well my 30 days are almost up. i had fun with it while it lasted. got it for 7 bucks on ebay, cant beat that. the game has serious performance issues (note:  i can play cyrsis on high settings). Vanguard is poorly optimized. also from levels 1-25 the world is very empty. things are too spread apart, the rifts are cool, but when you come off the rift, you look around...empty in most areas as you journey outwards. i would like to see more geometry in the world. also the quest suck, there are group quest where you have to get 15/15 wings and 20/20 shells  combined in one area, the problem is you have to roll on the items. and yes these are group quest. and the items don't drop on every kill, took me like 3 days(like 4 hour sessions) to complete this quest with multiple groups. i also ran into a similar quest, i think thats when i lost all interest in the game. the game has some bugs i encountered also. i will give any MMO at least 25 levels to prove it's worthy for me to continue the other 25, vanguard failed. it is not a bad game at all, just not worth the monthly fee in my opinion.  instead of the devs working on new animations and character models, they need to work on putting some geometry in that huge empty world, but it probably will make the game run worse, so they won't. if you are looking for a new mmo i do suggest you try this as it is very inexpensive. it is better than conan (the gameplay), but doesnt have the polish of wow or lotro. i hope WAR is good or else there will be nothing to play IMO.

IMO learning how to capitalize and make paragraphs would be a good addition to your posting skills.

Didn't really read most of what you wrote because of it. And all I can say is I do hope you find something up your alley. Vanguard has never pretended to be for everyone, at least you can say that much. ;)

The HL quests you refer to do take some time but I like grouping and found it fun.  I much rather do that type of quest that keeps a group together and playing as a team then quests that take 20 minutes and everyone breaks up or games where all the quests are solo quests.  VG has a good number of solo quests but also some of these group quests that do take some time but tend to keep a group together.  I don't know there just feels to me like in VG there is more comradory then most games.

I'd say you probably made the right decision. I played one char to 35 and then rerolled and played to 50. Got crafting up to where I could make a boat. I thought the harvesting/crafting was good. Best quest was the long one for shadowmount. I got pretty bored when I got to 50. Was very minimal high end content. I also was very disappointed with the graphics of the dungeons.

If you can't bother to read a post, maybe you should not bother to comment on it. He had valid concerns, and you start an english class. Classical vanguard player.. No ears, all mouth.

Vanguard epitomizes what a pve game would deliver. 3 spheres with tons of content, vast not instanced world (except apw), amazing community.

Lack of pvp,  of developer resources and alas, of players,  is  making the product what it is right now :/

Just like the OP I have had the same feeling about the game. Although it run well on my system (Vista X64, 8600 GTS, 2 Gb ram).

The main problem with the rift system is, it was introduced after the game was released (correct me if I'm wrong). So now you can jump all around the world in a sec, which I think isn't what the developers intended when making Vangaurd. Unfortunately due too the low population rifting is needed.

On several days around 20:30 GMT I searched for players to see how many were online on the Halgar server. Between 1-49 roughly 600 I found (and yes when it was above 40 I narrowed down the levels I searched for). 600 is way too low. To find a group was/is therefore very difficult and you rift from one place to the other. In a few days you have 40 quests and you start think by yourself, what am I doing here and were did I picked up this quest. Then when killing enemies, you get the message favor increased by 1 with faction X, lowered with faction Y. Who are those factions, why does they increase and decrease? I don't have clue and therefore I don't care.

Good side, the crafting and diplomacy is great. The main problem is that the world is too big. Which make you feel very lonely somehow. However when you play with a regular group well , then you have a good time, but that holds for every game.

Well, if  WAR sucks, there will allways be Spellborn, it seems nice.

And upcoming Guildwars 2 and "World of Darkness online" will be very intresting whenever they are released. GW2 hopefully fall or winter but arenanet don't release a halfdone game so it might take a lot more,

There will allways be game that you'll find ok but lacks that little extra so keep on looking, taste differs :)

The faction status is for faction mounts and the new faction armor sets.

I agree that the game can be a very lonely place and I missed the social aspect of what a mmo should be,I dis-agree about the quests though,it is ok to say the quests that are harvesting the likes of 20 shells but alot of the quests are very well written and alot of fun.

I have tried the game 3 times now and doubt there will be a 4th,In my eye's the game just missed the boat,I think if it had released the way it is now then it would be some what of a success. It still wouldnt set the world alight as there are still some annoying bugs and to this the low population and lack of end game content it wasnt for me,there are still some player's who enjoy VG and fair play to them.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

By this statement you have stereotyped all vanguard players in a negative way.

If this poster is a fanboi - your negative stereotyping makes you a hater.

A hater is the flip side of the fanboi, steeped in just as many of the insecurities and pathetic psychology as the link you gave describing 'fanbois'.

Remove the log from your own eye before telling someone else to remove the splinter from theirs.

But just to address the quote; clarity in written language is essential for true understanding of meaning. This is why we have a defined set of rules for writing language, so that the message being conveyed is clear.

Asking that people write legibly within the rules of the English language is a perfectly legit request of all forum posters, otherwise, the 'valid concerns' may pass without notice.

I'm not advocating grammar nazi-ism, I'm sure I have made a few mistakes myself. However, it is obvious reading posts who is making a good faith effort and who simply is lazy.

And to really get under your skin, it should be 'classic' vanguard player. A classical Vanguard player would be dressed in a toga and would wander the streets of Athens or Rome prior to the Middle Ages, or perhaps you meant a VG player who plays violin in the symphony.

Granted I understood what you 'meant', this being a pretty simplistic discussion, but it in fact isn't what your 'wrote' at all.  In the future, you may not be so lucky.

    ____________________________________________

In addition, the only 'valid' concern the OP has imo, is that he doesn't like quests where you have to collect things and they don't always drop. But is this a concern for just VG? All games I have played have similar quest structures, if not exact. His beef with VG questing is a beef he should have with all mmo's.

The servers are not dead. Seradon is as populated as any 'high' populated server on WoW (from my experience- and yes I have active accounts in both games), and I have found through my experience it is infinately easier to find a group for casual adventuring in VG. Because a minority are having problems while the majority are not having problems, it negates his argument from any validity. The overwhelming trend is a population increase in this game. Those who still think the servers are 'dead' are in a minority.

VG needing more 'geometry'....clarity in language would have helped here - does he mean more mountains and trees and the like? This isn't really what I would call a 'valid concern' in that the consensus is that VG is a beautiful world , the dissenters are a minority here.
