Use Vista 64 SP1? Find another game...

in Granado Espada Online

Tried everything on many sites.  People are still complaining about the disaster that is xtrap.  I wasted a lot of time to try this game to find that xtrap sucks (incompatibilities)...  even if it did run the game at all, I would never allow xtrap to run on my pc...  flame away!

    Xtrap is probably the least intrusive of a lot of the programs free MMORPGs use (vs say, Nprotect Gameguard, which is like a rootkit).

    That said, it is horrible and bloated, affecting performance of the game.

    And there's no reason for it - it doesn't do even anything. People still bot away, and when they are caught, they are simply given a slap on the wrist by K2, because all they care about is how much you spend in the cash shop, not what you do in the game.

     

    So, really, you're not missing much by passing on the game. It can be fun but at high levels, it's basically just one big money-siphon.

    In truth we have our own... concerns regarding X-Trap, but we have entered into a tentative agreement with them to fix their perverbial "poop" or this cat is leaving.

    That said we are currently testing a new X-Trap patch that is fully compatible with Vista 32 and currently is running well on Vista 64. X-Trap is working WITH us to become more stable (we have resolved a great number of NON-Vista issues) and the new patch blocks a number of known bots.

    SO, as much as everyone hates them they are at the very least "trying" to improve performance and bot/hack issues. We hope to get this first patch out next Wednesday (8/13).

    P.S. Up until 8/13 we have been very clear that Sword is not Vista compatible... so...

    sucks your waiting till August 13th... I just redownloaded the game to give it another shot and xtrap wont let me play... **sighs**

    IMO turn it off till you can get it functional, just a quick peek at your support forum (http://forum.swordofthenewworld.com/index.php?showforum=75) and no K2 response here in a rather long time (http://forum.swordofthenewworld.com/index.php?showtopic=20599)

    Looks like xtrap is costing you customers, here is one that had intended on giving you another shot...

    Unfortunately due to server architecture to "fix" X-Trap we have to turn it on. So there isn't a way to fix it with it off, if there was, we'd do it.

    Well, I DID play using Vista 64 SP1, neither X-Trap nor the game itself gave me any issues, I did not keep playing because it's not a game for me.
