally realised its not all that.
No knights fits the story line.
The knights are too busy whoring to fight - so the empire has had to call on the High Elves for help.
And the dwarves - well someone has to supply the beer.
Are they cut or just delayed?
----------------------------------------
Talking about SWG much?
90% permanently cut. They recently added that they may introduce new classes before launch if balance issues occur during the remaining beta.
They also said that if balance issues occur and they need more time to introduce more classes they WILL delay release.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
IMO Choppas being out is the worst bit...
We've got greenskins there where 2/3 are goblins. Hey! For every ork there are going to be 2 goblins!
Not good. Imo Choppas (or equivalent) should get the top priority in patches.
KotBS is the worst class to be cut .
i hate to say it but most people that want to play tanks do not want to play a dwarf . i am very worried about lack of tanks on the Order side because of this .
tanks are tuff to find in any mmo, they need to be in first.
definitely this
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!
Your right about people not wanting to play Dwarf's but i think the Hammerer was a bit more interesting than KoTBS.
They should never have gone with KoTBS, it's one of the least numerous and least known orders and aren't exatly known for thier prowess in battle. A smarter move would have been like i said, go with Knights Panther or Knights of The White Wolf, both are large orders and are renowned for their skill in battle. Their names would be more attractive to players as well.
when it comes to Warhammer lore i know NOTHING ! lol
what i said was purely from a game play / balance stand point . if the only true tank Order has is the IB , i have a bad feeling Order will be at a sever disadvantage . add Knights Panther or the White Wolf or big giant fluffy bunnies i don't care ... as long as people want to play the class and it's a pure tank .
im ressurecting this discussion because chatting about where beta is, when the beta is, whos more beta than you, whos beta balls are beta-er than you, etc... BORING.
im so blown away by what this game is doing and ive been watching ALL the old dev videos, very cool stuff going to happen in this game. but i just still cant help but feel a little bummed about the sacrifice of the tank/melee classes.
i would rather have a crap "paladin" like character for order humans than none at all. and what about the greenskins? the orc IS its own class a black orc and thats IT. theres two goblin classes and then theres the orc CLASS...? choppa is gone?!?!?!
and then i look at chaos and see the marauder and the chose. how will this link up against the order? well pretty damn nicely for the chaos having a balanced group of class- healer, mage, melee DPS and a tank.
what does order have to work with? 2 meatbags and a lightly armored ranged DPS. for a game that is based on War and RvR there seems to be a bad imbalance. i mean the high elves are the only balanced race for the order side? the dwarves took a hit too.
it just seems so disappointing. but please believe me when i say im super stoked for this game and i WILL buy it no matter what. mythic is making a game that will blow minds. i just would rather have shit classes that feel weak that none at all. i know that mythic said the classes cant be all that they should be, but man couldnt they fake em for now and finish tweaking them within the next few months of patches?
i do think they were right to ditch the other 4 cities to focus RvR into two.
i dont know... it seems like im the only one who cares anymore. anyways, whats everyones thoughts?
The only reason it feels like your the only one that cares anymore is because its a dead horse. Beaten over and over and over again. I'm not flaming you, I'm just pointing out most of us are tired of discussing classes that are out for release. Nothing we say is going to change it. We have discussed it for pages on end already...what else is there to say?

well theres lots for me to say because i usually dont post here and havent spoken much on this topic. unfortunately theres no official forum and as much as your opinion is valid here so is mine. and i would just rather talk about classes than beta. im sure 80% of you want to talk about beta but maybe theres a few who want to discuss classes with me, if so, no skin off of anyone elses back. and im not completely focused on complaining about the absence of tanks as much as im interested in talking about the games balance now that i have watched more dev pod casts about RvR combat and how the tiers of combat work. i think these are valid and fresh points given the information that gets rolled out weekly.
it seems your tired of the topic but should i be not speak my mind cause others tire of said topic?
Mythic has their reasons for doing what they did but I think cutting out tanking classes may hurt class balance. When people think of tanks, they think of big, strong looking brutes. What are order's tanks? The small looking Ironbreaker and the skinny looking swordmaster.
Tanks are already the most under-represented class in mmorpgs (imo). I think KotBS has a bigger "cool" factor then the other order tanks, and I think removing that class will now cause some potential order tanks to be dps or healer classes instead.
Oh well, we'll see once the game goes live.
I vote none of the above, since Mythic thought they were too under developed i think none of them were actually cool.
Just the names are cool thats all.
i went from KOtBS to Swordmaster......a change that was hard to make.....but i will get over it Swordmaster is a different kind of tank and i kind of lke that

Not at all, speak your mind all you want. You did say however that maybe you where the onlyone who still cared. All I was pointing out is that its not that some of us do care, we just have talked about it over and over again and moved on. Nothing against you by any means. Thoes are valid concerns and the only awnser I have to it is we all are going to have to wait till the NDA is lifted, or till we see it ourself. I personally just have a hard time believing Mythic would make such a big move as to cut classes without taking balance into the process as well.
Hi,
I think everyone makes the mistake of presuming that these classes were scrapped due to balance issues.
I don't think so. They are the (logical) result of 2 things:
- The reduction of going from 6 to 2 capitols.
- Meeting a deadline of september (to launch in time).
To me it is very clear that Mythic lost something very important in their game they talked about for 2 years.
RvR to me means 3 vs 3 in capitol fights with EACH Army standing there to protect its capitol. (supported by others).
This kind of thing really blew my mind !: a very dynamic world in which each 3vs3 was THE reason to play a game like Warhammer (it took the idea of DAoC but even further).
Problem was simply: meeting the deadline. Programming AND balancing such a moster would have taken far more time than Mythic thought.
By deleting the capitol sieges of 4 of them, they could in fact cut more developping time and could leave out the "tanks" of those seperate armies.
So the Armies of Warhammer no longer have Army identities, something I was looking for the last 2(!) years now.
----
Suddenly the game lost its proper RvR 6-way status.
It is now a pure PvP game with just 2 factions. RvR of DAoC is far gone now (not even talking of instanced fights).
I don't even mention the loss of what stands for Warhammer in miniatures Lore. In that Lore (I just adore !!!) every Army has its OWN identity. With the current state of Warhammer this is ALL lost.
So stupid: just to publish in time before WotLK they sacrificed all the talking they did for 2 years.
As a Wow player I just love Warhammer lore, but I can't understand what Mythic is doing now.
So my new moto is:
I know Paul and Co talk, but now they have to prove the game can still walk.
And the fact they deleted 4 capitols and the identity of seperate armies shows the influence or the money hungry of EA, ...... so sad.
BTW I still love Wow (but I was ready to love War).
Ok I will ask you, since I never got an awnser the last time I asked a big lore fan. GW has to basicly OK everything Mythic does with WAR. That being said, as much as you love the lore, who are you to tell Mythic (and in essence GW) that they are wrong? I'm not trying to flame, its a serious question I have.
Personally thats the one issue I have with big IP games. LOTRO went/is going through the same things. People who know and love the lore say the developer is ruining it. Not understanding that its first, and formost a game and some things will have to be sacrficed. Again, what I dont understand is how a lore junky (again, not meaning it as an insult) will say "The developer is ruining the lore!!!" when infact the creaters of the lore itself ok any major changes. If not as GW has proven before they would pull the plug.
You asked a question, so I better answer to be polite ))
My analysis above was about two things:
Coming from 6 Army identities (with respective capitols) with 3vs3 RvR .... to just 2 capitols and 2 factions.
The orginal idea (and proposed for 2 years on every website I could lay my hands on) was pure Warhammer Lore principle, with the added RvR of the highly praised DAoC. (3 factions then).
It's not ME that changed things.
And I am quite convinced GW is not very happy with these changes, because it takes out the fundamentals of Warhammer lore: Armies with their proper identities battling each other.
Just go out and have a look at the hundreds of Warhammer books and monthly magazines.
So my comments are NOT only about "Lore": they also covered the promised RvR things. What's the famous RvR now?: a simple 2 factions wargame you can find in so many MMO's.

I wasnt trying to debunk your opinions. Its a valid one and alot better put than alot of others around here.
As far as the 2 faction idea. While again I respect your opinion I must disagree. Had they taken the 4 other cities out and said "Ok there is no point ot the other area's. Focus on these main 4 tiers" I would agree completely. However they didnt do that. You still have to capter 2 of the 3 tier 4's to even get to the capital city. So in essence major fights are still going to go on in all 3 diffrent tier 4 zones with the final battle being focused on 1 of 2 cities. Of course, this is just my opinion that this system still has the purpose of the old one, just with the final battle being on one front.

It is NOT because there are only 2 factions that the game is suddenly a dud now.
But it shows that things just didn't work out (in time) and so -- after AoC -- I just wait and see. But the hype of being able to play a Warhammer kinda game is a lot less to me.
I think you can understand my feelings.
I don't know about "most" people, but that's true for me. I always like to play a really tall character for whatever reason, so dwarfs never really appeal to me, but I do like to play a tank.
